I dunno, the quality of the wii u games we've been getting tells me their big guns are focused elsewhere. Amiibo Festival, Ultra Smash, this Paper Mario, don't really seem like the stuff that Nintendo is putting 100% into. I'm guessing all their big teams are looking forward. We shall see in the coming months
What's the issue with Paper Mario? We've only seen a minute of gameplay. Just because it's not want you want the game to be, doesn't mean it's rushed or not high in quality.
Looking back at that list, I'm not seeing high quality games flooding the 1st half of 2014 or 2015, either. You guys are so convinced that it's coming this year, and for all we know, maybe it is, but I'm seeing no proof, and you're not actually providing any real arguments for it.
The leaks you keep leaning on are weak. The gaming library doesn't support your point in the slightest, and you KNOW Nintendo will have more to announce at E3. How many games did we know were coming in the first half of 2016 back in August? Pokken Tournament, maybe? Us not knowing Nintendo's release schedule proves absolutely nothing.
Now listen closely, because this is the part I don't think you guys are getting. I wanted evidence the NX was coming out this year. I'm seeing next to none. All of the "evidence" I've seen has been speculation. That doesn't mean it's NOT coming out this year, but it certainly doesn't mean I'm the one being stubborn by pointing this out. From what I can tell, you are the ones not even entertaining the notion that JUST MAYBE, the NX /isn't/ coming out, this year. Hell, to that end, I've even given my thoughts on if Nintendo were to release a new home console this year. I think it would be a massive misstep. I think a lot of Wii U owners that expected at least five years out of their shiny new console will be disappointed they only got four. I think a lot of us may feel cheated that Nintendo acted like Zelda was Wii U only, if it winds up being a joint release. It's not me being in denial over some emotional attachment. This is me not wanting Nintendo to skewer themselves like SEGA did.
What's going to change, if Nintendo launches a new console this year? What will happen that will draw people to that system when they weren't drawn to this one? What possible reason could Nintendo have to release the system now when they risk burning U owners instead of later when they can potentially get most or all of that user base back? I just don't see the advantage in putting out a new system this year, nor do I see the advantage in putting out a system on such short notice: another major mistake SEGA made with the Saturn.
Nintendo NEEDS third parties to be ready at launch. They NEED first parties ready at launch. They need a library that'll actually bring in sales, and I'm sorry to say, I don't think a first-year joint Zelda is likely to do it alone, seeing as 12 million of their buyers already have a system they can play it on. I'm not saying a new console in November is impossible, I'm saying that from everything I know of gaming history, it would be a tragically bad move.

@UGXwolf: I don't know anyone who think that a console should last 5 year no one, if I was to ask my friends how long do they expect out of a console they'd probably say like 3 or 4 years tops. Back in August we knew Star Fox Zero was coming and the other game was tile Project Treasure and has been on the radar for ages. YES a new console will draw more open in, at this stage a lot and I mean of people still think that the Wii U is just a add on feature for the Wii. Nintendo has not had a strong selling Zelda title in 10 year and their not going to waste it on only the Wii U.

I know that a 2016 release would be a very bad move (SEGA did it in the late 90s and look what happened to them) and I really hope they don't but those SMD leaks are being constantly correct and as a result make it look very likely.
@UGXwolf: You don't see any "evidence" that the NX is coming out this year?
I mean... come on, man - really? If you're just going to paint everything as "speculation" at this point, why are you bothering with this little tirade of yours? You obviously won't be satisfied until Nintendo releases official information, so why don't you just move along?
This thread was started because of a rumor that a lot of people vehemently opposed. Called others "idiots" for believing it. Time went by, and more of the rumor came true.
If you're unwilling to give any credit to rumor, well... this discussion ain't for you, pal, because that's all that we've got at this point. You're just going to frustrate yourself and everyone else in this thread acting the way you are.
@haigh1011: Wow. Hold on a second, let me give you some more numbers:
Atari 2600: 1977-1982 (5 years)
Atrai 5200: 1982-1986 (4 years)
Famicom/NES: 1983-1990 (7 years)
SEGA Master System: 1985-1988 (3 years)
Super Famicom/SNES: 1990-1996 (6 years)
SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis: 1988-1994 (6 years)
Nintendo Gameboy: 1989-2001 (12 years)
SEGA Saturn: 1994-1998 (4 years)
Playstation: 1994-2000 (6 years)
Nintendo 64: 1996-2001 (5 years)
SEGA Dreamcast: 1998-2002 (4 years)
Playstation 2: 2000-2006 (6 years)
Gamecube: 2001-2006 (5 years)
Xbox: 2001-2005 (4 years)
Gameboy Advance: 2001-2004 (3 years)
Nintendo DS: 2004-2011 (7 years)
PSP: 2004-2011 (7 years)
Xbox 360: 2005-2013 (8 years)
PS3: 2006-2013 (7 years)
Wii: 2006-2012 (6 years)
Now yes, consoles and handhelds HAVE dipped under five years before, but notice that most of the time when they do that either it's the first system that company put out (SEGA Master System/Xbox) or the system is commonly viewed negatively and often brings consequences for later systems (SEGA Saturn/Atari 5200). The GBA is the exception to this, but even then, the DS wasn't introduced to REPLACE the GBA. It was introduced as a "third pillar." So yeah, I'd say A LOT of people expect five years out of their video game consoles.
@rallydefault@GrumbleVolcano I seem to recall a conversation either in this thread or the other one revolving around just how much of the leak has /really/ come true and that a lot of the evidence the leak has any merit is dubious at best. It was either Shaneoh or Skywake that pointed out most of the correct info was stuff we already knew about and a lot of things people are touting as correct were honestly a little vague. It reminds me a little too much of the Gematsu rumors/leaks. If I felt this rumor/leak held merit, I'd say as much, but I'm not seeing where the SMD leak has really been validated by anything that couldn't have easily been guessed.
@UGXwolf: It all look likes the console lasted ages when you put it like that, but how many version of each of those console where there? not 1 version like the Wii U. There are 3 types of PS3 and XBOX360's not to mention my parents payed $1000 for my PS3 when it came out so yeh i'd expect a few years with it, bunt only payed $400 for my Wii U so i don't expect that long
@UGXwolf: Not to mention that every console that last more than 5 year (beside the Gamecube and the Atari 5200) sold more the 30 million units. so the Wii U 12 million means that it doesn't deserve any longer
NX will come this year. Nintendo's 1st party efforts have been focused on NX for a while. If it's easy enough to port to, then 3rd party support won't be a problem.
Waiting until next year to launch any NX device would be a MASSIVE mistake. You can't do 18 month hype cycles in today's world. People don't have the attention span for that anymore. It needs to come out this year.
All of the reports are pointing towards a 2016 release. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
@IceClimbers: Arguably if the NX releases in late November 2016 then it would be a 21 month hype cycle which started in March 2015. Right from the announcement "codename NX", the rumours have propagated the NX discussion through a whole year.
