Honestly, I'm genuinely shocked people think that we're getting any more games this holiday season. It seems like most people here think they have more to announce. I'm sticking to my guns, no more first party directs until April. I do expect 1-2 shadow dropped trailers in that time, but not the sort of event everyone here seems to be expecting.

There will be at least 1 more big announcement, I guarantee it. Probably not a Direct. Just a random announcement of a game. They're not going to have no holiday release. It's just never happened.

If there was no Nov/Dec game I would have thought Nintendo would move either Mario Kart Home Camera and Pikmin 3 into that slot, not that I'm saying they are big holiday releases however. It doesn't make much sense to release two games the same month when there's a massive holiday shaped gap in the calendar so I expect a game to be released Nov/Dec even if it's not a big name game.

Maybe New Pokemon Snap in November & Bravely Default II or No More Heroes III in December?

Granted, I know we haven't gotten any info about NPS since it was announced (it doesn't even have a release window as far as I know), but maybe it's further along than we thought?

XC2 released in December, so it's not like a niche "core gamer" title like BDII or NMH3 would be unprecedented for that slot either.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@Dezzy They have the Mario Collection, Mario Kart, and Pokemon DLC. What makes you say they don't have a holiday title. They may not be brand new games, but 3 of it's top-selling IPs are represented this season. Given the pandemic? I think that's more than anyone would expect. I'd assume that Mario Collection (being on track to be the best selling game of the year based on pre-orders if the front page is to be believed) is what they consider the big one.

@link3710

I don't think any of those really count. All Stars is over 3 months before christmas, and is just old games ported. Mario Kart isn't even a regular game, so won't have the same appeal or audience. And Pokemon DLC isn't a retail release that might make people buy a console for the first time (the people who care about it will have already bought a Switch for the base game)

By a holiday game, I mean something completely new that's released with lets say 2 months of christmas, with quite wide appeal, that might make non-Switch owners say "Ok, it's time to buy a Switch".

What about Portmin 3 Deluxe?

I think they'll be another unannounced Nintendo game released before Christmas too. Otherwise it's basically Mario Collection (ports) > Pikmin 3 (port) > SM3DW (port) to cover the whole August to March period.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@damien33ad maybe a new Nintendogs for Switch or a 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history? remember everyone back in january that a new Paper Mario game would release on Switch, along side a 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history

@Octane Pikmin despite be a amazing franchise, don't sell well compared to others Nintendo franchises like Mario and Legend of Zelda, usually games of the Pikimin franchise sell around the same mark the Metroid franchise usually sell, so Pikimin 3 Deluxe can't be considered a Holiday title of Switch for this year, is better Nintendo bet in a franchise like Nintendogs that usually sell around the 7/10 milions units sold.

@Dezzy agreed. I see this being a pretty niche thing, that will quickly lose its appeal. If I had to guess, probably along the lines of Labo....

I'd love a Metroid game, but they also don't have a very wide appeal. Samus Returns on the 3DS sold under a million, and that was a brilliant game.

I think Prime 4 will sell quite well, but it will probably have that whole AAA visual spectacle appeal going for it, that a 2D game won't have.

everyone a Holiday title not always need to be released in novembre/decembre to be considered a Holiday title, Super Mario Odyssey was released on 27 of octobre of 2017 and was considered the holiday title of Switch for 2017, keep this in mind for futures Holiday titles for Switch.

@Giancarlothomaz they released a couple of games after Odyssey that year as well.

With the 35th anniversary Direct having merchandise, this from March makes a whole lot more sense:

Seems like we may have gotten the 35th anniversary Direct on March 10th (MAR10 day) or perhaps the 35th anniversary Direct contents being at the end of a full Direct that would've also had the March Direct Mini contents, Paper Mario and Pikmin 3.
