@IceClimbers True, but I can see Capcom being against the localization due to it detracting from World. Yes, very contrived and strange-arcing to achieve that, but we are talking about Capcom after all.
@Grumblevolcano Oh? I didn't pay much attention to whole affair, honestly, did they cover a lot of September stuff and a little beyond that? I know they did Rabbids, Skyrim and a whole lot of indie stuff, but I didn't see Xenoverse 2, for example.
If my memory serves me correctly, there's usually a Direct in September (?) ..fingers crossed! Nintendo are sure to want to hit holiday season hard though so, who knows, maybe they still have a surprise up their sleeves? ..there seems to be a convenient little window after Mario Odyssey for something else, perhaps?
It doesn't. Here's a graph showing the number of ordinary Nintendo directs that weren't Japan/South Korea only, weren't game specific specials and weren't related to E3. By month, per year. If we're going to try and guess what they'll do? I'd say that October is usually when they do a Direct to build up a bit of hype going into Christmas. Feburary through April is typically when they clear the decks before E3. Between May and September is the quiet period with E3 right in the middle.
@Peek-a-boo People keep refering to Tokyo Game Show as something that we should look out for in the West. There's no guarantee that any game there gets a localization, since it is the Tokyo Game Show after all.
People do this every year. When there's nothin good at E3 people say "wait for Gamescom". When there's nothing good at gamescom people say "wait for tgs". the process repeats itself.
@EvilLucario Reggie did say that, but he didn't specify what type of game. Since then we've gotten several games announced from third parties and indies, so that statement has already been fulfilled.
I wouldn't expect anything 1st party unless it's an eShop title like Pushmo or Mario vs Donkey Kong.
@LeRaposa People want to have something they can hopefully get some games from, I get that. But Tokyo Game Show, and how Japan does tend to keep a lot of games to itself seems counter-intuitive to me.
I can't wait for holiday 2018. By that time Switch will have surpassed Wii U and Vita. And we should hopefully see alot more announcements for Switch, and alot less for dead systems.
@gcunit
I agree, if you're only using it once a week, powering off might be a better choice.
But my original response, as I recall, was because someone was complaining about how cumbersome it was to turn the system on and off. And if you're using the system often enough to deem it cumbersome, then one should really consider using the system as it was intended (and it was designed for sleep mode, otherwise they'd let you power off remotely- but they knew people would, out of habit, try to do so anyways no matter what, and sometimes the only way you can show someone the light of a better way, is to actually edge them toward it).

Even if they wait until October they could still have a fairly substantial Direct, especially if they use the rapid fire headlines format they used in April.
They could easily start with 3DS and give the rundown for the upcoming titles (Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Etrian Odyssey V, Layton's Mystery Journey, Apollo Justice Ace Attorney, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon, and that Kirby game that still needs revealed). Then they talk in depth about Mario Odyssey. Then the Switch headlines covering the rest of the year (Touhou Kobuto V, Battle Chasers Nightwar, Axiom Verge, Nights of Azure 2, FE Warriors, Xenoblade 2, Skyrim, Rocket League, Sonic Forces, WWE 2K18, the Telltale games coming, Payday 2, Monopoly, etc), giving release dates for those that need it. DLC Pack 2 for Zelda and Pack 1 for Mario + Rabbids, as well as new content for ARMS and Splatoon 2 would of course be mentioned as well. Then talk about early 2018 some.
@gcunit If you're not using it every single day (or at least 3-5 days a week), it's definitely better to turn the system off. Sleep mode consumes power indeed, and despite it being not a lot, it wears the battery down too. Definitely make sure to turn it off completely if you know you won't use the system for a good while (more than a week or two), Li-ion battery wear out quickly if they're left at a low power state. Make sure to turn it on once in a while, because batteries slowly ''leak'' charge even when they're turned off.
Actually, now that I think about it, they may be better off doing a Direct the first full week of September (so not next week, but the week after) and tossing in MH Stories, Metroid, YW2, Pokemon GS, NBA 2K, Pokken DX, DB Xenoverse 2, One Piece, and FIFA in the rundowns. That way they can do another Direct in November with a bigger focus on early 2018; if they wait until October the Direct focusing on the first half of 2018 won't be until early January most likely, which probably wouldn't go over well with fans lol.
Definitely looks like the release schedule picks up quite a bit after Mario + Rabbids launches on Tuesday.
If Sony are buying exclusive deals to keep games off the Switch, then why is Dragon Quest Builders 2 also coming to the Switch as well as PS4 but not Vita? And anyway I am not sure whether Sony doing this would actually make that much of a difference to their Japanese market as that is very much Nintendo dominated with two consoles.

Darn it, can we just stop with this talk already. I'm sick of it.
It's not like I turn off my Switch every single day — I don't even play it that much at this time. I will still say that it is cumbersome, as holding it up and having to hold press the button is rather annoying, and I'm not the only one to have voiced this opinion before. I hear suggestions from people that it should have the ability to turn off from a menu.
And it's not even the dang power button that is the main issue here, I don't use my Switch often because I'm still waiting for the games i'm interested in to release. And I didn't even say that I routinely turn off the console. I leave it on sleep mode when I'm actually using it, but unfortunately everyone jumped to the wrong conclusion over one post I made.
