@Draxa : That's absolutely bizarre that you hadn't noticed them. I periodically check my records just in case, but it's still at only one (which was a shiny Magikarp that I had successfully caught). It's been reported that "Let's Go" mode will prevent the active Pokémon from attacking any shinies (and this may be a handy way to narrow down what wild Pokémon are or aren't shiny, as quite a few are so subtle to the point of being virtually indistinguishable), so, I imagine that you may have unintentionally initiated five (!!!) battles with shinies without noticing their shininess somehow!
Porygon did nothing wrong.
Pokémon Sleep Friend Code: 1158-2327-1187
I've encountered 3 shinies in the 20 or so hours I've played...which is about as many (full odds) shinies as I've found in all other games combined. And I've been playing the series for over 20 years...
@Sisilly_G that’s what I’m saying my friend 😂 I’m not a shiny hunting noob either, it’s been my entire endgame grind since gen 6. I’ve got about six full boxes of shinies in Pokémon home and I literally have no idea how I’ve missed five shiny encounters 🤦♂️ embarrassing to be quite honest 🤣 I’ve read that you can’t knock them out in let’s go as well but honestly that’s the only thing I can think of that happened unless there’s a wild encounter glitch where they don’t sparkle during the battle entrance and I just missed them. Either way, no idea but my old ass is missing em and I am annoyed 😑 🤷♂️
I'm sitting at five right now. No shiny charm either yet, slooowly creeping towards the full dex tho, I think I have a dozen left to get.
Rn they are Mareep, Voltorb, Toedscool, Litleo and Magikarp. A tiny bit "disappointed" that the Litleo is female because I prefer the big mane but I'm not going to complain about a full odds shiny either way.
Also double checked if I might've missed one half a dozen times by this point and so far I'm good 😅
Altho I do believe you wouldn't get the entry by just walking past a spawned one anyway.
@MajinSoul thanks for the response! I really have no idea how I’m obviously wrecking these things and not realizing they’re shiny. The frustration is real 😂 🤦♂️
@Dom_31 maybe my friend 😂 it’s all good though. The funny thing is I haven’t actually even started my shiny hunting efforts. I’m just working on filling up my dex to get the shiny charm. But I’ll just make sure to keep a more watchful eye out and see what happens. Still hoping they patch in an over-world cue eventually for them, it would apparently help me out a lot 😂 🤷♂️
@Draxa : I'll be optimistic and just assume that it was a bug. I've encountered a few oddities here and there. Nothing game-breaking, mind, but it speaks to how the game was rushed to meet the lucrative holiday deadline.
Having to constantly circle the camera to make sure that I don't miss any shinies (and I very likely have) is ruining my enjoyment of the game, so, I have slowed down a lot after the first week.
So is it just my game… or is anyone else finding random pokeballs stuck in the ground in the middle of rooms? I see them during cutscenes most of the time, and I’ve seen normal pokeballs, premier balls, and ultra balls so far.
Edit: found another one and did some testing… and omg the pokeball changes to match the one of my main Pokémon. So that’s what it is… I assume it’s somehow my characters’ pokeball, the one he throws when I call my Pokémon out… But why is it in the floor in random places… that’s so weird.
@Eel I'm not sure if it has happened before but I definitely had a super ball stuck in the air when I was doing the Dragon Titan a few minutes ago. It was driving me crazy and I started to think that you can actually explore the caves with the herb and that I might have missed items from the previous Titans but I guess it's just a visual bug
@Eel It's either a debugging block, or a load bearing item that keeps the game from crashing. Most games have an item out of bounds that is constantly loaded in for the entirety of the game, as it would break the game otherwise. Usually, these items are hidden under the map though.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
That seems to be it. Some people apparently got what's inside the pokeball instead of that during cutscenes, often kind of ruining them thematically. It's hilarious to behold tho. I can't find it rn but one example had a Bellibolt stare blankly into the camera in the last shot of an otherwise heartfelt Arven moment.
Also, unrelated. Y'all need to seriously wait until you get the shiny charm before you start the sandwich stuff with the herbs. I tried it twice before I was done and got zilch out of both times (and I tried to reload my save twice for one of the attempts) but now that I have the thing and tried again I'm at 7 new shinies within an hour/"two sandwiches"
It's probably the most fun and most rewarding shiny method so far, imo. You'll still need to put in the effort to get the ingredients/herbs but I really enjoy this endgame cycle of doing raids for herbs, shiny hunting and doing more raids for more herbs and items to build your shinies.
Also got myself a Slither Wing in a....uhm, the apricorn ball that suits its shiny design and am over the moon lol
(thinking about it but being too stubborn to look it up I think it might be the Level Ball)
Yeah. Dunno how you can press igglybuff hair and sunkern leaves into making a CD. But technology is that incredible.
There’s so many TMs just laying around though, I haven’t really had the need to make TMs myself.
By the way, in case anyone needed an extra dose of shiny-related anxiety while playing the games:
Pokémon can, and will, spawn inside scenery and outside of the world’s geometry, and it’s entirely possible for those Pokémon to be shiny.
This is specially prevalent in caves with boulders and tunnels. You can glitch the camera inside the geometry with ZL to get a glimpse of the Pokémon living behind the walls.
