@Zyrac Yeah, good advice - I perhaps could have tried to grab the RM a bit more often to try to change my own luck I tend to try to be quite pro-active in my approach (taking out the opposition, forging paths forward etc) but, if it doesn't seem to be working for whatever reason, I should perhaps try to get in the thick of the action a bit more (grabbing the RM whenever I can etc) just to mix things up a bit!

I do think that a large part of it was bad luck with who I was paired with though (happens from time to time!) ..I often find that people are quite responsive to my 'shouts' - eg. if I shout 'This Way!' in Salmon Run, people seem to know that I'm alerting them to a Golden Egg opportunity in my direction...and if I say 'Ouch!', players generally seem to be quite reactive to the danger at hand ..I just felt that, in this session in particular, my efforts were kinda going to waste because my teammates just seemed to be ignoring me - no matter who I was paired with! 15-20 kills each time, lots of good forays forward (and sacrifice at times!) all for nothing...ah well! I still love ya Splatoon!

@Enoch72 Haha! Yeah! A good sniper is very handy to have on your team - but a bad sniper is next to useless! I was having a few good Turf Wars matches last night with a couple of amazing snipers - and it often seemed to put them on opposite sides too, which made for some really fun and intense action! ..but I've certainly seen my fair share of bad snipers as well!

I tend to use Turf Wars as a kind of pressure free practice zone for when I have a new weapon/outfit to try out - just to get my skills up to scratch before I make an assault on the Ranked modes...when I get around to buying a sniper rifle, I'll probably be one of those 'bad snipers' too! (..at least for the first few matches if my Dualies are anything to go by!)

Just had some funny coincidences in Salmon Run. I was playing a game where Wave 3 was a mothership and I had the Luna Blaster and Inkjet. We won that, and I went straight into the next game, where the first wave was... exactly the same thing (for me, at least). Then when we got to the third wave of that game... another mothership. I didn't even think you could get two in one game. I'm not complaining, because the mothership is one of the easier sources of eggs (especially if you pummel it with the Inkjet and Sting Ray). I was hoping I'd beat my record of 82, but not quite - we wound up with 80.

On that note, looks like @xPH03N1Xx86 has relegated me to second place here. Grr!

@Zyrac I took screenshots, I'll have to post them. Had a great team and got over 40 eggs in the final wave.Though I do wonder what the highest anyone has gotten ever in a Salmon Run?

@Dev Well, the canon for invisibility has always been that it only works if you're naked. Going all the way back to H.G. Wells.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

@shani It makes sense; don't do something to the point of burnout in expectation of better results. I suppose to paraphrase further, what neuroscience really tells us is to "stay fresh".

I was curious if swim speed up also makes you swim faster on ink rails.

I'll be sure to test that next time Moray Towers gets selected!

After a double-deranking/fall from grace in Tower Control, I finally got my mojo squid flows back on and and pushed back into S+. It was pretty embarrassing though. I'd just broken into S+1, and rather than take a break I thought I'd keep pushing, and proceeded to lose S+1, then S+0, then almost lost S rank.

I was either playing stupidly aggressive and immediately dying, or would switch to a super passive playstyle, which meant I died less, but rarely participated in any of the 'pushes' that are crucial for getting a lead in most Ranked modes. I think I've rediscovered the balance, as well as got a better feel for how to storm the enemy base as a team by attacking from different entrance points. I've also realised that a 'trade' (splat for splat) can be quite useful when you're on the offensive, as it keeps the pressure up, which is a pretty important part of barging into enemy territory (and might buy you a crucial few more seconds). It's less desirable when you're on the defensive though, I feel.

It probably also doesn't apply for Splat Zones, where you generally want to stay alive as much as possible if you're in possession to prevent the game from turning around in the enemy's favour. You get hit with a pretty hard penalty for losing the Splat Zone, whereas in the other two modes the opposing team still has to get the objective out of their base simply to break even.

I also changed my kit around to focus more on speed and ink resistance, which meant switching to a new hat (I was sick of being picked off after floundering in enemy ink). However, the hat looked stupid with all the available boy haircuts, so I switched my sex to suit my hat. Because fashion first.

Just found out you can change gender, skin and eye color. Man, they sure do know how to hide it. I mean, I would've never looked there. Why isn't it in the 'others' sub menu you get to by pressing + where you can change your hairstyle and legwear? Would've made way more sense to me to have all of the customization options in one place.

Not really. When you boot up the game for the very first time and have to set up gender, skin and eye color, the game tells you that you can change it any time.
It was the same with Splatoon 1.

I kinda want to live in a future where people actually do this.

Meanwhile in the present (or, well, recent past), I had a match where my team seemed to have some trouble against Inkjets, but it was okay because I was there to splat those fools out of the sky. With my Carbon Roller. That kinda seems like something I shouldn't be able to do, but I'm not complaining.

Those Inklings are so damn fluid; gender-fluid, species-fluid, able to seemingly turn into literal fluid to travel through their ink fluid. This is the future, baby.

A future where we live in a fashion-focused pop-punk metropolis populated by squid-kids with hair that looks like sausages.

Well done in splatting the sky vultures with your humble paint rod. I still have trouble with Ink Jets. I mainly try to stay safe and wait to splat them when they land.

@shani Well, I was so excited to play Spla2n that I didn't bother to read everything the game told me. So when there was only the option to change legwear and hair style, I thought your gender, skin and eye color were set in stone. I still wonder what's so noteworthy about swapping your gender that they wouldn't let you do this in the same menu you change your clothes and hair style. Ah, well, gonna stick with my girl. Seeing a male inkling in her clothes just feels weird.

When I see an inkling go airborn I try to maneuver towards them and eliminate them mid flight before they do harm to the battlefield. It works out, usually. Unless I use a short ranged weapon like the Sploosh-o-matic, or if there's no clear ink trial so you can't swim around their back. In my experience hiding isn't always the solution.

So I never used scoped chargers until now, because I didn't like the tunnel vision. But I've learned that the trick is to avoid holding a charge and just fire off full charges as quick as you can most of the time. And when you do it that way, the zooming really does help your aim. It still has its disadvantages compared to a standard charger, but I see now that people use these things for reasons beyond the little extra bit of range. And so my arsenal continues to grow. Man, I was so complacent when I played the first game...

My main has been Carbon Roller for the longest time, as I found it's my best weapon ever, but the Nozzlehose might be my 2nd at this moment. It's got such great range, decent fire rate for a burst weapon, and the Curling bomb and Baller are great.
On the other hand, I'm still trash at chargers. I want to be good with them, as I love the idea, but even with the Squiffer I'm not adequate.

I'm more of a close-quarters brawler so you'll find me more often with weapons built for that such as the Tri-Slosher, Octobrush or Splattershot. Never been that great at Chargers as I don't feel as useful in inking the turf and my aim is not always the best. Despite this, I have bought the most expensive charger yesterday and am willing to give it some shots today. And that after my Turf War stats after yesterday's bad inking day are already in the garbage. I also took a liking to the L-Nozzlenose's range. Now I only gotta learn to stay out of my close-quarter battles since that one is clearly not built for that.
