Seriously, we need Metroid maker. Set it up just like the interface of Mario Maker. Only difference here is the larger scale. You could do at least a nes, snes, gba, and 2.5d, creatingg a whole open world 2d landscape. Really not sure if this is truely capable on the switch or not, but if it is I see no reason not to.

Come on Nintendo. Take my money already lol. I'd pre order for sure.

PS Zelda maker also. Just do it

I would be happy if we got any Metroid for Switch this year.

Given that Metroid games aren't that popular, I doubt that a Metroid Maker will happen.

I'm a big supporter of Zelda Maker though. But given that most Zelda Fans on the Internet are not interested in this idea for some reason, it probably won't happen either...

We need a Zelda Maker first.

That dungeon creator in the LA Remake doesn't cut it.

@Justifier this is one reason, which I forgot to state, that I would want this. I think fans of the games could make some great Metroid games if given the tools to do so.

@chipia I think if Metroid went back to it's 2d roots it would be extremely popular. Hollow Knight and Ori games have been quite successful. I see no reason why Metroid couldn't do the same.

@Magician I'm in favor of whichever one would come first. I'm a fan of both.

I think Mario is probably the only example where the time and energy needed to make the "Maker" would be worth the sales.

Metroid would probably be harder for them to make, and would also sell less.

Nintendo has not made a 2D Mario game since releasing Super Mario Maker, so over 5 years. Fans can and have made great content within Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2, but the consistency in gameplay quality and overall presentation has been no where near what it would be if Nintendo developed a new 2D Mario. I don't want top down Zelda and 2D Metroid going on hiatus from being Nintendo developed for being fan developed through Maker games. I do want more new top down Zeldas and 2D Metroid games on the Switch though.

@UncleZeean Na, It would be to hard to make even tho cool, Plus its like what @I-U said They would probably end all other 2d metroid game if not put them on break.

@I-U @Snatcher what 2d Metroid games? Samus Returns was released on the 3ds in 2017. Before that we haven't had one since Fusion and and Zero Mission on the gba. 2004? Nothing on the Switch. I do agree that quality isn't the best on some Mario maker levels, but so many have been a blast. I've never had more fun playing a Mario game. I'm not seeing this plethora of 2d Metroid games tho.

@CactusMan I could see scripting being a problem for Zelda maker for some, but I don't see why you'd need it for Metroid maker necessarily.

I haven't played a good Metroid game since Fusion and Zero Mission. I don't have a 3ds, so can't say anything about Samus Returns. It took 13 years to even get that and it's not on the Switch as far as I know. I'm not sold on the "it would halt all the 2d Metroid games" bit. There aren't any, so why not give us the tools to make them ourselves.

Snatcher

@UncleZeean what he is saying is that they wouldn't make anymore 2d ones if they had a mario maker like game.

@Snatcher were already not getting 2d Metroid. The last one that was released on Nintendo's home console was Super Metroid.

@CactusMan I don't see why this can't be put in the game. It's been done in other game makers

@UncleZeean Samus Returns being the last 2D Metroid game and being a game over 3 years old is even more reason why I wouldn't want a Metroid Maker. Nintendo already seems uninterested in furthering that style of Metroid game, so why would I want them to release a product that shelves those games longer? There has been no new 2D Mario game since the release of Super Mario Maker. I don't want any series getting a Maker treatment if it means Nintendo won't be developing within those series themselves as well.

AM2R took around 10 years to be completed and be released. It doesn't quite have the Nintendo polish, but as a fan game it did manage to do a great job of nailing down gameplay, story and atmosphere that would be expected from a 2D Metroid game. There's another issue with the idea of a Metroid Maker is how committed will makers be to nailing down story and atmosphere within their creation on top of the commitment it would already take to make the gameplay experience feel good. Metroid's environments aren't the size of Mario levels. I think in general it would not be as approachable as a Super Mario Maker, and have very low activity with how long it should take to create anything above decent for a Metroid environment. I think the audience for a Metroid Maker wouldn't be as willing to go through a creation that say is filled with Geemers, has a million Skrees dive-bombing to the ground and has three Ridleys pasted together guarding a Screw Attack. What exactly would be the end point to a Metroid Maker creation? It'll be a lot of work if it's the gunship.

@UncleZeean Not makes sense, a game to do a inteire other game than made stages is something few will like. Metroid is about bosses, exploration and story. Not will work in the same way than a Mario Maker.
Metroid games not sell so much too. So, is natural not have so much. Metroid returns is good, try it if you can. Try Demons Crest from snes online too, and Chasm, if are looking for some substitutes till Switch have a metroid game. But not worry, it will came.
