@gcunit So what is the correct answer? If you say the Switch then your answer is biased because it is based on almost one year and the others are based on multiple years.

The Switch is doing very good and it could even be better. There is a lot of potential left (Virtual console, apps (Youtube, Netflix, streaming), online, internet).

Also very, very happy Xenoblade 2 sold above 1 million. Well deserved.

So apparently there are only 5million people who own a Switch that don't own Mario Odyssey. Wow. And I get the feeling that the only reason BOTW has 7million copies on Switch is because of people who owned it on Wii U, and then got a Switch. (Like me)

Glad to see I was actually right for once in predicting Switch would overtake the Wii U back before the system launched. Being a huge Nintendo fan who generally looks at things from a glass half full perspective, I tend to get carried away during events like E3 and the Switch presentation. When the dust finally settles I am usually more realistic but with the Switch my optimism for the console and its chances of success has never waned. I've owned my Switch now for just short of 8 months and I'm still in the honeymoon period with it and likely will be for a long time to come, I love the thing.

@Scrummer Mario Odyssey was probably also a more common present than BotW over the holidays especially as there were actual Mario Odyssey hardware bundles.

@gcunit Does that also include digital sales? Because digital has SKYROCKETED current gen and didn't exist at all in past gens. Something tells me including $10 indie games, that attach rate is very much not right....

@YummyHappyPills On a single platform, without micro-transactions, and with a budget that dwarfs in comparison to that of BFII.

Super Mario Odyssey hit 9.07m units on Switch.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 hit just shy of 7m shipped on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

I believe in this instance we can all agree that good, EA has been stung for being prats with the license.

@Octane with costumes you can just buy with in-game currency. Apparently that's rare now.

@Scrummer You can include me in that! I'm happy with my games selection right now and don't really feel any pressing need to add to it at the moment - Odyssey is sitting pretty at the top of my backlog though (and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to it one day) ..but I'm in no rush - a great game will still be a great game a few months after its initial release after all

@NaviAndMii Maybe I'm too old to get "social gaming" I play games to be anti-social! Maybe "social gamers" aren't really "gamers" but their own thing. People talk about wanting to talk to friends like a phone service on their console and play with friends....I thought that was real life? Which I play games explicitly to escape from because I can't afford one of Bezos' flights to Mars. Maybe I can get a Prime discount on that.

Then even grizzled old Thanos is into social play. Sea of Theives looks interesting..but it still seems like the same meandering sandbox type thing. The idea of connected play could be cool, like MH, with actual goals to team up on (or PVP competition)....but connected play to "do stuff". Play golf. Why would I fire up a video game about thug life to play a mediocre golf minigame? I'm clearly not the audience...but I wish I could understand the mindset of the audience (Wow, 4 new pages since this....thread moves fast!)

I decided to try if I can add money on Japanese eShop account. I heard it's not possible but I had to see it for myself. And yes, I couldn't. While I was on the Japanese eShop, I noticed that Japan just got Crypt of the Necrodancer. It wasn't in the coming soon list last Thursday. I wonder if we'll get it soon as well.

@YummyHappyPills I never expected Rocket League to take the FE Warriors approach, that's fantastic!

@Grumblevolcano I'm more happy that settings things like that are available without needing to buy a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X first.

Don't know why they ARENT on the base hardwares, but whatever.

Doesn't that put people using quality mode at a disadvantage when playing online?

Then again I can also play PUBG at sub-competitive FPS on my PC.

It's a thing you activate via an option and you know what you are getting into if you go online with those modes. The game isn't giving you a disadvantage in this case by force, rather you are choosing to play online with a disadvantage.
