Yeah NoA has been suspiciously quiet today so far.

I don’t have Twitter/X, but how many tweets does NoA usually make in a day? I’m assuming that on normal days their tweets are on already announced games and showcase trailers. Just asking since it seems like from what some people have been saying, it implies they have been super quiet as of late compared to how they usually are. I kind of don’t expect anything significant this week besides the SNES drop they announced yesterday.

EDIT: I should add that I don’t think that their tweeting schedule is going to lead to a Direct or any big announcement.

Although it's weird that they haven't tweeted anything at all today, I never expect a Nintendo announcement after 10:00 or 11:00 am est. In the past, when this kind of thing has happened, everyone speculates that there's a big direct announcement incoming, and then they post some random ad in the evening and call it a day.

That one leak for the Switch 2 unit was apparently fake. A friend said they heard it was made by a person who makes well-known fake leaks.

Notably it's for PATENT infringement, not copyright. Whatever this actually means in this case.

@BrazillianCara It means that Palworld probably copied over gameplay systems specific to Pokemon. Only way I can see this having any real case.

So we’re not getting anything this week? I find it interesting Nintendo stayed quiet for so long, then suddenly dropped a Zelda tweet out of nowhere.

Ehh I figured that nothing's happening Direct-wise this month since we just got an Online announcement and another Mario and Luigi trailer.

@VoidofLight This week was perfect timing for an announcement since it was the one available week, but Nintendo seemingly isn’t taking the opportunity.

Are people now moving on to October for the Switch Successor announcement? I still stand on week of October 7th, if it’s not that week it won’t seem very likely to be announced this year at all.

Not gonna lie, this new lawsuit kind of makes me wish they would wait for a decent while before announcing the new console/next direct. It would suck if the next big thing was tainted by the inevitable discourse.
Best-case scenario, Nintendo and Pocket Pair settle everything out of court soon with as little conflict as possible (preferably without shutting down Palworld).

Even if Palworld gets removed from sale, it was sort of warranted. Tired of people acting like Nintendo is in the wrong in the situation when they have legal grounds to stand on. The game devs from Pocketpair are unapologetic about copying other games. The CEO has been on record to say how Nintendo themselves pretty much spends too much time making new ideas instead of copying others, like he seems to think is "efficient."

Wouldn't surprise me if the case is literally one where Pocketpair either stole mechanics or systems from TPCi that were patented.

(Also the people who keep mentioning that Nintendo just wants to be the only one making Monster taming games don't understand that Yokai Watch was rivaling pokemon in Japan for a good few years TPCi didn't try to counteract Level 5 with a lawsuit for making games with similar business models to Pokemon along with the whole "creature collecting" angle. There's also a ton of other modern monster collecting games on switch- all made by Japanese devs).

I am a bit surprised that Palworld lawsuit was more over patent infringement and not really copyright infringement, given a lot of people have pointed out how some of Palworld’s monster designs look very close to various Pokémon designs or look close to ripping them off. Anyway, I don’t think that lawsuit has any relation to a direct or really hinders or increases the chances of one happening. I still don’t really expect a Direct to happen at all, seems more and more unlikelier by the day. Guess we will still wait and see, could be a chance they could but I don’t really expect one. I think next week is probably the last chance for one to happen this month, given they have held a Direct on the 23rd of September once. But, I honestly would not be surprised if a Direct didn’t happen next week.

@VoidofLight Exactly. If anything, Yo-Kai Watch kind of influenced Gen 7 of Pokemon (I wouldn't know firsthand, but I've seen talk about how Z-Moves are basically Soultimate moves, while things like the Rotom Dex and Poke-finder also are clearly Yo-Kai Watch inspired). Plus, Nintendo even threw their weight behind Yo-Kai Watch for a while, and while it's not clear if that was a call made by the suits in Japan or not, it very well could've been, since I'm pretty sure Iwata was the driving force behind Nintendo throwing their weight behind Dragon Quest and beginning to publish the games in the West. Nintendo of Europe also just offered Cassette Beasts as a Game Trial. It's quite clear that this isn't just Nintendo targeting a Pokemon competitor because they think they should have a monopoly on all games about collecting monsters. If Nintendo is suing, they absolutely think they have a justifiable reason to do so - it's not because Palworld sold well and they don't like that.

Crossing my fingers that Nintendo wants to hide the palworld story with something better to talk about!!

@Grumblevolcano That is possible, since they did that with OLED (and probably Lite but I don't remember), but I feel like they'd want this to be more hyped up. Who knows, a shadow drop announcement would actually be pretty hype though. I think today would be the last chance of that happening, they don't make that many announcements on Fridays/weekends

This isn't entirely accurate as I understand it. The PCB appears to be legit but a few revisions old and almost surely illegally obtained. The person who leaked all this is in China and there are theories about them but safe to say they live right in the middle of where all of this stuff is being put together. Which brings us to the shells

The shells appear to be made with fairly high end equipment. Probably not hobbyist tier. As I understand it the shells themselves appear to have the mechanism correct but some of the specifics are off. The going theory is that the person who made this probably works at an accessories manufacture. On their profile they were following and were followed by one in particular. The going theory is that they're an employee of this company and so had access to information about how the JoyCon connect, the size of the device etc. For accessory manufacture

It seems very likely that the JoyCon they leaked are not the official JoyCon designs but rather are their designs. But their designs built to work with the mechanism and size of the main unit. A main unit that they were able to mock up fairly well given the acquisition of that questionably obtained PCB

Lastly the leaked specs, these are the same as the specs that had already been confirmed independently. They could be legitimately obtained but they could also just be copy/pasted from the existing known list. Hard to say but.... I see no reason to not believe them. There was a LOT of evidence to support those details, even before this latest saga

@dew12333 I feel if they reveal Switch 2 now, their bullying of indie developers via patent laws is going to vastly outshadow it. I'd brace for them postponing any reveals. No idea what their PR department is thinking but surely they don't want to be liked.

Please get out of that false narrative that Pocketpair is using. Nintendo bullying indie devs?! You’re straight up choosing to ignore the fact that Nintendo is the one of the big three that supports most indie companies. To the point that they do an indie showcase

Not to mention how Nintendo supports many different indie monster collecting games. Monster Crown, Coromon, Nexomon, and Casette Beasts.
