Does anyone have a Samsung TV with a Game Bar that can tell me if it displays the correct FPS when playing a Switch game? I have a S95B, and it always says the Switch is running 60FPS which I know is incorrect, while with a PC connected, it does display the correct FPS. Wondering if this is a Samsung thing or if even LG's Game Genre can show the correct FPS with a Switch?
Switch to PC doesn't compare as they have different GPU that will show different FPS so not sure how you can equate what Switch FPS to PC FPS are the same here? Maybe also check with Samsung support since that would be something on there side as the GPU aren't the same for both systems.
This is a complete guess, but could it be that the Switch is always outputting a 60fps signal even when the game isn't running at 60fps? Like if a game runs at 30fps the Switch still outputs 60 frames, but each of them is displayed twice? If that's the case, then the TV wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
@SwitchForce Doesn't matter if the GPUs are different. The TV's OS would calculate FPS. Testing with a PC proves the Game Bar/TVoS does detect FPS. I know at least that LG's Game Genre works with Nvidia and AMD. Samsung Support couldn't give me an answer.
@CinnamonRobin That's what I thought at first but I have my PC set to 120Hz (for Windows desktop) when connected to the TV and it does refect games FPS above and below 120fps. I would love an LG Game Genre owner to confirm if they have the same issue.
@Judgedean
Possibly it's using VRR and is showing you the display's refresh rate? The Switch obviously doesn't support VRR so it's going to be 60Hz all the time
