Anyone else playing this today?

I'm having fun so far! Started a new save file instead of carrying over the old one from the demo. My main character is Hawkeye with the support of Riesz and Duran. The first thing I did was changing the voice acting from English to Japanese, as the former is hilariously bad. I also changed the control scheme.

I'm trying to hunt down a copy..might just have to order from Amazon and wait for it to arrive

Just got my copy in the mail today, decided to carry on with my demo save. I changed the control scheme to Y for light attack, X for heavy attacks, B for dodge, and A for jump which feels so much better to me. Really enjoying my time with it so far! It'll be a good game to hold me over until Xenoblade Chronicles comes out.

@Cynas I agree this sounds like a good layout overall. I feel like when I was a child the b button always was for attacking but now Y and X seems more natural. not real sure when this changed for me lol

This is a really dumb question but how do you use class strikes? My bubbles are flashing blue but I don't recall how to execute –– the demo was over a month ago!

@scoobdoo L (or R?) button + Y, I believe.

Edit: I’ve changed the controller, so Y is my light attack.

When you equip magic/Lumina abilities, how do you actually use them? I can't figure out if there's an action button or if it's automatic

@NintendoByNature Press down on the D-Pad, then press ZL or ZR to switch to the character you want to use the magic. Or you can press up on the D-Pad to open the item menu and press up on the D-Pad again to switch to the magic menu.

When the magic menu is open you can choose to crate a shortcut by holding R and pressing either A, B, X or Y. When you set the shortcut you can use that skill in battle by holding R and pressing the button you set it to when controlling that character.

@Cynas got it thanks. I figured that's what R was for but I guess i never set it to anything. I figured since it was equipped it would automatically work

@Cynas so im at level 19 for each character(Duran, Charlotte, and Hawkeye). The only move (magic) I've been able to use was healing (Lumina I believe) with Charlotte. I've received gnome and sylhpid since then and neither of those 3 can use any of the gnome or sylphid magic. I also changed classes and noticed duran had alot of magic attacks but I cant recall if they were any of those magic types I recently received. It's my assumption that Hawkeye and Duran simply haven't received a magic that they can use yet, is that fair to say?

@NintendoByNature The spells you learn are largely dependant on your character and the classes you choose for them. You can learn the spells by allocating training points in their respective stat, but can't use them until you get that element. So yeah, it's not surprising that you don't have new spells from unlocking a new element because those characters either don't have a spell using that element for their current class or you haven't unlocked it with training points yet.

@Cynas thanks good to know. I assumed it was as such, but I just thought maybe i was doing something wrong. Kind of stinks I'm over 7 hours into the game and can only use 1 magic move thus far, other than that I'm absolutely loving the game.

The demo didn't really sell me honestly, as I didn't play all that much of it. But after getting a hang of the combat, and exploring the town's and caverns, im completely hooked. I rarely go back to games after beating them, but I can see myself playing a 2nd play through with the other 3 characters.

@NintendoByNature Did you start the game as Duran? If so, when starting your next file I recommend starting with someone other than Angela. Each character has a pair that they're cannonically supposed to play the game with (Duran and Angela, Riez and Hawkeye, Kevin and Charlotte). The main story later on is dependant on who you started the game with, and each of the pairs' stories are pretty intertwined, so you'll see a bigger difference in the story if you pick Kevin or Riez as your starting character next time instead of Angela.

@Cynas sweet. Yea i started with duran. I know it sounds weird, but he just seemed like the perfect character to play this game as. I like the Hawkeye alot, but he doesn't seem like a lead guy for this game. Charlotte....is annoying honestly. I picked her for healing purposes only. I'll start with riezs or Kevin next go round though.
