Topic: Pokémon Unite

I just found out about a new game called Pokemon Unite for both Switch and mobile. I think the cross-play concept is interesting and the gameplay looks fun, but what do you think? You can talk about it below.

@AwesomEli Not to sound rude but we have all known about this game for months nintendo is just taking there sweet time overpaying use for micro-transactions.

@Snatcher Well, yes, that´s true. What do you think about crossplay between Switch and mobile though?

@AwesomEli I really wish it hadn't be there, Crossplay is cool and all but with a game like pokemon unite (which I'm gussing is just a mobile game port over to switch) It seems like its just a mobile port to switch so there going to dumb down the graphics and the quality so it came keep up with phones, I wish they were all two sepret game kinda like scribblenuats on the phone and wii u/switch.

Does anybody know a timeline when is this coming out like this year or next

I hope its a nintendo online exclusive so it's another reason to get a account. I hope nintendo goes away from SNES and NES games and does other things like gamecube , wii and Ds games and that stuff

Honestly, if Pokemon Unite was a game only on the Switch, they would probably make it so much better. But since it´s on mobile too, it´s not going to be as good as it could be. And @EngineerMario, that would be a good use of Switch Online, perhaps the Switch version would have more stuff than the mobile version? That would be a nice compromise.

@EngineerMario Yeah, like that. Maybe Switch users could transfer Pokemon from Pokemon HOME onto Unite, or Switch users could have multiplayer or other perks like that? Who knows? Also, what do you think of crossplay between Switch and mobile?

I'm not a massive fan of Moba's but this could be fun - im just worried that its going to end up being pay to win like other F2P Mobas like Smite.
Hopefully the microtransactions are just for cosmetic items but im expecting to see fan favourite characters stuck behind a pay wall and OP vs the free options.

I hope micro-transactions are for cosmetics only, although I doubt it will be. However, I don't mind people being able to purchase Pokémon and not grind to unlock as long as the game is well balanced and it doesn't turn out to be pay-to-win.

@ChaosBadger777 and @theWildLink, yeah, I hate it when you have to pay money to get OP characters, so you can actually win battles. When I get a game like that, I just play the tutorial but when you´re on your own, you basically just try to win without having to pay. Something else I hope they don´t have in Unite is energy. You know how in some mobile games (not some, most) you have energy, often shaped like lightning bolts? You can only play stuff when your energy is full, and then you have to pay for more energy or wait until the next day. I hate those! If they put that in Unite it would be the worst!

I have to agree it does actually look like a fun time, Look, I'm a big moba fan, but I don't play lots of them, the one moba I really feel in love with died off, and It just hasn't been the same, Still, I hope the playerbase actually knows how to play the game, Oh and I'm maining Gengar.

@Snatcher Sounds like you either played Smite or League, while league gaining some popularity because of it's e-Sports scene, the casual side of the game has died out long ago.
But I have to agree that it looks like a fun time for some time. I don't see it really making it a big splash with many updates/balance changes or gamemodes. Mostly skins which is a shame.

@Nephestinus Wile I didn't quite smite but it was taking up lots of space on my switch, and till I get finish one of these games I can make room for smite. ok don't kill me but the one reason I don't like league of legends, is bc of the pc control's, Thats it, Maybe I can change them but for know i'm going to wait for the console version, so I guess you can Say I don't hate the game, I hate its main control setup.

but the game I'm talking about is paragon, It was kinda like what smite was doing, but only waaaay better, But paragon died bc fortnite was coming around, and epic just killed it off so, whatever.

Warning: Physical and Special attacks split mostly makes no sense even compared to other MOBAs. Literally from evolutions for Charizard attacks I thought you have one Special and one Physical for both moves paths, but for some reason Flamethrower and Fire Spin is considered Physical. So whole Charizard attacks are Physical, so now my 3 days of practice and upgrades are wasted. So be aware of this missleading mechanic when checking for builds too, because a lot of builds are still unaware of this.

Guys I am absolutely loving this game, never played a MOBA game before or looked into this. A couple of questions any tips on how to win in ranked matches? Also do we have to set up voice chat before every fight? Its annoying.

Not much experience with MOBA's. I played Leage of Legends for a couple of months with fanatic players, but that was years ago. What I like about Pokmon Unite is that it is a grand solution for gamers like me who simply don't have long timeslots available for gaming. With this game, I can squeeze in at least 2 good battles if I have 30 minutes to sparee, which is great.

Just reached trainer level 12 after ~10h playtime (guess?). Haven't paid for anything yet and only going in Solo. Still manage to keep a 58% winrate on my Slowbro. Rank mid-"Great Class 2" now.

It's good fun for a free2play game and a great recommendation for those who are not familiar with MOBA's. The fact that everyone plays on a Switch means that we are all experiencing the same framerate. Speaking of, I am pleasantly surprised with the stability during matches! Something other games may still learn from (Smash Bros for example).

Would love to see this game receiving some more love on this forum. Hard to believe I'm the only one here enjoying this!
