@Ralizah Ok I take back my earlier defense for you in terms of controllers. I'm leaving you for the wolves. :^]

Looks like Risk of Rain had a stealth release today. It's $9.99. It was a well received indie game. I had fun with it on the Vita.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate just got a patch yesterday. Adds clicking L3 to run similar to World. I will still always use ZR to run (well, R, but you can swap L/R with ZL/ZR) though. It's just normal to me in MH games.

But it's awesome they're patching the game and adding things in. Especially enhancements added from World. I find that very interesting.

@EvilLucario Every thread I post to becomes an "unpopular opinions" thread.

It's not a terrible game. I enjoyed it well enough when I played it. Solid 7/10. But it's one of those things where I become more critical than I reasonably should because people treat it like the holy grail of the genre.

I liked it more than Earthbound, at least.

@EvilLucario I think your cat might need to make use of a treadmill or five.

@EvilLucario LOL!

@Ralizah It's not that ever thread becomes the unpopular opinions thread. If you change your opinions to not be the wrong ones, you'll be fine!

Wow, assailing Chrono Trigger and Earthbound in a single thread. Wow. That's courage of steel. Well, you've certainly been a valuable member of these forums, see you on IGN!

Well, Tokyo Mirage remains probably my favorite RPG of all time, so I have no room to complain on that front Never too easy, never too hard, great world, great characters, fun story, never took itself too seriously, and way too addictive battle, even if it was spammy at times. I'd buy and play it again if it were ported.

That is either a tiny person, or the cat is incredibly large. And look at that expression! Clearly El Kitty didn't expect to be picked up.

@gcunit @gcsubpops I did find this video interesting:

It's mostly about homebrew testing, but TL;DR; it looks like the write speeds on the U3 cards are indeed about 3x faster than the U1 cards which is pretty much what it says on the box. Read speads are more or less the same (switch can't saturate, or barely saturates UHS1, but the write speeds are so dismal on all of these that the U3 honestly really matters. So you get a choice of a U1 card that takes pretty much overnight to download anything, but get more bulk storage, or a U3 card that downloads reasonably but less total storage.

Makes sense. The 400GB cards are tempting but I think I'd rather have snappy operation and more physical AAA games than tons of bulk local space. I can always get multiple SD's and swap between 3 as easy as tons of game cards if I go that route ever. There's a reason my storage case comes with little SD mini cases that fit in the game case slots I guess 128 is just running out of space. 12GB left and Smash is due soon. That was always going to be digital, "game sharing" or no for me. 16GB of Vespyria can stay on a game card thx.

It's the palico chef from Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate!

Okay, after watching that video I looked over my SD card in the Switch, and found it's a U1 card. Which would explain why it takes an hour to 2 hours to download and install a Switch game.

@NEStalgia I did like the freedom you have to influence some events in Chrono Trigger: for example, killing Magus or having him join you, or the fact that you can bring Crono back to life. I didn't care much for the goofy prehistoric and futuristic settings, though, and I'm struggling to think of a single character I cared about by the end. And I'll never understand the praise for the music.

It's possible I also don't like time travel plot elements in games, as I didn't much care for Atlus' Radiant Historia, either.

Doing all the optional content really does help flesh out the characters a lot. For example if you let Robo stay in the past to help with reforestation you learn more about the inventor's past, and have a chance to prevent her mom from getting crippled. Or the optional stuff in the future fleshes out Robo's character a lot more. I've always thought it neat how what you do in one time period affects future time periods. And New Game+ giving you different endings based on where you are in the story when you defeat Lavos was brilliant.

My Sound Stone started tingling. Who said something even mildly bad about EarthBound?

Other than these vids, anything else new or detailed out of TGS today?

@FaeKnight Aha, so we have the same problem! Yep, that's it, I'm getting the 256 U3 instead of the 400GB U1. Almost half the price too so that doesn't hurt.

@Ralizah Ahh, so the time travel thing is what fascinates me. I love that sense of this is the same place in a completely different time, and the causality paradox of affecting the future by changing the past. And that footage looks soooo good. Want, want want want want! But...Torna first....

@FaeKnight "Did the little pirate girl ride off on a rocket?!"
I mean, it's Japan.....don't you just expect that without having even seen it?
