I'd personally like a Splatoon spinoff game. A rhythm game to be specific. Splatoon 2 has its rhythm minigame but it's barebones and lacks style. I want something more akin to Hatsune Miku or Persona rhythm games. Would be a perfect fit in my opinion.

As expected, Pokemon Sword and Shield can be bought using NSO vouchers.

@Grumblevolcano That's really depressing. I never played anymore but splatfests were the one thing that did draw me back in.

@Ralizah Exactly what I thought, Splatoon 3 reveal either after the Splatoon 2 tournament on Saturday or during the E3 Direct.

I don't think there'll be a Splatoon 3 until Nintendo's next console launches. Even if they're not actively supporting the game any more, Splatoon 2 is the kind of game that can be played pretty much indefinitely so it would seem a bit redundant having another instalment on the same console unless it was drastically different. There's never been more than one new Mario Kart or Smash Bros game on a single console before after all.

@Dogorilla I just don't see them dropping support so soon unless something is releasing soon. Why would they? Splatfests are probably barely any work for them and they increase engagement with the game.

I gotta say, I'm glad I got this physically. If Splatoon 3 is, indeed, a Switch title, there will be precious little reason to hold on to Splatoon 2, as the sequel will draw away the majority of the playerbase. I just wish the Octo Expansion was its own app/game, as I wouldn't mind replaying that on occasion.

@Grumblevolcano YES!

Where was that confirmed? On twitter?

@Ralizah Well, every Splatfest in Splatoon 2 has its own version of Shifty Station, so designing and programming a new one of those every month probably takes a not insignificant amount of work. I guess if they wanted to keep doing more Splatfests they could just reuse existing Shifty Stations, but then they'd still have to do the art and dialogue for each Splatfest, which obviously isn't as much effort but still takes time. And I think when the game was first released they said that Splatfests would only continue for a year, but then that was increased to two years.

There's some sense in that, but... arguably part of the strategy behind the MK8D and Splatoon 2 releases, plus the other Wii U ports, is that they didn't require an abundance of new ideas and creativity, leaving any innovative ideas on the back-burner for a sequel.

I don't want a MK or Splatoon sequel any time soon, but there's room for them.

@Late Gotcha. They haven't added it to the supported upcoming games list in NA yet, unfortunately.

They had this glut of online games when Switch launched, and now that NSO is active, they're killing all the online games

Though I bet AC has mandatory online features....

@Ralizah It's not in the list in Europe either but the game's actual eShop page says it's included.

Used one on Mario Maker already. Next one is probably going to be for wither Fire Emblem or Astral Chain. And I guess I need more since I want at least Pokémon and Animal Crossing too. Great deal for someone like me who likes to go digital.

Hmm, the Switch probably won't get a port of Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, but another Masquerade game was announced yesterday, coming to Switch no less. It's being developed by iFun4all, a company recently rebranded as Draw Distance. https://ifun4all.com/

No switch mini during Pokemon direct. September-november with animal crossing or Pokemon it is.

If a Switch Mini does release, I always expected it to launch around the same time as Pokemon. Releasing near the holidays just makes sense.

If they manage to get a $199.99 Switch out alongside Pokemon by Christmas, we're going to see some truly staggering sales numbers.

Switch revisions are the new Majora's Mask 3D (Operation Moonfall)

Which collection will Switch get first?

Metroid Prime trilogy
Pikmin 1-3
Mother 1-3 (you know it's coming)
