store listing on e-tailer Newegg (never heard of it) has said that 3d mario and zelda remake/remaster will be coming this year!! something interesting to ponder upon 😸

@OctolingKing13 I think both (especially 3D Mario) are pretty likely for a 2025 release. But, if this listing has a reliable source, I feel like it’d have the name of the games. Why would a retailer know the Zelda game is specifically a remake? How would they know the Mario game is 3D? I can’t imagine this store would be given knowledge on what the games are instead of the names of them.
I just wanna know if the rumours about games such as Driver getting a remaster to help fill in Switch 1 lineup is true. Hopefully we will find out early Feb.

@FishyS that seems like a good assumption! especially judgibg from past february directs (21st in 2024, 8th in 2023, 9th in 2022, 17th in 2021, and 20th in 2020) so yeah, mid february! im honestly predicting feb 12th, and maybe a xenoblade x direct later in the month? i know that might be unlikely, but it is a big game!
also really hoping that nintendo just isnt dead silent until april. REALLY hoping.

@FishyS I wonder how the recent Splatfest announcement will fit into things. They're repeating the Chocolate one (Dark vs. Milk vs. White) next weekend. Usually they wait until after the Splatfest is over but this one is a full repeat (unlike Splatoween and FrostyFest which were different in certain ways) and the original Splatfest took place a few days after the February 2023 general Direct.
@Grumblevolcano I think a Nintendo Direct wasn’t going to happen that day anyways because of the Direct on April 2nd (confusion with 4.2.25 and 2.4.25 would probably happen quite a bit). I’d expect the Direct possibly the week after at the earliest.
@PikminMarioKirby Feb 4th is also the day of the financial meeting... and it's a Tuesday which is a rare day for a direct. February directs are often later the same week as the financial meeting or the week after.
@Grumblevolcano Okay, so it was probably the same day as the Direct getting announced.
It’s possible we could get it next week (probably Wednesday/Thursday), wonder if there’ll be any more rumors about it once February hits (as there usually is right before Directs).
I think next Wednesday/Thursday is entirely possible, but it wouldn't surprise me if they save it for the following week so that if they shadowdrop something it has a good amount of space between DKC and XCX.
I don’t know if we should expect anything new to be shown from Nintendo themselves at the February Direct apart from maybe a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Everything they’re working on internally will be for Switch 2.

@PikminMarioKirby I think considering XCX is the only upcoming game with a release date (Prime 4 and Legends Z-A timings are as vague as the Switch 2), announce on the 4th for airing on the 5th makes sense. I think Nintendo's going to want to avoid talking about Switch 2 until April 2nd so it would be an easy way to shift the focus back to Switch 1.
Also earlier this week Sony leaked a PS version of Fantasy Life i and that game has only been getting news in Directs and Level-5 events so I figure Direct would share news about the game and outside the Direct the PS version is officially announced.
Nintendo has data transfer maintenance on February 4th, and network services maintenance on February 5th. Haven't Directs previously lined up with maintenances? The 5th is feeling more likely, if true I wonder if Pyoro will be actively talking about it this time (would be first Direct since the one they essentially caught him last June, but he has still been getting some stuff right since)
@PikminMarioKirby There have been, but there have also been similar maintenances not before directs. I don't recall if there are usually maintenance right after financial meetings.
Tomorrow I'm curious to see the weekly eShop releases... the number of them always drops significantly the week before directs.
