Oh come on. You don't believe anything Cobalt says, do you? He also claims that a new version of Switch is coming next year. Yet there's no proof of that. He's anti-Nintendo, that's what.

Dear lord. Sorry to hear that happen to FaeKnight. What we need to prevent things like this from happening is for police to police the internet. Too many trolls and whackjobs on the internet and it's time the people take back the internet from the nutcases. What happened to FaeKnight cannot go unpunished.

@Alantor28 Cobalt has been right on some things like the Smash Ultimate hardware bundle (including the design). It's less about believing and more about some of the things said make sense.

Like the PS5 thing, I could see 2019 or 2020 happening. Leaning towards 2020 but Sony could easily pull a BotW with games like TLoU2 and/or Death Stranding.

PS5 will be early 2020. Like a March release. PS4 has enough exclusives for now to bolster their line-up and if 2019 would be achievable, we’d hear more rumours or smaller rumblings surrounding possible production plans and Foxcon (or whoever will mass produce the console) describing future production lines.

Deep bruising and seriously pissed, but otherwise yeah. I'm all right. I have a little training in how to take a hit, and the (really comfy) chair in the living room kept me from flying backwards very far or breaking anything like my TV.

I just don't understand why someone would do that. Especially over something as stupid as getting passed in Mario Kart. I mean, don't these people realize that their own identity isn't as secure since the authorities can legally get the information? And that SWATing is a federal crime that can get you life in prison, and has been since 2013? And that's before the state court systems get involved. The message the clown sent also was clear evidence of intent to cause harm, so I doubt the 'it was just a harmless prank by a kid' defense would work, depending on the age of the person responsible.

I'm an eye for an eye kinda guy so...

Anyway, yeah this is why we use VPNs and such. Online gaming is just a way for people to be evil to each other and this is EXACTLY why certain games shouldn't be online.

Considering the person in question's profile says they are across the country from me, I'll probably never actually know what happens to them. Most SWATing instances don't make the national news after all. Not unless there's an innocent or police fatality/injury involved. I've already given the police what information I could. And I'm really glad I'd opened the door rather then having it broken down. Even if that did mean I got hit by the battering ram.

@FaeKnight how exactly did he locate you so completely? And what did he tell authorities about you to cause that? Thats extreme. They dont send swat unless its bad, and this isnt something ive heatd of happening virtually ever

Basically they can find out your IP address, locate the physical location, make a fake 999 call of immense horrifics and suddenly you have weapons at your door.

@Knuckles-Fajita and how exactly are they selling online games at all then, if they're an immediate extreme danger? Either online gaming should be fully banned, or it's a pretty rare event. A random phone call that some ip address is an evil horrible bad murderer, when anyone could do that shouldn't lead to immediate attack without investigation.

I mean if it's that bad, all online games should be immediately discontinued.

How are you doing anything online at all? Anyone can see your IP address if they know how to look. Doesn't have to be a game.

I have no clue what steps were taken to find my location. But the police thought there was a home invasion in progress, with a child already having been shot and killed. Makes me really glad I was playing something peaceful instead of a military shooter.

Sadly, swatting is a thing. Last December an innocent man was killed by police when a basshole got the wrong address while trying to do it to someone he was arguing with online.

The good thing is the scum bucket sent his mustache twirling calling card so hopefully jail time is in his future. I hope there is some way you can sue as well. (I’m all for financially ruining horrible people when possible)

The closest I have had to deal with is I had somebody here send me a four page long rant/threat because I said I would buy a game. Part of the reason why I lean so heavily on the ignore list here.

Honestly, other then getting hit by the battering ram it was no worse then the 6 or seven times someone has tried to mug me. Which yeah, it's kind of scary. But I have this tendency to be scarily calm during the event and only panic afterwords. Right now I'm more angry (and sore) then anything.

@NEStalgia it’s like any other form of doxxing. You’d have to ban video game forums , online games and the internet to make that mess stop and while it would save lives that is too heavy handed/unreasonable to deal with creeps. So instead you modify your own behavior and hope it is enough. Remember everybody is so PC and easily offended until the bullies fee fees get hurt. Then it’s threats (and sometimes follow up) and no platform time. Because you disagreeing or using logic is violence but actual violence....well you were asking for it.
