Sooooooooo, Ghirahim's second fight...was I missing something here with the first phase? I've tried everything and nothing was working except deflecting the daggers or whatever with my shield...took me like 10 minutes to finally move on to phase 2. lol

Same here. I just did it the other night. I couldn't do the strategy I did on the first fight with him. Took me a while but eventually I got it.
Just finished the game( never did on the Wii) and had a great time. Not really sure why I had bad memories of this game as it has a good story and great temples.
Rewatching my fight with him since I recorded it for my channel...and...yeah. I managed to hit him multiple times the first two tries, after that, no matter what I did, he kept grabbing my sword. Trying to figure out what I did and...yeah, can't figure it out...
Ugh, why did it have to be Ghirahim again anyways, why not a giant fire boss or something involving the upgraded mitts you get. lol
Like, a giant...mole...monster...or a boss version of those weird worm things you encounter in the dungeon. xD
EDIT: lol, I even took out the stupid harp during this fight. xD
Those trials were one of the biggest complaints people had about the original. They also hated the similar parts in twilight priness. They never bothered me.
Finished my 100% completion run tonight, the game is even more fun than I remember it being. I had it ranked at my 5th favourite Zelda game on the "Favorite Zelda Game" thread a while back, but I might bump it up a slot. The game has really solid dungeons, some of the best in the series imo, and has a fun story too. I think the thing the game has going against it most is the repetition (having to fight the same boss multiple times or return to the same places multiple times), but I don't mind it that much. I think if they really wanted to trim the fat they could gave gotten rid of the second trip to the first dungeon, the third Imprisoned fight, and the section where you have to carry the water basin up Eldin Volcano. But ultimately they didn't take that long and didn't ruin the experience.
15 hours in. Just lost my temper with the Earth Temple boss because of the Rube Goldberg clusterFK control scheme.😠😠😭 There's way too much pressure; run and throw bombs, run and thow bombs, run out of bombs, frantically run & try to pick up more bombs.
I'm still going to keep playing another day, after I've cooled down. They are cool dungeons. It would be cool if they rebuilt the game in botw engine. It'll never happen, but it would be cool. But I guess that still won't solve the directional sword swipe control scheme.
@WoomyNNYes
For whatever reason I've gotten used to the controls, but I do agree BotW scheme would be most comfortable for most people. The thing I had the hardest time adjusting to was the picking up and throwing/rolling of objects like bombs. It took me quite some time to get into that control flow, for sure.
Only issue I'm having with controls is the stupid L button (well, and trying to do those spin attacks/finishing blows), no idea if it's the game or the controller. But sometimes the L button won't work for a second and I keep drawing my sword whenever I'm looking around. >.<

Ok, so like 30 hours in... the repetition is starting to get ridiculous. One word: tadtones.
Ugh.
I don't know. Some of these repetitive parts are starting to feel like the devs were told to pad more time into the game.
Why only the three areas on the surface? It's not like earlier 3D Zeldas didn't have equally large (or even larger) worlds and more varied biomes. Ocarina had a connected feel and was full of fairly large and detailed places, and that was on cartridge storage for crying out loud.
I think I'm close to the end, so I'll have my final thoughts I'm sure, but as of this moment, Skyward Sword is FANTASTIC with its dungeons and motion-based platforming and puzzles, but the surface areas and the tasks are some of the weakest I've experienced in a Zelda game.
The sky and Skyloft are fine. They're pretty awesome. lol
@Eel
Probably my least favorite part so far. Felt like filler to me.
I enjoyed the initial explorations of each area. I enjoyed the trials. I enjoyed finding the new areas after unlocking the trial powers. But now this third (or even 4th, kind of) time around each area is really starting to annoy me.
