@rallydefault @UpsideDownRowlet no, that cutscene literally says who Urbain/Taunie was looking for. The whole shebang gets resolved in that scene.

They just didn't know who exactly it was they're searching.

@KaiserGX The part with Hoopa. You can see that when you are in the other dimension, there's calorie count that keep going down with every second that passes

And then you are also shown making the donut that will have various stats such as calories, and I think pokemon species? But it's really just understanding from what got shown, they didn't say it straight on

@rallydefault Urbain/Taunie is looking for the person who gifted their mother the jacket they're wearing. At the same time Jett asked Emma to research who gifted Urbain/Taunie said jacket, tipping her off that the two are looking for each other. Jett is the rival's grandmother

Roughly three weeks from release (and with more info coming tomorrow), I'm in a bit of a bind regarding the new mega evolutions. Specifically, I'm torn between my wish to remain as un-spoiled as possible, and my wish to know which pokémon - beyond those officially pre-revealed - will be getting new megas so I'll know which ones to focus on finding and training as soon as they're available.

Ideally, I would like to find some place listing them, but giving extra spoiler tags to those that can't be caught before they're revealed in-game or those that are revealed in particularly important story beats.

Zeraora is a mythical Pokémon that I needed, excellent.
But I'm still waiting for confirmation that Volcanion will be in the DLC.
12 years of waiting.

Version 2.0.0 and the Mega Dimension DLC are available right now!

Also an Alpha Charizard mystery gift, which expires on January 19, 2026.

Edit: also, if you play Legends Z-A between now and January 4th, 2026, you can get 100 Platinum Points and profile icons based off of the Mega Kalos starters that look pretty cool. Hopefully they bring them back when I play the game. Other Z-A profile icons incoming?

Must be region specific then. I am in Europe and I don't see any new mystery gift. I have fully updated to 2.0.0 and access to Mega Dimension DLC.

@Jeronan, my bad, I should've been more specific about it needing a code. Here is the code:

What do we think the possibility is of mega evolution returning in the Gen 10 titles (most likely only in the postgame)? I'm writing down some arguments for its inclusion or its exclusion.

"Mega Evolution will return" Arguments

-Mega Evolution was featured in the post game of (Ultra) Sun and Moon
-All new Pokemon forms and evolutions from Pokemon Legends: Arceus were useable in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
-Pokemon Champions prevents megas from screwing up the competitive scene.
-Lore-wise, mega evolution isn't region-locked.

"Mega Stones Are Not Permitted Through Airport Security" Arguments

-Mega evolution gets competitive representation in Z-A Battle Club and Pokemon Champions, and thus may not be necessary to include in Gen 10.
-Other gimmicks were restricted to their specific games.
-If they take away megas now, they can use it as a selling point later.

I'm curious to see what people think about this.

(Note: I don't like leaks, so if mega evolution in Gen 10 has leaked, please use the spoiler tag. Thank you.)

@UpsideDownRowlet I see zero reason why Mega Evolutions would be in gen 10. You could have asked the same question about gen 9 Terastalization. Repeating the same gimmicks over and over is just not how the series has ever worked. And It's not like Megas have been in every game since gen 6 when they appeared.

Personally I'm not a big fan of mega evolutions but regardless, I would be very surprised to see them again in gen X. I assume there will be some new gimmick.

@FishyS I think you're misunderstanding what I am suggesting. I am not saying mega evolution would be the main gimmick of Gen 10. I think there absolutely will be a brand new gimmick given the spotlight for the next games. In Pokemon Sun and Moon (and their respective Ultra versions), the player could meet Sina and Dexio after completing the main story, and they would give the player a mega keystone. From there, all the mega stones could be purchased from the Battle Tree. Of course, Sun and Moon introduced a new gimmick, Z-Moves, which was exclusive to Alola, but Mega Evolutions were still obtainable in the post-game as a sort of treat for players who continued their adventures after the credits rolled. I imagine there could (emphasis I do not nearly consider megas returning to be a surefire thing) be something similar to this in Gen 10, where mega evolution is accessible ONLY after completing the main story. I doubt we would see any new mega evolutions, but I think it's definitely possible that the gimmick returns in Gen 10's post-game or in DLC.

Just finished the "main story" of the DLC, and made a start on the DLC's "post-game" (feels weird to use these terms...but they feel appropriate).

The DLC isn't awful, but I will say it has soured me on the game overall / left me feeling a bit burned out.

Notably, the content is quite repetitive and seems to amplify a lot of the issues with the base game:
1. An abundance of uninteresting / seemingly pointless side quests. I should've got the message when one of them asked me to fork out $1,000,000 for a cup of coffee...
2. The unresponsiveness of the item menu and mega transformation in battles. For some reason this is much worse in the DLC, presumably because you have much more going on in battles (e.g. 2-vs-2 battle where all 3 other combatants are mega evolving) and I guess the game has a hidden "turn" counter which stops you from acting while certain actions are lined up. As much as I love the new battle system, this one aspect can really ruin the experience for me.
3. I still don't like the rogue mega fights. Like...I just don't get it? It essentially amounts to spamming the most powerful / super effective moves while awkwardly moving around the enemy's whims - and some of them have incredibly annoying movement/attack patterns. Throw in the aforementioned unresponsive controls and it just feels awful. Defo my least favourite part of the game as a whole.

All-in-all, I still love the base game and consider it the most fun I've had with Pokemon since it went 3D. I'm just a bit underwhelmed by the DLC.

Although 12 years of megas and Mega Raichu Y is probably my favourite of the bunch...

I feel like the DLC was solid, but it definitely isn't the best they've put out. It has issues with being more repetitive- and the story has nothing going on for the majority of it. I like the idea of the core struggle in the narrative- but it also felt like it was just sorta slapped onto the end of an already finished game and didn't really tie into the main narrative's story in any meaningful way. Darkrai just felt kind of there, and it felt odd that the dimension that Hoopa is connected to is actually just Darkrai's nightmare world. I don't really think they did a good job working Darkrai into Lumiose- or even actually expanding upon it's lore in any meaningful way. It was cool seeing New Moon Island rendered in full HD though. I also wish they had landed on the Dream aspect a bit harder with the side-quests in Hyperspace Lumiose, and that there were more weird moments like Mega Tatsugiri. It feels like the game is sort of lacking those moments- but I guess it's mainly due to the reduced budget that this DLC had compared to the others that came before it.

@VoidofLight Yeah, shoehorning Darkrai in seemed very strange to me, I would've assumed that the "final boss" would be the legendary that Ansha is looking for. I think Darkrai especially is strange considering it already had a role in Legends Arceus.

I've seen comments about the DLC feeling very tacked on to the end of the game as well, and I have to agree with those. This is partly why I don't agree with argument that it was content withheld from the main game to be sold separately. If anything, it feels the opposite - very clearly out of scope of the original game, and something created just to have some DLC to offer.

@Buizel Yeah, it's definitely not cut content. It was pretty much just created to fill what was originally meant to be a gap year given Z-A was initially planned to launch last year and the DLC this year so that they didn't have a gap between Z-A and Gen 10 of Pokemon. I do think the idea of Hyperspace being a dream world makes Darkrai fit, but at the same time it also feels like Darkrai really doesn't fit because of how they wrote everything. I feel like they should've gone deeper into the Dream World concept and brought in stuff from Gen 5 along with it.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

Buizel

@VoidofLight Yeah I do agree it makes sense thematically...just seems a bit random with how the rest of the story is set up.

I think a link to Gen 5 would've been nice...but tbh as the Pokemon lore expands and expands it's kinda a shame that regions are borrowing so much from each other...it kinda makes it difficult for a region to shape its own identity, y'know? I think Kalos already suffered from this more than any other region...what is its identity other than being overtly France-inspired and the whole Xerneas/Yveltal/Team Flare setup?
