@NintendoByNature As I said, these are minor complaints and doesn't ruin the game as a whole. The controls are, after being configured, mostly good, battles are fun, the character design is charming, the music is great (OK, I agree with some users in this thread that it's not on the DQXI level of great, but it's far from bad and you can change between the original score and the orchestral re-recordings) and I like the concept of six different stories being interwoven (hopefully a little more complex than f.e. Octopath Traveler).
Played for a little over an hour so far. It's good. Probably still day 1, but not as blown away about it as i thought id be. How do you kill bees and bats though?
@NintendoByNature I'd heard the Secret of Mana remake wasn't that good, so I went into this game with some caution. As you say, one doesn't get blown away by the game, but it's still worth playing.
For killing flying enemies: jump and do an attack midair.
The trifecta of 2020 JRPG Remake masterpieces: Xenoblade Chronicles, Trials of Mana and Final Fantasy VII.
That's in your opinion. You are free to like the three games but not everyone will.
Personally I think XC is pretty good but has a few fundamental flaws. FF7 is ok but nowhere near as good as the fans say it is. Trials (SD3) the SNES version is one of the better RPGs on the system. Not as good as ChronoTrigger or Terranigma but I'd say in most people's top 5 or top 10 SNES RPGs. The remake? As long as the remake is better than the Garbage SoM remake, that'll be a plus and possibly worth getting.
It's a lot like the original (obviously) and even Octopath Traveler in that your experience could start off great or bad depending on the main character you pick and how much they resonate with you in terms of story, moveset, etc.
It's not like OT in that regard at all. Trials has you choosing 3 characters from the get go as your party and it's one interwoven story, not 8 separate stories like OT.
In OT you can literally do chapter 1 of your starting character then nothing more from your chosen chatacter if you want. The order in which you do the chapters and find the characters is totally up to you.
SD3 (Trials) doesn't even have this kind of chapter progression.
@Quarth man now I feel real silly. Why didn't i think of that. You're probably asking yourself how does this guy get through games? Honestly I'm not that bad. Just had a brain fart i suppose š
@the8thark
I've played OT rather thoroughly, you don't need to lecture me on it.
I think the two games feel very similar, especially in the early hours. Yes, Trials is one story that you MUST follow, but the games feel very similar to me.
I apologize if my comment upset you for any reason as your comment seems rather defensive.
@the8thark That's in your opinion. You are free to like the three games but not everyone will
Obviously itās my opinion, thatās why I posted it.
I never claimed everyone will like every single game. Not even sure what the point of your response was.

God so loved the world He sent His only Son- whoever believes on Him has eternal life. Unless you believe, you will die in your sins. Whoever believes, rivers of living water flow within them. John

Itās not obvious that your post was your opinion. You clarified that was your intention, however your post didnāt come out like that.
You said the three games are masterpieces. You did not say āin my opinion they are masterpiecesā or similar.
My point was to say your claim of the games being masterpieces is your opinion, not a hard fact. Your post did not mention this.
Itās cool if you like those games, but you used absolute words like āareā. I just fixed up your little mistake. You meant to say āin my opinion I believe they are masterpiecesā instead of āthey are masterpiecesā
Only a small but important rom for improvement. So people know you are talking opinion not fact.
Also if you are saying something that is your opinion, itās only obvious to others if you say itās your opinion. We are not mind readers.
@the8thark Itās not obvious that your post was your opinion.
Yes it is. The fact it came out of my mouth means it's my opinion.
You clarified that was your intention, however your post didnāt come out like that.
Don't really care how you perceive it to come out. I dont need a disclaimer on everything I say. Unless I specifically state this is objective fact then I'm giving my opinion. Obviously. You're just too insecure to handle it and as such, have gone out of your way to try to advertise it as not being fact.

@the8thark
No worries. Can't remember if I was being patronizing lol Maybe? Though I detect a bit of snark in your comment that I "know everything," but hey, I'll take it haha
The Trials of Mana remake plays really great! It looks the way you'd image a remake of Trials of Mana. The remake desperately needs a 3 player co-op patch. The game would surely get a sales spike at the announcement alone
