Topic: The Sports Story Thread

I think it’s time to start a thread on Sports Story, one of my most anticipated games of this year. Because I loved Golf Story and the humor and the charm. But wait, you say. It’s not out yet, why do we need a thread on this? What are people going to talk about?

Because it should be here already! The game is listed as coming in mid-2020 on the big N’s website and in Q2 2020 on Sidebar games’ website. Q2! So I want to get a conversation started on the assumption that it could/maybe/ohplease show up as available now tomorrow.

Are you looking forward to this one? What sport are you excited to see the team’s take on? I’m excited to see the mash-ups and interested in how 2d baseball will look and feel.

@Chimera_Police It should be here but with the Pandemic going on it probably got delayed.

I still waiting for any developer to create proper cartoonish 3D Boxing games for consoles.
Boxing is really underdog sport on video games and needs more attention.

I'm really looking forward for this. Loved the Golf Story, it was a total surprise how fun it was after all. Nice story with a bit of comedy.

Is looking to be full wonder gaem, fill with the bellow noise and joyous eye leaks. Very much enjoy old gaem, waving stick and yelling strangers.

@Anti-Matter yes! I would love a new punch out. Even a fight night remaster would be cool.

@Tasuki Yeah, I know. But you’d hope they would at least make an announcement to say that and maybe reset expectations.

Not Punch Out i was talking about.
I want 3D Cartoonish boxing games like Kinect Sports / Deca Sports with Life Bar, Super Power, place variations and character customization.
Punch Out was stiff, only punch and dodge but not moving around the ring.

Man I've been enjoying this game, but I'm utterly stuck trying to find the third ruffian now... And there's no guids yet. Time to run around more I guess.

Am I the only one that if finding the controls on golf to be very awkward (and way worse than the previous game that it was perfect...). Not sure If putting points into control is going to help

@Balta666 Yeah the golf doesn't feel quite as good to play in this and the game's terrible performance and constant stutters makes it difficult to time shots properly.

@BenAV yeah the performance is kind of strange. I still manage to time my shots but it is annoying (and had a crash too). We definitely need a new system lol

@Balta666 It's happened to me right while trying to take my shot and my input didn't even register. I also had a weird softlock earlier where I fell in the water in a dungeon but instead of just placing me back where I fell, I respawned in some other room that isn't even part of the game and none of the exits worked so I had to restart the game and lost all my progress in the dungeon. The game could and should run perfectly fine on Switch but it's been horribly optimised for whatever reason and has a ton of random bugs on top of that.

Yea, same here. Feels a bit different for me too. I'm only about 45 min though. It's a little more slow going than the first game as well

I was just thinking to myself that the performance was strange compared to the original - maybe a little rushed/suboptimised which is strange considering the delays.

Minor spoiler for the Britannia mines section, but after you encounter the prisoner and bring him back to be locked up, you can head back to that area and the prisoner is still there for some reason which is quite a silly bug.

Still enjoying it overall though.

Anyone at the part where you clean up the gym?? I am stuck and unfortunately there aren't any walkthroughs yet.

@Raiko Even at launch, Golf Story's issues were nowhere near this bad. I don't know how they managed to go so wrong with Sports Story.

Kind of saddening to see that it's a buggy mess, since I just bought it fueled by the hype and the fact golf story was pretty enjoyable. You'd think with such a big buildup they'd make sure the game is at least ready to go.
