Topic: Splatoon 3

To be fair, Clam Blitz wasn't in Splatoon 2 at launch. I kind of except Splatoon 3 to follow the same pattern and add a new ranked mode within the first year, though I obviously would've preferred one from the get-go.

I have so many thoughts regarding people saying Splatoon 3 is just Splatoon 2 again or that it should've been an update to 2 instead of its own standalone game but I'll save the wall of text for another day and just summarize everything in one word: No.

It might be too early to ask, but I'm kind of worried on one thing for this game. In Splatoon 2, I came across players in my team who had 0p at the end of certain matches (as in, not inking turf whatsoever), which can cause me to lose matches with no fault of my own. That really annoyed me in S2. Did they fix it for this game? When I was playing S3's Splatfest, I don't recall coming across anyone who had 0p when winning or losing matches, only if there's a draw when someone disconnects. They probably fixed it that way, but I want to make sure because that might be a deal breaker for me.

Been saying this everywhere, I did play the first game, it was alright and I liked the story mode. But was never a big fan of online multiplayer games, so I did lose interest in the game after a while. One online multiplayer mode type always interested me in games, though...and Splatoon did get it (co-op PvE games). But after hearing it was time limited and you couldn't play it whenever I never end up bothering with the sequel, aside from that mode everything else just looked the same. Now that the mode is open 24/7, I may end up looking into this game, the mode even has major bosses now. owo

Hopefully this mode ends up being in a similar situation as Garden-Ops from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare...because the other modes in that game were just "meh" to me, but Garden Ops was insanely addicting. Hopefully Salmon Run will be the same case.

@MarioLover92 0p = they disconnected. They could have laid down a bunch of ink, but if they disconnect before the end, they are given zero points. 99% fo the time, 0p= disconnected. It's extremely rare if anyone just stood there doing nothing. People can disconnect because they were called to dinner (very common around dinner time), or they may disconnect if they're getting crushed & feel overwhelmed. For me, it's been very rare someone gets disconnected because of a game crash or internet connection issue.

OH, I recall Octane saying, when there's a match, someone's console is the host of the match. If the host disconnects, then the whole team will be lost. I think that may be true. I think I saw that once during the Splatfest demo.

@MarioLover92 Seemingly yes! As @WoomyNNyes already stated, if they got 0p, it means they disconnected early on in a match. However, from my experience in the Splatfest demo, if more than one person disconnects in a match, it'll just pop up as a communication error and act like nothing happened. I remember the details vividly as it happened on my first ever 10x match in 3 (grumble grumble) so hopefully I'm right 😅

I hope they add more hair styles in the future. I’m a sucker for hair styles and would love a lot of variety.

There's Splatoon amiibo cards? SINCE WHEN?! I would've bit the bullet on them long ago if I'd known!

@Fizza They aren't official cards, but they look & feel like they could be. I've been quite impressed with the ones I got in 2019. I have no need to accumulate amiibo figures/clutter. And Splatoon 1 & 2 amiibo aren't really sold anymore, I think. Since Nintendo doesn't offer an alternative way to access the amiibo dlc, there are plenty of sellers on ebay & etsy who sell plastic card versions, and they work exactly like amiibo - they worked great for Splatoon 2, anyway. You can find them called "splatoon nfc cards" or "amiibo cards".

I initially had a link in this post pointing the the style of cards I got. If you check your email notifications, I think you can check ebay the link there. I got the whole set of 16 or 17 splatoon 1&2 amiibo cards for about $18.

@WoomyNNYes @Fizza All right thanks for the explanation, it does make sense that S2 would take away all their points if they disconnect in the middle of a round, though it still stings if I lose with my teammates disconnecting. Yeah seems like this game went ahead and addressed that concern of mine. Been getting more hyped for the game now, especially after playing the Splatfest!

@Dev9417 Just more customizable options in general in my opinion. Hair styles, it would be pretty sick if you have body paint, could change eye color when you wanted too. All that good stuff. Unless you can And I just never knew that.

...So, when it comes to Salmon Run, does that have any, erm, "sub-modes" or anything? I guess base this off of Splatoon 2 or if it was confirmed already or something. I haven't kept up with this game since I wasn't interested before. But yeah, longer runs/more than 3 waves(?), how weapons are handled (dunno how I like having my weapon randomized each wave...)...I'm just curious about that mode in general. xD

@Joeynator3000 When you choose Salmon Run in Splatoon 2, you and your team play through 3 waves. The tide height and boss events are determined randomly, though. I believe it's the same for Splatoon 3.

@WoomyNNYes I like random, it's kinda why I liked Garden Warfare, and Splatoon 3 seems to also be doing something similar by adding in random major bosses. Kinda wished we could have more waves, though, ah well. xp

Or maybe an endless mode where the enemies keep getting stronger the further you get. lol

@Joeynator3000 Regarding Salmon Run weapons in Splatoon 2, when you join a team, four weapons will be assigned to your team. Those weapons will be the only weapons your team gets for the three waves. Each wave those weapons rotate to a new player. So, you never have the same weapon twice. Success in Salmon Run depends on you knowing the roles of each weapon type, and being good with all weapon types. It takes a bit of learning to learn the different weapon types for prioritizing the salmonids, but once you start getting it, it's super fun.

I didn't get into Salmon Run until I got a little burned out on Turf War. And to my surprise, I ended up really liking Salmon Run, and put in about 100 hours into Salmon Run in Splatoon 2, I think. It was like playing a whole new game. It is it's own game.

I watched a few youtubes of Samlon Run tips & strategies, and it helped. I think I saw a reddit that had an outline for how to prioritize salmon run enemies/bosses. (disregard if you know a bunch of this already)

@Joeynator3000 What platform do you play Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare online?

@WoomyNNYes I don't anymore, but for the original I have it on PC via Origin (you know, EA's game managing thing, lol) and the sequel on PS4. I thought about playing the sequel again but, eh...even though the Ops are fun sometimes, it feels like some of the charm that I loved from the original was taken away. Like, Super Boss Waves felt way less epic there compared to the original, the music and vibes just feels...meh. Never bothered with the 3rd game, and heard that the Ops mode was "barely" there at that point.

I kinda wished there were PvE games that were similar to the original Garden Ops, who knows, maybe the new version of Salmon Run will do it for me, lol
