Ok so how the hell do you change which powerup is selected? I swear I've tried every button.

@Slowdive

Yeah I figured that out. I meant how do you switch between the different kinds. Mine is currently stuck on mushroom. How do I move it to cat bell or boomerang?

Left or right on the d-pad?

Definitely not.

Ok so you tap 'up' to open the menu that allows you to select the powers. Then hold 'up' to use it.

That took me a worrying length of time to figure out. But in my defense, it doesn't tell you that anywhere as far as I could tell!

Playing the main game right now. When I first saw the intro I already noticed right away the game runs at native 1080p. And at the first level... wow.. it look so much better than the Wii U version. The colors look so vibrant! 😍
What already throws me off is the increased movement speed. I died so many times from running too fast and panicking jumping down of the edges. I played the Wii U version A LOT.. My muscle memories don't work anymore. I have to get used to it again. What I didn't really expect.

Paying 3D World for the fist time and it's actually exceeded my expectations (and I was super hyped as I loved 3D Land!) Even the title screen is a delight.

How do you all choose which character to play as for each stage? Random, stick to one or take it in turns for each character?

I also thought about starting to play a basic straight through run with Mario each stage, then going back with the most suitable character to find the stars!/stamp! I think that might be fun.

I definitely like to get all three stars and the stamp before progressing to each stage, although that might change as the levels get harder (I'm just on World 1)

I think Peach is my favourite so far, but I do like the novelty of playing as the fast blue Toad!

Played an hour of bowsers fury. Have 16 shines and taking my time. The game looks brilliant. Only thing I hate about it is that you need to press a button to sprint just like 3d world/64DS and no triple jump. Plushie is fantastic to control and is free to go up the land

Does it have 8 way movement like 3D World too? (I'm probably not playing it until I've completed 3D World)

@Clyde_Radcliffe no not like 3d world. It’s like SMO. Controls great once you get use to the sprinting. Looks absolutely beautiful too. The world is bigger that I first thought and it’s all connected so no loading for maps.
You can also still carry on with some shines while bowser interrupts so long you don’t get the giga bell.
Really enjoying it so far

@1UP_MARIO
So that mean i have to hold B button to make Mario running ?

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

1UP_MARIO

@Anti-Matter yes you have to press Y but you’ll get use to it in minutes. It still plays and looks fantastic.

It's wild to think that probably 85% of the Switch's total playerbase never owned a Wii U. This is going to be a massive release for those people.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

Sheesh. What a waste of an NSO trial. Online is D-E-A-D. No-one joining OR hosting rooms.

I'm not even paying for it and I feel ripped off.

@Clyde_Radcliffe : You can collect most of the stars/stamps with a single character. Instances of character specific buttons (and jumps) are very rare. If I ever need to complete a level a second time, I always play with a different character as your stats will indicate which characters you have completed each level as once you complete the main game (and this can save you a wee bit of time if you're a completionist).

@Budda : The characters move a little too fast at times, especially Toad. I don't know why they bothered.

I'm in love with this new speed. Absolutely amazing. I've already played the original and it was a bit slow.

I'm a good ways into Bowser's Fury as well. And I've been having a blast.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Just finished Bowser's Fury. Only needed 50 Cat Shines to do so.

Pretty good game for what it is, looking forward to playing 3D World now - never played it before!

@Silly_G Whilst this is a great multiplayer game for me it's very much a couch/party multiplayer, the funs comes from messy around with the other players you know rather than strangers.

I would have used the free online trial for something more competitive like Smash, Arms, Splatoon 2 etc or co-op like Animal Crossing, Borderlands, Over Cooked etc.

Wow, that was fast.
Was it take around 3 hours to finish the Bowser's Fury ?

Not quite, reckon it took me between 4 to 6 hours - essentially two sittings with 28 Cat Shines last night and 22 today - but then again I tend to explore a bit more than most in 3D platformers. So in that respect it's probably taken me longer than it should.

I'd be able to tell you exactly how long if the Switch's time clock wasn't so bad.

I wish the game was longer. Odyssey left me wanting more open style 3D Mario. 😁
