Also why do the scores sometimes keep going up while you're skating but other times they go down?!

That's only in the training bit, as far as I can tell. It's been too long for me to remember anything like that properly though!

For those of you who like the soundtrack I highly recommend unticking "Bail Music Effect" and "Special Music Effect" in the sound options.

"Special Music Effect" makes the music quiet unless you get a Special and "Bail Music Effect" stops the music every time you fall.

Is this game something a casual/moderately skilled gamer can get into?

@rockodoodle I'd say yes. It's very easy to pick up and play, at least imo. If I was able to figure it out when I was 12 way back when, I'm certain a casual gamer can.

Yeah definitely. You're given a list of objectives at the start of each level and there's some casual stuff like collect the letters s-k-a-t-e or some harder stuff like get a certain amount of points by doing tricks/combos. You don't have to do everything, just enough to unlock the next level so can go at your own pace and play it your way.

Thx! Maybe I will get this after all!

The more I play this the more I feel like the graphical downgrade actually affects the gameplay. Some of the levels are so dark and muddy (even with display adjustments) and some collectible items hard to make out. I actually find it harder to see what's going on or what's ahead sometimes than on the Dreamcast version of THPS2.

@Clyde_Radcliffe I'll agree with you on some of the darker environments. I have a tough time myself on certain levels.

I'm having a bit more fun than I probably should just, turning on all the cheats and spamming buttons, lol. All the moves magically combo into each other for crazy high scores like I'm some incredible legend and I just find that really hilarious for some reason.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Yes yes yes! Such is the appeal of Tony Hawk. Anyone can get into it, and it’s fun to just do tricks and grind, even if you suck at it.

I’ve been playing this game exclusively on my Switch Lite. There’s something about this game that’s just perfect for handheld play. Plus, after the PSP and DS entries, this feels like having a PS4 in the palm of your hands. I’m so happy they brought this game over.
