@nf_2 It'll pay off in 3-5 depending on your perspective. And it's only $20. By all means, don't buy it until summer — I'm not going to.

The video said nothing about costumes, that's all preconception. Furthermore, I'm certain there will be new items, weapons, music, areas, and enemies by the time it's all out, just like Skyrim.

At the end of the day it's not a lot of money relative to some of the other things you can get. The special edition version of the game was more than $30AU extra. Some of the new BotW edition Amiibo are fairly close to $30AU. DLC for Zelda? I assume I'll be able to get more out of it than I will from those things. Hell, they're selling games like 1-2 Switch and Bomerman on the Switch for launch at more than double the price of this DLC. I'm fairly sure the DLC will be better value than those.

As it is? I'll play though the main game and wait. I have a feeling that the main game will last me a while on its own. When I'm at the point where I want more Zelda? I'll look at reviews and see whether the DLC is worth it. By then there might be some discounts via My Nintendo or otherwise. Who knows.

@Tsurii Look, okay, that's just that one thing. And in a game with RPG-style equipment, costumes tend to have stat values and factor into the gameplay.

But on that Switch shirt, the switch symbol is just kind of a noncommittal rectangle Yin Yang, so it wouldn't have to stick out like a sore thumb. As long as they don't write, in real world language, 'Nintendo Switch,' they could just have the logo embossed into a weathered maroon shirt and it'd be cool, not an ad that cheapens the experience.

Come to think of it, I don't think English or other languages appear anywhere in the game world. Item descriptions, dialogue boxes, and voice acting, sure, but everything you see within the game in physical form is in Sheikah and so on. I dig that kind of world building.

Okay, so continuing in the vein of cool ish you will presumably be able to do in Breath of the Wild;

You're riding through an open field on horseback, the rain begins to 'tink' off of your metal armor. Lightning lights the clouds as a storm brews, your heavy plate weighing you down into the horse.

Only two legs walk away from that equation.

@Tsurii AoE damage, haha! That reminds me: did we ever get concrete proof as to whether Breath of the Wild does the minecraft thing of dropping cooked versions of an animal's meat when Link kills it with a flaming weapon or fire arrow?

They are obligated to do whatever keeps their consumers spending money. That's more direct accountability than almost anything else you find in society.
The fact that there are an unhealthy amount of idiots out there who do things like preorder No Man's Sky, does not change the nature of the control you have over a private company. It just means that people aren't making the most out of it.

Hahaha!! The link you posted is actually broken, but clicking on it brings up a funny message! (if you click it, you will see what I mean!)

-Please don't fix it though, as I'm sure Zelda fans will appreciate it.

But please post the proper link in a separate post so that we can all access the page you were referring to. (and still have access to the funny version from your original post)

Thanks.

That link was just copy and pasted from the official Nintendo site.

@Frosty_09 I really love the piano in the first one, and the second one seems to be the first clean version of the E3 trailer song. Are they each like $3?

@Frosty_09: Finally, a 3DS custom theme with ambient music, and it's BotW themed! I'll be right back... It's gonna feel like I'm playing the game early!

EDIT: Oh, looks like I gotta wait for NoA.

It's kinda weird timing, though. Like, maybe I would have bought that a year ago, but as it happens I'm getting a new portable system in a couple of weeks...

@Haru17 I know you said it's boring, and it is, but I got a great big smile out of it

@jump, @Octane, Yeah, whales are definitely not boring.

I got to say, if link can functionally make use of what's in the picture, that would actually be pretty interesting. It would massively increase Link's maximum inventory if he has one. I think it would be cool if they were only available for rent, and you could rent them for dungeons that you plan on hualing a lot of stuff from. Good for one trip from the merchant's place to wherever, and back to the merchant where he takes the mule, but you can sell your stuff right there. I'm just struggling to think of a way to keep the player from just running off with it.

I hope it's a cow then, and you can milk it for some Lon Lon Milk with some HD rumble action, or by gently stroking the Wii U GamePad.

@Octane It's honestly nothing that interesting. I'm not saying you have to look of you're on media blackout, but just don't think 'Island Turtle,' but rather something in the range of 'normal turtle,' haha.
