Nintendos second year seems to be beating the PS4 second year.

People really should stop comparing PS4 and Switch sales; mostly because of release timing, but also because they’re completely different types of beasts.

On the other hand, some enthousiasts, fanboys, console warriors and what seem to have lopsided views of success. Back in 2016 nobody in their right mind would give Nintendo a decent chance of selling new hardware in PlayStation dominated world. Two years later after a marvelous debut, its selling at a good pace and there are some folks who are ringing the alarms. Strange times.

Switch is currently in its early adopters/new thing phase of its product lifecycle and with how things are currently going, the system is doing just fine, better then expected really. With holiday shopping kicking off (and Nintendo systems historicly benefitting from the holidays) the Switch will have some good weeks ahead.

@bluemage1989 Oh of course there's more needed games than KH! But, as a giant KH fan, that's what I'm speculating on at the moment. Still, as long as Square Enix keeps providing JRPG support in the form of both ports and new games, what those games are doesn't matter all to much for the Switch. Personally, KH 1.5+2.5+2.8 collection on the go would be one of my most hyped possibile remasters, alongside Valkyrie Profile or Chorno Cross.

Then of course, you have games from Activision-Blizard like Spyro Trilogy and Overwatch (and CoD... I guess...), Ubisoft could stand to bring over AC: Rogue or Liberation HD or something... along with announcing whatever their new switch project(s) is/are. I'd love Rayman 6 to happen this decade. Capcom is... well uh... okay, they've already brought over most of their heavy hitting back catalog, but I have no idea what they're up to in the future other than REmake 2. Still, the next Megaman game (alongside a BN/SF/Legends/ZX/Zero collection, whichever) would be nice to have from them.

Sega... yeah... I got nothing they could bring these days. They really need to up their quality before I trust their games again. Hopefully the delay on Team Sonic Racing brings it up to par with the excellent (albeit poorly performing) Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. Maybe a Sonic Mania 2? Oh, and bring over the Shenmue ports, I want to try those out. Maybe they could even pull off something new in the Shining or Super Monkey Ball series?

Level-5 needs to start localizing the games they've already released. We know what they've got on the horizon too though, so not much to discuss there. I'd love to see Atlus release... something already. I know they have SMT V coming, but something smaller like an Etrian Odyssey would be nice to see if that's not happening anytime soon. I literally couldn't care about anything EA could offer other than porting ME Trilogy or DA Trilogy, but those ain't happening.

I'd love for WB to announce a new Arkham game for Switch, but that seems like a pipe dream. Injustice could make it over sometime soon though, either 2 or a new one. Don't care about Mortal Kombat, but that'd probably make some people happy.

And finally, we have Bandai Namco. While Tales of, Digimon, MHA, Naruto and more are here or on the way, we could still use an actual Tekken game (Tekken 7 with all DLC please?), Jump Force, Ni no Kuni if that's not a paid exclusive, and SoulCalibur VI. Maybe even a .hack game or two, or Twin Mirror coming over?

Anyways, there ya go, discussion on the other companies.

Sega could totally bring over the Yakuza games. The set-up of the series (longer story missions aside) with mini-games, quick beat downs and other gangster stuff would be great in portable mode. Apparantly Nintendo is trying to get the series on the system, but Sega doesn’t seem to be convinced.

Essentially every Japanese game.

Wait.

So because Europe sold 60k more PS4 than Switch in a given week/mo/whatever, that's "dire" while ignoring Switch is outselling PS4 in Japan by 120k units per month? And both are more even in Americas?

Concern trolling indeed.

For one, even if it is outselling it, so what? It's a beast, it's going to outsell other systems. That only matters to fanboys and is only used as fodder for concern by fanboys. System A outselling system B has zero impact on the outcome of the library of games. The only thing that impacts that outcome is how well Switch is selling period. Not "compared to PS4". Not "compared to Xbox". Not "compared to this arbitrary number I've ascribed which I say it must meet to qualify as good enough".

For two, apples to oranges comparisons dont work even if comparisons did tell us something meaningful. You can't compare a system in year 5 with 2 price drops and full library to a system in year 2 with 0 price drops and 1/3 of a full library. IF comparisons must be made, it must be apples to apples-->

Switch year 1 to PS4 year 1
Switch year 2 to PS4 year 2

In both cases Switch has sold just as well if not better. Not that the comparison is worth a crap anyways, but if it was that would be the comparison you make.

If Switch hits 15m by the end of year 2, I'd say it doesn't need a price cut (and I think it'll hit 15m). Holiday 2019, then I would say is a good time for a price cut. But its selling well now (and yes, 15m in a year is selling well no matter how you spin it, and that's why people aren't concerned, because 15m is good no matter WHAT PS4 happens to be doing). Pokemon and Smash are 2 of the biggest games this holiday season- price cut isn't needed right now. When sales are on course for 10m a year, price cut that sucker. Not at 15m.

And lastly, coming into a Switch thread and calling anyone who contests your delusional assertions a "Nintendrone" only serves to make you a troll of epic order. People call you a liar for the conclusions drawn not for stating facts. Facts are fine. Concluding Switch is somehow in trouble and sales are stagnant because PS4 in it's best selling years, as one of the best selling consoles of all time, sold 60k more than Switch in one region for one month... that's delusion. Or willful ignorance. Take your pick.

Hi can anyone help, I've just bought a switch today eevee bundle. I'm trying to link up using my nintendo account so i can play the game. I put in my email and password but when I get to the screen saying "this nintendo account will be linked to the switch console" nothing. I can see my icaon and username dob etc. Underneath there is a cancel box and a link box. The trouble is I cant seem to highlight either and pressing A button does nothing. The only thing I can do is to press X which cancels the whole thing and I have to start again. I'm stuck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Please disregard I turned it off and on again. Then and only then did I get a message to update the left controller. Nintendo make me so mad sometimes.

but let Nintendo worry about Nintendo.

I've noticed that the more time I've spent on gaming forums, the less I seem to care about the system sales. Who cares? Does it matter if the Switch won't sell 20 million this year or whatever their prediction was but only 19 million? The only people that (should) care about that are the investors. They survived the Wii U, we don't have to worry about Nintendo in the coming years.

@Grumblevolcano
Probably. But there is anyways so, what's new.

I already know they're not gonna hit 20. Theyll hit 15. The same 7m over the holiday quarter they did last year, plus an average of 2.67m per quarter for the remaining 3 quarters.

It's still good, and up there with 3DS in its top years, Wii in its 2nd or 3rd highest year, and PS4 in some of its years.

Precisely.

Inasmuch as sales are concerned, we only need to care it doesn't flop. As long as it's doing well, it doesn't matter if its 10m/yr or 20m/yr, its gonna get games. Beyond that is either fanboys stroking their egos flaunting sales spun in a positive light, and fanboys quelling their insecurities and jealousies by broadcasting sales spun in a negative light. Either way its fanboy nonsense.

Said it last year and it's worth saying again- Switch is doing well enough, that's all that matters.

Also, they're literally giving away PS4s and Xbox Ones again with $200 bundles this Black Friday, going for the "race to the bottom" pricing model. I'd be shocked if the PS4 doesn't outsell the Switch this Black Friday.

But the general consumer is still in love with the Switch and Smash/Pokemon hype are damn high. Smash has the entire month to its own, it's going to explode in sales.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

Shake weight is outselling Switch in Alabama. I think this is a problem and we should all begin buying preserved seeds.

@subpopz Well, the Switch is doing Wii/PS4 numbers with around 20 million a year. If that isn't enough, I don't think anything is.

I mean, it's not enough for Pikmin 4, I've accepted that fact, but still... Should be enough for most games

iPhone 1 started to sell like a hotcakes after a 33% price drop after few months...3DS was a disaster before first big price drop, i'm just saying that Nintendo need to risk short term losses. Switch played almost all its big cards by now (with Pokemon and Smash). Need to look at the bigger picture

@cobalt yeah its called fanboy blindness!

I'ma break it down for ya Grumble- You dont see any reason because there isn't any.

What it boils down to, is certain individuals who envy your happiness, excitement and joy they see you have with regard to Switch. And their response to cope with that envy is not further their own happiness, but rather knock yours down a peg or two.

And they will use whatever desperate method they can conjure up, be it constantly de-hyping conversations by repeatedly reinforcing that games are ports therefore you shouldn't be excited and if you are, you're just pathetic or desperate (translation: be less excited), or by proclaiming sales are bad and therefore you should be less excited, and instead you should be concerned (translation: be less excited), or by nitpicking reasons to eliminate as many games as possible from being objects of excitement therefore you have nothing to be excited about (translation: be less excited).

There's two kinds of people in a gaming thread- people happy about the games they're playing, excited and sharing in those awesome experiences, and those scowling from a distance, secretly hating your happiness, and looking to quell that jealousy by any means necessary- hence the "oh it's just another port" and "oh I already played this game on my superior system that gave me the game first"
(translation: the game already released therefore you shouldn't be excited), or "oh it's too expensive (translation: you shouldn't be excited) or "oh Switch is missing games X, Y and Z" (translation: you need these specific games to be happy therefore you shouldn't be excited).

They will never realize that your happiness is not contingent upon any of the hogwash they're trying to sell. And no matter how many times they try to kill your enjoyment, it will never fill that hole of envy toward your satisfaction. And in order to not feel like they appear to be envious fanboys to everyone else (and I say feel, because to everyone except them that's exactly what they appear as), 2 or 3 such like-minded individuals will pat each other's backs, reinforcing what the other says, assuring each other it's everyone else that's the fanatics, and not themselves. As long as someone else is telling them "ya! you're right! Ha, of course everyone else is a fanboy, but not you and me... nope, we're the enlightened ones, the only ones who make any sense and see things "how they are" (translation: how they want them to be so others feel less excited)

@link3710 i didn't want to sound like I was being critical of yourselves its cool to want it to come and I hope it does I just don't think it will sell particularly well on Switch.

As for other companies looking at Ubisoft I really hope they have another Nintendo related game on the way. Mario+Rabbids was great and I'm looking forward to playing Star Link great use of Star Fox there but I'd like to see them tackle another IP maybe something that has been dormant for a while. As crazy as it sounds I'd like to see Nintendo pay to have Just Dance go exclusive with Nintendo. I know it sells on other systems and while I'm far to lazy to go trawling for sales figures I think I'd say with confidence that Ubisoft wouldn't lose a great deal by doing so. I think a non subscription Just Dance on Switch would help reach the casuals and convince them to buy into the Switch but I'm no analyst I could be wrong in so many ways. Rogue HD would be awesome been hoping for it alongside the Ezio Collection. BG&E 2 would be a dream come true unlikely though.

Activision hmmm hard to say. I think Overwatch would do okay as well as COD but without single player I think it would be a hard sell to a Nintendo audience (original Splatoon and Arms lack of substantial single player seemed a common criticism) but Spyro would do well for sure.

Capcom hmmmm there's been some good support but I hope they are one company who will continue to push forward with it. As for an exclusive I wouldn't mind seeing Nintendo making a Dragons Dogma sequel happen. Think it bridges the whole eastern/western RPG gap quite well.

Sega could have me with Yakuza but I think that's unlikely. I have little interest in Sega these days been burnt to many times.

EA. Madden. That is it.

Konami. Who knows there's been some support but I feel there a hard company to trust. I think some remastered classics would go down well.

Call me a fool but I think a Devils Third sequel with lessons learnt from the debacle of the first game could be great. Build on the lore give me a new take on a Metal Gear esque world with refined gameplay.

Just some of my complely unreasonable and unlikely thoughts.

@JaxonH that made me laugh but your spot on. Glad to see the haters dont knock your enthusiasm. I think every forum needs someone such as yourself to keep the balance with the doomers.

Unrelated anyone out there played any of the fishing games that have come to Switch lately??
