Topic: The Nintendo Switch Thread

It's clearly the cartridge vs. disc mess. We'd be getting physical versions of all Capcom games that came to Switch if it was a stationary system with a disc drive rather than a hybrid with a cartridge slot.

At least the games are coming now. And the Switch, like the Vita before it, works really well as a digital download machine if you're willing to part with the cash to get enough storage space on it ($100+ for 32 GB of space on a PS Vita memory card was brutal at the time, but it was the right call, in retrospect, and allowed me to fully enjoy my system).

@Grumblevolcano To be fair we didnt get physical releases of the Megaman Legacy Collections on any platform here so...makes no difference to us. Heck Capcom relied on other parties to localise a lot for us, or we never got it period.

So I decided to bite the bullet on Shovel Knight before finishing Xenogears.

Ended up playing two levels.

Now I feel like I NEED to beat Shovel Knight now. Before Xenogears.

Damn. Rip my internal "don't buy new games until you beat the ones you already have" rule.

@EvilLucario Shovel Knight's great. I paced myself to 2 levels a day, but you could beat it in a day or so.

Gosh, I hadn't realised that either! ..that box art (either one) would've looked so, so nice on a Switch case too!

That really is sad to learn! It looks like such a wonderfully considered port - almost like it could make a 'new home' for itself on Switch - and the potential box-art alone would have (to me at least) made it an all-the-more attractive physical purchase...such a shame, no matter how you cut it

Not overly surprising so we will just wait and see if EA steps up to the plate on the Switch and offers other sports games. We already know the Switch version has sold well in other countries too. I'm starting to wonder if it has crossed a million copies sold for the Switch.

Now this is interesting. Nintendo really thinking outside the box, and could lead to really cool future Switch consoles.

Meh. I don't want "new ways to use it." I just want to play games on it wherever I like. New, exciting games, particularly.

I just Really Hope EA consider The Sims 4 for Switch with SAME Contents (Expansion Packs, Stuffs, DLCs, etc) as PS4 version, considering Switch sales was Really great.

Yeah even though I haven't played a Sims game in ages, it's a perfect match with Switch and probably a dob for me. It's great to sink in on the couch on a lost free night or on the go, in the train or wherever playing portable.

EA ignores Switch to their own detriment.

Same goes for Activision and WB and all these other publishers. Switch is a money making machine. Come get some... Or don't. Either way I got money to spend on Switch games, practically my entire PS4/X1/PC/3DS/Wii U budget is being funneled into Switch games.

They don't want a piece, that's on them.

Hey question, anyone have any clue what Nintendo EPD is up to these days? I know the 1-2 Switch team is working on Labo, and the mobile team is on Mario Kart Tour, but... what else are they up to? They typically have another six or so projects for the year, but I'm not sure what they are.

And I have no clue if they're involved with Metroid Prime 4
Are they behind the DK:TF port or the Luigi's Mansion port? Otherwise, it seems like they're rather suspiciously silent at the moment.

@JaxonH This is what happens when Nintendo has been out the loop in terms of being a viable place for decent third party sales. The problem I think is the big publishers don't want to spend the time, money and spare the developer resources to decently port their games over to the Switch then spend the money buying/manufacturing the cartridges.

Ya, that's pretty much it.

But the more Switch sells and the more examples of games proving ample profits... the harder it's going to be for them to ignore available revenue free for the taking.

But ya, this is the first actual, viable Nintendo platform since the Cube. It'll take a little time building support back up. But I'm grateful for every game we get given the hybrid HD nature and local co-op and Joycons and motion and all that jazz that comes with being on Switch. Already the most impressive handheld machine and lineup to date.

But if they can crank it up a notch or three now that its abundantly clear the system makes people money, it can get even better.
