@Reginald
The Switch is even easier than 3DS, you just have to use it as intended, and I know that is difficult for people who have trained themselves to think a device absolutely has to be turned off all the way.
I realize I'm replying back to an old post but anyway. I'm sorry man, but I'm not going to continuously recharge my Switch if I'm not even using it. I once left a fully charged Switch in sleep mode for about a week or so without touching it in that time. When I later checked it, the battery was close to 1%. So yes, it will still drain even in sleep mode. If my Switch is not seeing use for a long period, then I'm just going to turn it off.
I realize the intent is to leave the console in sleep mode between play sessions. And I DO that, WHEN I'm actually using it. But my Switch right now hasn't seen use for at least two months now, so I'm just going to leave it off in that time. All I said is that I wish the boot up process was quicker and easier.
I already know how the Switch is "properly" meant to be used. I'm honestly annoyed by your response.
I also never said that I turn it off every time I put it down; I don't. So I'm also annoyed at the argument.
Yeah if im not gonna use the Switch for a few months then yes, its actually a good idea to turn the thing completely off. I had mine off for a few weeks till Sonic Mania came out but im pretty much exhausted that game and will leave it off till the next SplatFest and then so on till Mario. After Mario my switch could be off for a few months.
So.... any word on a Sonic Mania patch for Switch? I've been waiting for some of it's issues to be addressed (like the unresponsive/ slow responding Home button, among other things) before buying it. And here we are, over a week later. I hope it's not going to wait until the PC version comes out...
im actually pretty annoyed by this issue. I got the collectors edition for Switch since the red logo looked better than the Blue PS4 strip. The X1 Green is just icky. (M$ in general is, i dont own their products at all) and handheld mode is darling; hopefully this gets fixed quick. But meh im almost done playing it as all the charachters and will be done with it by time they fix it. For noq i pause, them hit home.
@IceClimbers Great stuff! I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'd take 'hybrid FIFA 18' over 'FIFA 18 + The Journey' without giving it a second thought...admittedly, that may be because I didn't own FIFA 17, so won't be missing the recent upgrades - but I'm still pretty excited to have a 'home console' FIFA that I can take with me on the go ..I think that, if the off-screen Gamescom footage is anything to go by, the Switch version is looking pretty decent too!
EDIT: I also wanted to mention EA's other game - Fe - if you haven't done so already, do yourselves a favour and check out the recent trailer...that game looks absolutely gorgeous! ..not usually the biggest fan of EA, but they're getting two thumbs up from me so far for these early Switch games
@rallydefault Energy drain is energy drain. What reason would one have for letting your console sit there, consuming energy and reducing it's life-span, when the time for it to start up hardly matters
...huh?
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that start up from scratch is always the most trying on a system's components. I mean, PC people have known this for decades. The occasional complete shut-down is necessary for updates and decluttering of your system, but in general you want to keep a PC running or in a semi state when not in use so as not to tax the components with constant on-and-off transitioning. And not just electronics: any kind of combustion engine like in your car follows the same rule.
Sleep modes were created to alleviate some of those problems.
Is this at all related to why lightbulbs always seem to burn out when you flip them on? It's for this reason that I always shy away from plugging things in while its switched on.
My IT teacher in highschool would talk about how modems and routers would last longer if they were kept on all the time, rather than turned off and on. He said power surges would lessen their lifespan.
Guess it makes sense for that to apply to other things, like consoles.
More and more Mario + Rabbids impressions are coming out and they're further solidifying themselves as a good game for the system. They're not full-fledged reviews, but it's cool all the same.
I really really hope the game does well! Good games deserve to sell.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
I have no doubt that Mario + Rabbids is earnestly a good game, but it's probably something I would wait until it is discounted. Tactical rpgs aren't really my preference.
Battle Chasers looks nice though as something a little more traditional. I hope it doesn't see delay.
@rallydefault Maybe in theory. I've used a laptop for eight years, turned it off and one every single day, and it worked fine till the very last day. I only got a new one because it wasn't compatible with Windows 10.
I hate all the LEDs that systems have in sleep mode, so I always turn everything off at night.
To add to this nonsense discussion, I've had my desktop for about seven or eight years, and like Octane, I always turn it off at the end of every day. My computer is in the same room that I sleep in, and I like to have silence when I sleep.
All of this talk is making me a bit apprehensive now though. Sigh.
@Reginald Oh goodness I couldn't do that. Back when my rig was in the same room as me it acted as white noise. If the power went out I woke up instantly in a panic....but what can I say computers are family.
I should not be this excited for Pokken; I already owned the game previously.

I haven't seen anyone talk about Switch sales in Japan this week. They're down big time on last week. All sales are down really. The latest Japanese hardware sales from Media Create follow below:
PS4 – 28,779
Switch – 22,277
New 3DS LL – 16,083
New 2DS LL – 14,939
PS4 Pro – 5,909
Vita – 5,177
2DS – 2,999
New 3DS – 575
Wii U – 151
PS3 – 110
Xbox One – 100
That's a big drop from nearly 88,000 the previous week. Please don't say supply was an issue because it wasn't. Also, Splatoon 2 passed the 1 million sales mark in Japan this week.
