Topic: Splatoon 3

Clocking out of FrostyFest in Ruler once again (BEEN KEEPING THIS STREAK SINCE THE TESTFIRE BABYYYYYYY), with about 110k+ Clout across both Open and Tricolour. Had a pretty good time overall I gotta say: I've very much fallen off of Splatoon for the past while (with both other games taking my attention away and a general lack of interest in it contributing towards that) but FrostyFest was a lot of fun for the most part. Crableg Tricolour was a bit middling (when I could even get a proper match in it that is grumble grumble) as it's pretty much the exact same layout as the regular stage but new spawns for the Defenders, but I managed to get a ton of wins for Team Family (even two 10x's at that!), thanks in large part to discovering the absolute menace that is Big Swig Express. Haven't got the highest hopes for the results as I have a sinking feeling that Family might get washed away but eh: I had a good time nonetheless

also is it just me or did 90% of Splatfest matches have at least one person using Splat/Enperry Dualies

I got about 4-5 10x battles. And I think I lost them all! XD I'll blame whoever posts next. I hate them now, whoever they are.😠 (jk<😁)

Not surprised at the battle results as it did feel like we had the stronger players but the votes are interesting. Been doing well at picking the right teams lately as that's my fifth Splatfest win in a row.

Damn: Team Solo really lived up to their name huh XD

Definitely wasn't expecting a Solo sweep whatsoever but eh, it's another win for Big Man so I can't complain too much honestly (pour one out for Frye though).

One thing I will say though is that I do not believe the Popularity vote for a second. No offense to anyone on Team Solo but I felt like almost anyone I interacted with online said they were going either Friends or Family with some exceptions, so to see Solo take FOURTY PERCENT of the votes feels insane to me XD

It would be very interesting to see the split per region, could be that Solo was massively popular in Japan for example.

I’d willing to bet a lot of money that Japan heavily skewed the results on account of having a superficially similar but in effect completely different question:

“[How you spend your] days off? Having fun with friends/relaxing with family/chilling out alone.”

The key point is that “休みの日” (yasumi no hi, literally ‘rest days’) refers to any day when one is not at work/school/etc. This includes weekends/public holidays/etc. It’s not tied to any specific festive period, unlike the Western question which most people would interpret as ‘the New Year’s/Christmas/etc. holiday period’.

Also worth taking into account is that fact many younger players will naturally be on team ‘family’ or ‘friends’ as they’re dependent on the former and in frequent contact with the latter through school, etc. In contrast, spending one’s days off alone necessitates a degree of independence that will naturally attract older (and more experienced) players. With that in mind, the results don’t seem too surprising at all!

I’ve been hearing talk about if a direct is going to be in February ( let’s be honest it probably will be) and I am 90% sure that it will have a side order trailer and release date

Also, if a February Direct happens, I doubt we'll get e new SO trailer, actually. Probably just a replay of one and a "Coming Fresh Season 2024" announcement.

@Maxz To add on to your thing about different teams attracting different ages, I also think that kids are more likely to only play a couple matches or not even pick a team. I feel like they'd easily be able to miss the splatfest, where as older, more "serious" players have it marked on every calendar they own and will play it to death (you don't understand. I NEED my 6 hours of frosty fest). Speaking super generally, obviously.

Maybe, just MAYBE, Side Order will get its own direct (this has been in development for 1 and a half years, it better be good) and have the reveal of new amiibo too. What, I think a fifteen minute direct would be awesome, in march, and it releases in April!

@_Lime Octo Expansion's setup was:

• Announcement in March 2018 Direct (Splatoon focused segment ended the Direct containing the new Splatoon 2 update, Octo Expansion reveal and Inklings in Smash)
• Very brief presence in E3 2018 Direct (a few seconds of gameplay)
• "Out tomorrow" announcement at the E3 2018 Splatoon 2 tournament

I do think if Side Order is present at all in the next Direct it'll be one of those big spotlights with around 5 minutes of gameplay. Though they may just follow the current pattern for Splatoon 3 presence in Directs and only announce February's Splatfest.

I need them... if it happens, likely we'd get Acht and Pearl Bot. Not sure about another set of Agent 8 amiibo, though... Perhaps Marina or another charater (TarTar?!?)

@CaleBoi25 it was leaked that two Splatoon amiibo were coming… I want pearl bot and acht but I think a male and female octoling is the most possible

I went with "Team Paper" in the September 2022 demo because I like to draw, and I used to enjoy the Paper Mario series (until it went down the toilet beginning with "Sticker Star").
