@Qwertyninty @NaviAndMii @Ralizah You do realise there is a FPS coming to the Switch right? It's called Rogue Trooper Redux and I think it's coming this year. In fact, the Switch logo is the first on the list which kinda gives me the impression that's likely where they are hedging their sales bets.

@FragRed that's over the shoulder third person shooter not FPS. From the looks of the video so far nothing I will buy doesn't look good gameplay wise to me.

@Qwertyninty Well unfortunately I think that's the nearest we are going to get for the Switch. Until Metroid Prime 4 is released I wouldn't hold my breathe.

@FragRed Just looked up some gameplay. Looks like a third person shooter to me. And... for some reason, you seem to play as Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen, except you're carrying around a machine gun instead of pondering the significance of human life while you meditate on Mars.

Just saw an ad that says Pepsi is giving away Nintendo Switches with purchase of a Pepsi drink or a visit to Snapchat's website.

So, this looks interesting. The first thing that comes to mind is Dead Space.

FPS and sports/racing simulators will likely be the most rare game genres on Switch. For FPS you'll have Metroid Prime 4 in the future and for simulators, FIFA 18 will probably be it thanks to EA creating a lazy port.

@Grumblevolcano I have never personally classified the Metroid Prime series as a pure FPS. At least we have Payday 2 to look forward to (!) As for sports games, there’s FIFA 18, NBA 2K18, Rocket League and WWE 2K18. On the other hand, the less you attempt to look for driving/racing games, the better.

In fact, if you like and prefer playing FPS, driving/racing and sports games, I wouldn’t recommmend a Switch.

Yeah - of course, in an ideal world, the Switch would have all bases covered - I much prefer playing games on my Switch - so, if a multi-platform game catches my eye, the Switch would definitely be my preferred platform to play it on...

Even with FIFA to be honest - I know that the Switch version won't be quite as feature rich as the PS4/X1 equivalents - but the ability to take it on the go would probably be enough to still make me lean towards prioritising the 'gimped' Switch version of the game above its PS4 cousin...

For now though, the PS4 will still be the home for certain genres of game that I like - chiefly FPS's and realistic racers - my dream scenario would be for the Switch to have those bases adequately covered too but, in the mean time, at least I have a couple of reasons to keep my PS4!

We do have a co-operative FPS coming, Payday 2 - but I prefer competitive shooters, so the PS4 will remain my go-to console for that genre for the time being...similarly, Gear.Club looks like it could be a decent racer - but I doubt it'll be a patch on GT Sport or Project CARS, so I'll stick to the PS4 there too. Aside from that though, it's only really Red Dead Redemption 2 that I'm hyped for (which I highly doubt will get a Switch release...unless that's the reason for the delay?? ) ..but the Switch will, going forward, be the home for the majority of the gaming genres that I enjoy - and hopefully, in time, it'll cover more and more bases for me

Some new games have been added to the UK coming soon section, a couple of which I've never heard of before. Robonauts and The Count Lucanor. Both of them look good, The Count Lucanor is rated 9/10 on Steam.

Edit, Count Lucanor was announced way back in June and was reported on here. Missed that one. Regardless, it's spoken very highly of. It didn't go down to well in the NL comment section though.

League of Evil has passed QA for the Switch and is set for release later this month.

@Peek-a-boo Well my point was it being as close as Switch would get, the Metroid Prime trilogy is kind of a mixture between older FPS and Action/Adventure. Nowadays shooters are very on the side of the single player being pretty much a tutorial for online multiplayer but it wasn't always like that.

I did forget about Payday 2 for FPS as well as NBA 2K18 and WWE 2K18 for sports simulators. Rocket League I consider more of an arcade sports game so it fits more in with games like Metroid Prime Blast Ball and the Mario sports games.

Just watched some game play from 'Hollow' that Ralizah posted earlier. Looks really impressive! An FPS horror with, by the looks of it a big budget Just what the Switch needs.

@FragRed it doesn't make sense. I'm very disappointed in Activision output for switch.

@Qwertyninty Activision probably looked back at previous instalments of their franchises on Nintendo consoles and decided that it wasn't worth the costs of porting and then purchasing cartridges for a potential small market.

@Qwertyninty Well, the WiiU was a monumental failure - so you can perhaps forgive the initial cautious approach taken by the larger third-parties - if the Switch continues selling well, publishers will want a piece of that pie...Activision were tempted enough to want a slice of the WiiU pie - and the Switch, even at this early stage, would appear to be a far better proposition - so I can see them jumping on board eventually, either with a straight port, or a special 'COD:Switch'...maybe even a mainline game if they plan from the beginning of development to make it for PS4/X1 and Switch?

It's too early to make any sweeping statements yet...I love Nintendo, but if I was the head of a giant publisher, I'd have probably taken a 'wait and see' approach too given what happened with the WiiU.

A couple more games announced for Switch from Curve Digital. It's not enough they've announced A Knight's Quest, but now they've announced that you'll be able to take The Flame in the Flood and Human: Fall Flat on the road with you. I've heard of the latter because they've played it on Dara Ó Briain's Go 8-Bit. The former is to be released in October.

@Grumblevolcano FIFA 18 isn't even a lazy port though. Only thing missing is that it isn't on Frostbite, so the Journey isn't on it. It has career mode and FUT however, which are the two most important modes. They even built a new custom engine for the game.
