@Haru17 Don't worry, I know that wasn't your point, at least the second sentence wasn't.
I am excited because it is Zelda, but if this game wasn't made by Nintendo (replace the characters and the Nintendo logo at the end), then I would probably pick Horizon as my most anticipated game of this year.
That's really not my point. I'm saying that Breath is most likely going to play better because it Zelda — a notoriously complex and seamless series – when compared to Horizon – an as of yet unproven new IP from FPS developers, a notoriously mechanically poor genre. That's not to say I'm down on Horizon, it's probably one of my most anticipated games this year and it's doing a really positive thing by having a female protagonist which Breath of the Wild has seemingly taken every opportunity to deny fans of even the option of. It's just launching against Zelda, which imposes a really clear choice upon me.
Apart from caring about the gender of imaginary people, that's exactly what I'd say too!
I don't want to be a downer, but I'll say it anyway: Don't get your nickers in a twist when this game doesn't get 10's all around. Sure this site will give a 10, no doubt. And to us it may become the best thing. But many sites will compare it to other open-world games, and then it may fall flat. They will also moan that the graphics aren't sharp enough (of course better graphics can be achieved on ps4/xboxone, since they are stronger devices). Keep in mind that this is Nintendo's first open-world though. And personally I have never played such a thing before so its new to me, though I must admit I am a bit jaded (I played so many games).
Personally I think the game will get a couple of 10's, a few 9's and lots of 8's. Keep also in mind that Nintendo games do very bad on Metacritic at the moment.
@Henmii: If this game gets 5's and 6's when Skyward Sword got 9's and 10's all around, I'll personally give a well-prepared hearty guffaw and upload it onto Youtube for all to hear.

Nintendo sometimes does but Zelda is a critic's darling, A Link Between Worlds and Skyward Sword was winning major GOTY awards so it will take a lot of intentional effort in making the game bad for it to be not getting 10/9 & GOTY, see Triforce Heroes.
If Nintendo games have been doing bad on meta critic it's because those games were underwhelming compared to Nintendos actual top notch efforts.
For Mario Tennis and Amiibo Festival 100%, but Splatoon was taking a few unfair knocks in the reviews and Star Fox had the "I'm not gonna even review it" review.
I'd argue that those are completely fair, the scores. Star fox had divisive controls which for some got in the way of actually trying to complete the game and splatoon, I still maintain launched with too little content. Same complaint I have for overwatch, for full price.
Not sure what review you're referring to for star fox though
I can't care less about metacritic and this (to me) stupid kind of things. I enjoyed REALLY A LOT Star Fox Zero: bought the limited, 100% it and i completed even Star Fox Guard! I like REALLY A LOT Splatoon, infact is hands down the most played Wii U game for me (and i will surely get Splatoon 2 D1), and i will not care about 8s, 9s or even 2s if we'll see them. I don't judge a game for what other people say, i judge a game for what it transmits to me and for the global experience i'll get from it.
Why i say so? Because i read some Star Fox Zero reviews when it came out: people that do this JOB (because to them it's a damn JOB, so they HAVE to put time into it) played it for like 3 hours, didn't manage to get into the controls and dropped it with a damn score of 4. I'm not saying players, i'm saying PROFESSIONAL REVIEWERS! That's unbelievable to me.

Almost none of the mainline Zelda games have got less than 90 on metacritic since Link To the Past.
I think Spirit Tracks might've been the only one.
I imagine this will keep up that tradition. I'm guessing 93.
@jump I love it too, but to me Zero is the main one, and a great game for sure
Returning to Zelda i'm seeing a lot of marketing push via social media and things like that. Finally i'm seeing a lot of spots on YT even in my country (Italy) that generally doesn't consider too much, not only Zelda, but also Nintendo. That's a nice things to notice
@Henmii Doesn't matter if this is Nintendo's first open world or not, nobody's going to score it higher because this is their first attempt. It's not too difficult to make an open world though; Just fill it with content, meaningful content in particular. A lot of open world games fail on that aspect. I don't care for the the size of the world, size doesn't always matter, the contents matter. I hope they nail this aspect.
...can't even recall regular rumble in Zelda games.
How could you forget the Stone of Agony? And I remember rumble when suffering from big hits in games like TP and WW HD.
At any rate, the supposed feeling of bubbles rolling up the fingers when dying in the swamp that the Youtuber allegedly felt would have been cool. Maybe a sharp ping from death by arrow, or a burst in the general direction of an explosion from death by bomb.
Not a deal breaker, but it still would have been cool.

Exactly. The only sites that will give Zelda below a, say, 9.3 are maybe Game Informer if they're feeling exceptionally mean or Polygon if they feel like they have to prove something again like Phil "Last of Us? 7.5
¯\__(ツ)__/¯" Koller.
Yeah, I'm not too worried either. I would just find it laughable if a game like Breath of the Wild, whose sole purpose is to answer the prayers of many Zelda fans, one that directly addresses all of the problems people had with Skyward Sword, would get a lower score than some of the most controversial Zelda games in the franchise, simply because of poor timing. Simply because people have decided to become more critical of Nintendo's home console presence post-Wii U. Simply because it was too unpopular to hate on Zelda before, but now it can be.
But you're right. People will love it because it's Zelda.
