Glad to see such a strong online push for the game, though. Games that aren't third-person action-adventure titles or RPGs rarely seem to get the recognition they deserve from critics.
Yeah I'd like to see Fire Emblem win something just because it's the sort of game that never does, even though the series has been incredible for the last 5 years.
What’s the deadline? Because if the deadline is a full month before the awards, they’re only awarding for 10 months out of the year.
And it’s odd to see it included in the player’s choice if it’s truly ineligible. If it falls into next years category then it should be on next year’s players choice, not this year’s.
Fire Emblem breaking away pretty hard though. 41% with Star Wars at 25%. Even Smash is creeping up on Star Wars now at 22%.

Won’t do any good for this game because it’s going to look just as good on Switch as PS4. No reason to buy that version when you can get both console and handheld combined in the Switch version anyways.
But for other games, games that have to be severely dialed back. Like DOOM Eternal, The Witcher 3, The Outer Worlds (I’m assuming)... that’s where cross save has its value. If only games like that had cross save, i’d have a lot more incentive to actually purchase the game a second time on another platform.

@IceClimbers Woah, missed the Crossplay part. That's huge, means I can play with my friends without us all having to agree on a common system (meaning I'll be getting Switch version for sure)
The Game Awards have no Mario Kart Tour for 'Best Mobile Game'? What the?? That's disappointing.
It's the best mobile game I ever played. I play it every day since its launch in September. Not even regular Mario Kart games are that addicting and fresh.
Finally built up enough gold coins to grab Shadowgate remake for "free". A mighty fine point'n'click, trial'n'error adventure. I hope developer Abstraction Games is working on a Switch port of the 8-bit Adventure Anthology that PS4 got last year. And that LRG will get us a physical release as well.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,561 games (as of April 18th, 2026)

Kind of light on the Nintendo announcements compared to previous years but I enjoyed the show. I'm sure we'll get some good stuff in a direct in a couple months
Ya, pretty weak. Bravely Default II is hype, but it’s not exactly a blockbuster announcement. More mid tier Octopath level.
It’s fine though. I’ve got so many games to play, and with all the RPGs coming to Switch next year (Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, Trials of Mana Remake, Xenoblade Chronicles HD, Trails of Cold Steel III, Bravely Default II, The Snack World, Yokai Watch 4 (hopefully), Fairy Tale, Langrisser I/II, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, The Outer Worlds, Digimon Survive, Pillars of Eternity 2, Persona 5 Scramble, etc) I’m set for quite some time. And that’s not even accounting for all the other games that are coming of other genres (DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing, Gods and Monsters, Darksiders Genesis, etc) and basically a full year’s lineup still unannounced.
Plus I’m gonna have to check out a few games on other systems. Final Fantasy can wait though. It’s been shown exclusivity ends in March 2021 by Xbox which, yet again, confirms it’s releasing on other platforms, and since new consoles will be out then, that means it’s coming to new consoles, Xbox Series X included, which of course I’ll be grabbing day one, along with PS5, because no matter how much I say I may hold off I know I’m going to. I can swing it, and new consoles are always exciting.
The ones I will be playing though are Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Cyberpunk. Man I hope Ori comes to Switch. I hope Metroid Prime Trilogy comes to Switch. I hope a new Monster Hunter comes to Switch! And with Zell yet again dropping that Halo leak for Switch, reaffirming it’s happening after taking a hiatus, I hope Halo comes to Switch. May not be the Master Chief Collection, but I’ll take what I can get. As long as it has gyro. Give me those four things and I’ll be the happiest gamer in this forum.

Yeah I guess Nintendo is waiting for their Jan/Feb Direct.
Still Bravely Default 2 is great news. Thoroughly enjoyed the first one except for the timeloop nonsense at the end.
I really hope they've given it a bigger budget though. Given they've got a great install base for this kinda thing on Switch, they should spend a bit more than they did on the first game. That felt very low-budget with the lack of exploration it had in the various towns.
