Oh, another thing is some of the levels have bad camera angles that really screw you over and some 2D sections have a bit of 3D movement which can really screw you over and make it easy to miss certain objects. Prime example is Green Star 2 in Rammerhead Reef, you have to be lined up juuuust right on the Z axis to be able to get it, if you're too close or too far from the camera it can easily pass right by you and you have no way of knowing where you are on the Z axis because of the camera angle. I also died a few too many times on Bowser's Bob-omb Brigade because the isometric camera angle made it very difficulty to tell I fell of the left side of the bridge, especially if I was behind some other platforms.
Has anybody played Mario 3D World in Local Wireless multiplayer mode? If so, is each player free to roam or are you still tethered to the same screen with others getting pulled forward or back in bubbles like in local co-op?
@Dezzy Yeah, this go around, I'm just doing a few levels every day, but am doing them with every character. It feels less like having to run through the same game four times that way.
Although obviously I'll need to do a separate playthrough with Rosalina regardless.
It really does seem like a brutal requirement for 100%. In terms of the 3D games, 64 and Odyssey are the best about not requiring obnoxious repetition to see and do everything. I guess Sunshine doesn't either, but collecting all of the blue coins is its own special form of torture.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Dezzy I mean, it takes a long time, but the content is pretty much all unique. You don't have to replay the same content over and over as different characters, and the game doesn't go out of its way to be obnoxious with its collectibles.
Although I didn't return to complete the Balloon World stuff, so I can't speak to that.
Also, it doesn't require you to 100% it to access its final endgame level, which is a plus.
I put in odyssey after bowsers fury and that game feels so long and drawn out with far too many moons per level in comparison to the pace of bowsers fury. Plus I’d rather the traditional power ups over cappy any day.
I dunno about all unique. There are a hell of a lot of moons that are just randomly hidden in levels and you just need to ground-pound when it vibrates.
@Dezzy Still unique content. The actual quality of all the content is up for debate, but it's not like the game tells you, "OK, go collect all those moons again as Luigi before we give you access to the Darker Side of the Moon."
And, at absolute worst, some of the moons are just kinda there, but you still know basically where you need to be to track them down. Imagine if Odyssey treated moons like Sunshine treats blue coins.
I'm now at World 4 and I'm already getting tired of this game. The levels are well-designed, but you always do the same: Get to the end of the level. The collectibles are mostly in plain sight and the (almost) static camera makes me regularly miss jumps, which gets really annoying after some time.
I guess, I'm more of a sandbox Mario type of guy. I absolutely loved Mario Odyssey. Not sure, if I would buy another course clear Mario after this. I'm curious how Bowser's fury will turn out for me.
@Ralizah Though, to actually get to 999 moons (and thus unlock the full completion reward) you'll almost certainly need to grind for coins to buy them all once you're out of moons from every other source.
There's a certain sub-area in Bowser Kingdom that nets you a good amount of coins per run, but even still, you'll be doing that for a good amount of time to get enough coins for all those moons.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
This game has one of the worst move sets of any 3D Marios, maybe the worst. I can’t express in words how awkward it feels to have a run button in a game with full analog support.
