@Grumblevolcano Has Nintendo released N64 games the same month as SNES games? I do feel like the SNES game drop they did a few days ago kind of reduces the chances of an N64 game releasing this month.

@Pastellioli More likely Pyoro is either a casualty of...or evading the Nintendo legal ninjas, to the best of their ability. Their "source" at Nintendo likely blacklisted in the Japanese business world after Pyoro let it slip a few months ago.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,300 games (as of October 9th, 2024)

@Magician That all is pretty plausible. It does look and kinda feel like that Pyoro is kind of trying to get back into leaking somehow while trying to also be careful to not get in trouble again. Those random words the person posted could kind of mean anything (I’ve seen some people on another forum attempting to decipher it) but I think it could also just be random nonsense that has no true meaning at all.
@Pastellioli Almost every month of its existence there's been something for NSO Expansion Pack (N64, Mega Drive, GBA) meanwhile base NSO (NES, SNES, GB/GBC) became less frequent since the Expansion Pack became a thing.
@PikminMarioKirby Don't know, it all seems weird. We know from the Trails remake that the Partner Showcase (or a general Direct containing the Partner Showcase content) was planned for September but got moved to an August Partner Showcase for some reason. So if it's not soon then what was the point in moving the Partner Showcase?
My thoughts are:
Week beginning September 23rd - Feels very unlikely as it would overshadow Zelda. But if Nintendo were to do it then it would be September 24th because there's supposedly a State of Play that day. Nintendo seems rather pointed towards Sony recently, maybe Square Enix's new multiplatform strategy (which Square Enix seems to be blaming Sony for despite the real problem being Square Enix's sales expectations) got something like Super Mario RPG 2 cancelled?
Week beginning September 30th - Feels unlikely as too close to Zelda but Nintendo Museum opens October 2nd so if there's Switch 2 stuff in the museum, an announcement would have to occur on October 1st.
Week beginning October 7th - I agree that it's the most likely of the bunch if still announced this year. After that you have Jamboree, Brothership and the general holiday shopping season.
@Grumblevolcano Got it! Thank you for explaining. So either one of those three should get something soon then possibly. I would expect October if September comes and goes with no Expansion Pack updates.
If it's next week, I agree Tuesday is most likely. Because of time zones, TGS starts Wednesday evening NA time so having an announcement on Wednesday would be cutting it close.
I was wondering if they could use it to advertise Zelda rather than overshadow it by e.g. using Zelda as the 'look, we are playing Zelda Echoes on Switch 2 because back-compatibility is a thing' example. And then crazy people could watch frame by frame to try to prove the mild performance issues with the game have vanished.
I kind of doubt the museum is a factor; that museum will probably be booked solid for months and they can always add something about Switch 2 whenever it appears.
@Grumblevolcano@FishyS Sony has had presentations same day as (or really close to) Nintendo Directs before in September, could we see something like that again? I think a Direct is more likely next week over a Switch 2 reveal, although with Echoes of Wisdom next week it makes it feel less possible.

@Grumblevolcano Lol, I highly doubt that Super Mario RPG 2 would have gotten cancelled over something like that. Nintendo would likely be funding the development themselves (as they tend to do). What have they even done that seems pointed at Sony?
Both of Pyoro’s hints were correct, despite disappearing for a long time. ‘pih’ was Pirates in Hawaii (or something like that), and ‘rah’ was Rent a Hero. I believe both are Sega games, so this wasn’t Nintendo related.
Not sure why he still has a source, but I think this is legit.
@FragRed I mean it’s okay to be disappointed but I wouldn’t blame Pyoro, he has leaked quite a bit of 3rd party stuff before, so this wasn’t too out of the ordinary for his rumours.

@PikminMarioKirby Yeah but unfortunately Switch 2 is going wild right now. Nintendo is fully aware of it themselves hence the tweets they posted yesterday which are obviously flaming the whole crazies into overdrive.

I assume a ton of people reached out to Pyoro with possible additional info back when Pyoro was 'famous'. The new info is probably from one of those contacts. Which presumably means less reliable and/or less interesting.
@PikminMarioKirby There were the 2 retweets of Fortnite tweets that themselves were a couple of days old. The retweets were either a 🔥 or 💪 emojis. Definitely playing with the audience and the fact they’ve been really quiet past couple of days in general didn’t help expectations.

@link3710 The Palworld lawsuit itself is not surprising in the slightest and very much expected but the timing was very close to when a PS5 version was going to be announced. Sony's been very involved with the game over the past few months.
Oof, that rumoured State of Play is already starting to look like a trainwreck. Apparently more PS5/PC remasters of games that are already on PS4/PC like there was an ESRB rating for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
@Grumblevolcano That doesn't sound good especially since the PS5 is already backwards compatible with many PS4 games.
Directs and State of Plays in September often times happen pretty close to each other (probably since they're both supposed to happen before TGS), it'd be crazy to see both presentations this upcoming week but as for Nintendo, Echoes of Wisdom makes it feel a lot less likely.

@Grumblevolcano When games came out on Fridays, reviews would usually happen on Wednesdays, but now that we’re getting games on Thursdays, it could either be Tuesday or Wednesday.
If there was a Direct planned, I have no doubt Nintendo would be willing to move up reviews accordingly.
I’d say the only chance of a Direct this month is if it is announced Monday, aired Tuesday, Echoes of Wisdom reviews Wednesday, and Echoes of Wisdom release/TGS Thursday. I don’t think it’s that likely but pretty much the last chance pre-TGS
