Yeah, I mean. The message number next to your own message literally answers your own question lol. Not like those 16,000 messages popped out of thin air. ๐Ÿ˜›

Have no clue why the new Mario & Luigi and new Mario Party aren't available for preorder yet when Direct announcements like that are usually added straight away as soon as the show ends

There is a (fairly justified) theory that it relates to Nintendo fixing an information leak in their eshop backend. In particular, those first party games not showing up immediately is likely why the leaker Pyoro didn't leak the existence of Mario and Luigi to everyone. Pyoro has essentially admitted this and that they were essentially cut-off this time.

I assume Nintendo will add those preorders soon (maybe Friday if we're lucky?) and hopefully they will fix whatever their issues were by the next direct.

While Iโ€™m not directly affected since I already canโ€™t physically preorder these games in Kuwait, this still definitely sucks for Americans and those affected. I do hope it gets fixed.

@Yousef- Since none of the new games drop until September, pre-ordering isn't a huge concern; mainly it is just nice post-direct to be able to see the box art and official screen shots and add the game to your wishlist. We can't do that this time yet but obviously Nintendo wants us to buy their games so I doubt they will hold off too long. ๐Ÿ˜†

It's strange that the games still aren't listed on the official Nintendo of America website.

@VoidofLight It appears that Nintendo delayed most Direct announcement listings on the eShop specifically because they're aware of Pyoro (how could they not be - he trends every time a Direct is announced) and apparently had a hunch that the eShop backend was his main source. Everything Pyoro leaked for this Direct was one of the few things listed on either the US or Japanese eShop, and after people put two-and-two together, he admitted that he's obtained his information from the eShop backend. There's a good chance we won't be seeing him leak stuff again, but if he does, it will probably be scraps of third-party info, and that's if Nintendo doesn't cut him off entirely or potentially discover his identity.
I do hope all the Direct listings go up soon, but I imagine the delay is because Nintendo had to do it to cut off the most prominent leaker of their games.

@PikaPhantom So if I'm understanding right, Pyoro finally got caught?

@MarkL1987 Sure looks like it. He had an apparent vague tease for Mario Party as his only first-party leak that panned out, but even that may have been a lucky guess, and everything else was third-party or indie stuff that went live on the eShop immediately after the Direct (indicating it was already prepared on the backend). He has other sources, but doesn't find them to be anywhere near as reliable, hence why he was like "take this with a huge grain of salt but a source different from my usual one suggested a 2D Zelda remake could show up."

VoidofLight

@PikaPhantom Oh jeez. It's interesting how they managed to catch Pyoro like that.

My theory now is that Nintendo dealing with sussing out Pyoro is likely also why physical pre orders for the new first party stuff haven't been allowed to open yet at major retailers either afaik (at least, the ones in my area)

I wonder what the chances are of Metroid Prime 2 and 3 being released (shadow drops?) before the end of 2024 are??

So in the end NoA chose to save the overview trailer for after the Direct.

PikminMarioKirby

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo likely didnโ€™t want the attention off of LM2HD even with the Direct happening, so putting the overview trailer afterwards wasnโ€™t a bad idea. However I still think the Direct will overshadow the game to an extent.

Probably very low, unfortunately. If those were coming, they would have been shown here. Maybe 2025 if Prime 4 is late in the year.

@MarioBrickLayer @Sigran102
I think there's still a fair chance of Prime 2/3 on Switch happening before Prime 4. I doubt this year given how much is in the lineup and probably not early 2025 either given I would guess Switch 2 is around March and they won't want to pull focus

But if Prime 4 is late 2025 especially, and that's certainly a possibility, I could easily see Prime 2 and 3 landing on Switch around May or something just to keep the OG Switch ticking along

It totally flew over my head that P4โ€™s date isnโ€™t announced yet. There were soooooooooo many great announcements that it became tough to keep track of it all.

@MarioBrickLayer I definitely think it's happening before Prime 4 releases. The situation seems similar to Pikmin.

Pikmin:

  • September 2015 - Pikmin 4 announced
  • August 2020 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe announced
  • October 2020 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe released
  • September 2022 - Pikmin 4 re-reveal
  • June 2023 - Pikmin 1+2 released (digital shadow drop)
  • July 2023 - Pikmin 4 released
  • September 2023 - Pikmin 1+2 physical version released

Now with Metroid Prime:

  • June 2017 - Prime 4 announced
  • February 2023 - Prime Remastered released (digital shadow drop, physical released February/March 2023 dependent on region)
  • June 2024 - Prime 4 re-reveal
  • TBA 2025 - Prime 4 released

The 3 big potential timing points for Prime 2+3 seem to be:

  • Before Echoes of Wisdom (e.g. shadow drop in an early September Direct)
  • After Mario & Luigi Brothership (e.g. announced in a September Direct for release in November around Prime 2's 20th anniversary)
  • February 2025 (i.e. mirroring the Pikmin situation if Prime 4 was to release in March 2025)

@Grumblevolcano That's a strong argument honestly. So far it does seem like they're using very similar marketing tactics between the two franchises.
