I'll admit I was a little disappointed when Pokemon Let's Go was announced because of the simplifications to the classic Pokemon gameplay (am I right in thinking there are no held items or abilities?) But looking at it now it seems really fun and as long as they re-introduce those mechanics in the next game (which, by the sound of it, they're going to) I'm all for it. I've decided to wait until Christmas to get it because I'm still playing TWEWY so I don't need another Switch RPG just yet, but I'm excited to get my hands on it.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Grumblevolcano Final Fantasy XV was on the XB1 without a sign of any other FF games coming to a non-Sony console before and after it was released. What makes this any different?
@Grumblevolcano
Mass Effect 3 is like the worst possible comparison you could make. Not one single commonality with the current situation.
Kingdom Hearts 3 on Xbox changes nothing. In fact, it only makes it more likely. Final Fantasy XV was also announced for X1. And look what happened after (Switch and X1 get a dozen games in the series).
EXACT same thing here. Like their biggest, latest FF game that was first announced for X1 and PS4, their biggest, latest KH game has ALSO been announced for X1 and PS4. Later came Switch and X1 for FF, and later will come Switch and X1 for KH.
The parallels are undeniable.

@JaxonH It's more similar than you think, playing KH3 without the previous games is like playing Mass Effect 3 without having played Mass Effect 1 and 2. This is the point I'm getting at, KH3 on XB1 without the remasters diminishes KH3 being on XB1 in the first place. May as well have kept it a PS4 exclusive.
FFXV however doesn't have anything similar to this, you don't lose out on anything if FFXV is your first FF game.
@Grumblevolcano
Maybe, but the fact is they still brought KH3 to X1, even despite what you're saying.
So if they're willing to bring all the previous games after FFXV where they don't matter, how much more then will they bring all the previous games after KH3 where they do matter...
It's simple. Switch games selling means time to start porting, and if they're gonna port, may as well port to all consoles. Switch selling means Final Fantasy. Switch selling means Kingdom Hearts. Final Fantasy Switch means Final Fantasy Xbox. Kingdom Hearts Switch means Kingdom Hearts Xbox.
@JaxonH Exclusivity would be the reason why it hasn't come yet, whether that is timed like FFVII to FFXII or permanent like Bayonetta 2 who knows. I'm leaning towards the latter.
Ha! Just found out that the e-shop wishlish only goes to 200. Good thing I'm picking up 100 dollars in eshop cred tomorrow... lol.

Could you imagine how insanely well the complete KH collection would sell on Switch? I'm sure it's doing great on PS, but just imagine being able to take it on the go AND reaching a bunch of Nintendo people who haven't owned PS at all.
@Grumblevolcano While I don't doubt there was exclusivity, Final Fantasy VII, X and the rest of the PS1/PS2 era games have long been rumored to be just as exclusive and that's coming around. All the DQ games have come over to Nintendo, all the FF (other than VIII which has yet to be remastered, but remains likely when/if it does), it's highly unlikely that KH (which was treated as being in the same boat as those two series) remains exclusive. The other titles that are still exclusive (Parasite Eve, Valkyrie Profile and Chrono Cross are the big ones I can think of) will hopefully get remasters down the line as well, but unfortunately they aren't the big names so who knows if they will.
@link3710 In the end we'll just have to wait and see, the question isn't "Is there exclusivity?" but rather "How long is the exclusivity?"
For Final Fantasy, it could've been a specific number of years or even a requirement like "exclusivity ends when PS2 is no longer sold" (Sony had likely planned backwards compatibility for PS2 at some point during FFVII's development).
For Kingdom Hearts, the main thing that makes me think it's permanent or at the least the exclusivity period isn't over yet is the whole thing regarding KH3 on XB1 but no remasters. For a franchise that relies so heavily on its previous games, XB1 sales are going to be absolutely terrible.
Regarding Square remasters, my #1 choice would be Xenogears. Having all the Xeno games on Switch would be fantastic and Xenogears is the least likely because of Square.
Never say never with the Switch. When the Switch was first revealed, who honestly thought we'd be getting Doom, Doom Eternal, Wolf2, Civ VI, Dark Souls, Diablo 3 or any of the FF titles? I'd say KH is a safe bet.
Why is no one talking about this game? I get GRIP- I fired it up and... it was ok-ish. Can definitely see how it will be really appealing to some. But it was pretty average overall imo. But Trailblazers? Man... this game is FUN!
Guess it's them Pokemans gobbling up the spotlight. And what little is left got chomped up by the Civ fans.
Seriously though, Trailblazers. This is like, one of the funnest racers I've played since Sonic Racing Transformed, and that was the only racer to ever go toe to toe with Mario Kart 8 imo (though MK8 Deluxe has it beat). It's the Splatoon of racers. Such a novel and unique concept, but it works so incredibly well and adds so much strategy to how you play. I'm absolutely amazed no one ever thought of something like this until now.
@Grumblevolcano For a franchise that relies so heavily on its previous games, XB1 sales are going to be absolutely terrible
No they're not. I mean, they might be terrible, but it won't be because of a lack of previous games, but simply because it's a Japanese game on Xbox (though I don't think they'll be terrible for reasons stated below).
Having the prior story is important for keeping up with the story, but not so important when it comes to sales. When it comes to sales, people just buy whatever the big game is everybody's talking about. They're not going to be like dang, I'd love to buy this but I have to play every single game in the series first. Not to mention half the people who own Xbox probably played some of the games before anyways, either on a PlayStation or Nintendo console. And this will be a big game everyone is talking about. The casual masses on Xbox, despite being averse to Japanese game development, buy into anything hyped up or talked about. Final Fantasy XV is case and point.
KH3 only got announced for Xbox because when it started development, everyone thought the Xbox was going to dominate. By the time they realized that didn't happen the game was probably half developed already. And with historically low sales of Japanese games on Xbox, it's probably been more strategic for them to keep some far less hyped remasters PlayStation exclusive because it excites the fanboys who are more prone to go buy a game simply knowing it's exclusive. The minute the game gets announced for other systems, and suddenly they're not so interested anymore. So porting all those previous games to Xbox probably isn't as financially viable as repackaging the remasters 16 different times and ways and selling them to PlayStation fans, patting them on the back every time and telling them how special they are for getting it.
But now that Switch is in the mix, where they know they are actually missing out on a sizable chunk of sales, the game has changed. They are going to make more money by porting those games out to Switch, and since that means finally breaking that wall of exclusivity they might as well bring it to Xbox too (er, Xbox One, not Xbox Two, Xbox One too... nevermind).
I don't think there's any signed deals or contracts still in place for games that are 15 years old. I think it's just a matter of there being more financial benefit in the sales boost from exclusivity and back patting, then there was porting to Xbox One or Wii U (and 3DS obviously can't run the games). But now that Switch has shaken things up, the back patting sales pandering is going to be lost anyways, so might as well go ahead and bring it to everything. Hence --> Switch + Xbox announcements in tandem. Rumor has it those talks have already begun.
At the risk of being booed out of the thread is there not other more needed third party genres/games than KH?? I'm sure it's a great series (haven't played it myself) and of course id like to see it come but there's more I'd like to see first.
PS4 is outselling Switch....more than 2 to 1 in Europe contintent. (130κ PS4, 60k Switch) and 33% more in US (92k PS4, 62k Switch). Switch is only outselling PS4 in Japan. Switch seriously need a price drop and more games. Its not doing so great as some people suggest
It's even worst than that if you take only France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Netherlands.
For that part of Europe only it's 3 PS4 to 1 Switch.
I talked about that some weeks ago but a bunch of Nintendrones came to call me a liar... o_O
Where did those numbers come from? If the answer is VG chartzzzz, please don’t. Tales from one’s bottom is something not worth discussing at all. I’ll wait for official numbers from both, thanks.
