A central hub is a neat idea, but silly if you can't get out of the car. They should make a Yakuza-esque game with Captain Falcon and lots of street races, set in a sci-fi cyberpunk-ish world somewhere in space. Beat up some baddies, and do some racing. Maybe that's a terrible idea too...
@bluemage1989 It's already happened... sort of. So at (one of the many) end(s) of Star Fox Command, Fox and Falco get into 'G-Zero' racing. Plus, F-Zero has James McCloud (A human version of Fox's father) and Leon (a parody of Wolf) as recurring racers. So it'd be a little odd, but there's nothing in specific that would prevent Star Fox, F-Zero, and Metroid from officially crossing over, thanks to Captain Falcon and Samus both working as bounty hunters for the Galactic Federation.
Yeah, i think Nintendo fans have to high expectations of retro. They have released two games in the last ten years. There is a big chance that any game coming from them will be really disappointing for fans and will face a backlash.
An open space exploration game would fit nicely within the starfox universe I think. I wouldn't call starlink a fox game though.
Overall I think the starfox universe have the potential to be broaden up a bit if Nintendo would be open to some world building. While I agree with their philosophy that game play is a priority, a bit more thinking on the story side wouldn't hurt.
@Octane Well, they can't think of anything interesting to do with F-Zero. It makes sense, I mean what of interest can you do with a game with anti-grav hover craft on magnetic racetracks deep in the future?
Add a licensed dance club soundtrack, weapons, a big sense of style over gameplay and make it impossible to control?
@FaeKnight Uhm, wait, what?!?! What the heck happened?
To start with, Faerie Knight is my online screen name. Various forums and such will have variations of it, but it's pretty easy to tell it's me. I tend to use the same avatar pic (a fairy sim from The Sims 3 I made), the same or similar name, and so forth. A couple days ago I went online and played a few races of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. During those races I got and used a few red shells to pass my opponents. Didn't win any races, but did come in 4th place once or twice. Didn't think anything of it since that's how you play the game. Heck, I'd gotten hit by 2 red shells, a bomb, a few green shells, and so forth during the course of the races. It's all good.
Anyway, last night at around 7pm I was on my xbox 360 playing A World of Kefflings online and got a message. I didn't check it right away though since I was doing stuff. A few minutes later I looked towards the window and saw a red light through the blinds. I thought it was the pizza I'd ordered from Dominos. Instead of receiving a pizza, what happened when I opened the door was I got a police battering ram to my stomach since I'd opened the door just as the local SWAT team was about to break down the door.
The police, as it turns out, had gotten a 911 call that supposedly came from my apartment about a violent home invasion that had already had a child shot and killed. When I'd finally managed to calm things down (it helped that there were no firearms in my apartment or dead/injured people besides myself) I was able to check the message I'd received shortly before the police showed up. And the message was someone bragging about how I was going to pay for passing them and being a 'red shell cheater'. As well as hoping I'd get killed. Meaning someone was so angry about Mario Kart that they tracked down where I actually live, possibly via my IP address, and falsely reported a violent crime in progress in the hopes the police would go in guns blazing.
The Xbox Live gamer tag is identical to one of the Nintendo usernames I'd encountered recently while playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I'm not going to name names, but neither I nor the police were very amused by this since some clown tried using the police as an execution squad to make me pay for... playing Mario Kart the way it's always been played.
While the on-hand paramedics didn't think there was anything life threatening, I went to see a doctor this morning to be sure. And I got off lucky due to starting to move backwards the instant I saw the battering ram and going limp when it hit me. There's 'just' deep bruising.
@NEStalgia All I want is Super Mario 64... with 4K graphics, orchestra music, immersive sounds and all in THX, all the levels from Galaxy 1 & 2, Odyssey and Sunshine. Also a level editor, online, free DLC for fifty years and for the game to be ported to each future Nintendo console entirely for FREE! As a gamer, I don't this is too much to ask of Nintendo

Nintendo's just living in the past, selling us the same games over and over with a few updates. They can't even come up with new games, why do they keep selling us the same ones over and over!!
@NEStalgia Nintendo makes brand new IP like Splatoon...
LOL Nintendo are for kids. How did this win awards over Battlefront and COD? They made this game over a new Mario or Zelda? Nintendo never listens to their fans!

Anyway moving on from that, listening to fans only can lead to stagnation and lack of new ideas. Honestly I'd rather companies try new things while keeping what works, which is why Mario and Xenoblade works really well throughout their games.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
They're just preparing a fat juicy steak while tinkering with their newest project. They'll be fine. Even if there have been some problems, I assume the higher ups in Japan sent someone to flip some coffee tables and get everything on track. I'm just curious on whats coming next.
@Therad World building in Star Fox? You clearly don't know the Nintendo way, it's needs a new way to control, and another reboot preferably. Why reinvent the story when the original is just as good?
@Sadist Wait are you saying those tweets were real? Retro's next project is a barbecue simulator video game confirmed!
@Octane I think the next control scheme will require a person to grow an additional four arms to control the 4 screen gamepad the Switch will receive as part of next year's updated system
All this rumors about Retro becoming a Microsoft studio is just pathetic. People think they can believe anything on the internet these days. The internet has become a cancerous place over time... smh.
