I'd love for a 2d Wario to make a return. I really enjoyed shake it back on the wii.

@Duboiss Even if they are technically different sub-franchises, releasing two motion-control-oriented Wario games in a short time span still seems very unlikely to me.

We got some Wario Land on NSO recently at least.

Wake me up when we get those leaks off of the production line.

Like what we got with the Switch Lite in April 2019, five months before launch in September 2019.

Edit: five months, not six.

@Magician That’s the thing I’m waiting for as well, unless Nintendo decides to get ahead of the game for controlling the message and make the announcement.

I guess we're at that point in the year again where waiting for 3pm UK time on Tuesday/Wednesday each week to see whether there's a Direct announcement.

Surely at least wait until Feb 6/7 before we start unecessarily stressing about it.

@FishyS Looks like we've got confirmation it's definitely not this week:

Princess Peach Showtime got a new trailer.

Interesting that they didn’t save that trailer for next week or the week afters direct

I think we're all eager for the next Direct just to drink the salty tears of the fandom who want a new hardware announcement but won't get it. Am I right?

@Magician Meh. I’m just waiting for it to see if there’s anything new to announce or if it’s going to be a recap on the games we already know about. I’m expecting the new hardware to be revealed in March.

Not expecting a general direct until May at this point.

@Croctopus I mean, we’ve had two trailers like these within the last few weeks. Forget what the other game is, but it was another big one, which makes me seriously doubt we’re getting a general direct any time soon. The first direct of the year has potential to be the Pokemon Day presents on February 27th.

@VoidofLight @Croctopus I agree that the SMB Wonder comparison fits. Before it was cancelled, Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 was going to be last weekend of which Princess Peach Showtime was going to be playable. The new trailer would've coincided with the event to give people a better idea of how the game plays before they actually get to try it out much like the SMB Wonder Direct did for SMB Wonder prior to Nintendo Live Seattle 2023. The demo likely would've had Ninja and Cowgirl Peach playable.

Meanwhile the Mario vs. Donkey Kong trailer seems similar to what happened last year where we got a Kirby Return to Dream Land Deluxe trailer highlighting a new addition the week before the February 2023 Direct (Merry Magoland).

It's the others (Side Order, TTYD, LM2) which getting info out of nowhere would be a sign of no Direct.

As for timing, I'm mostly leaning towards February 1st though could see January 31st, February 7th or February 8th.

@Grumblevolcano Wow Nintendo are just announcing everything right now huh? I was expecting a Direct just to reveal a few dates and updates and then have the Switch 2 reveal. But now I’m thinking you maybe right.

If there is no Feb direct everyone is going to go crazy. 😅

@Grumblevolcano What's your feeling about the Pink joycons? It would feel odd to me if they announced Switch 2 before those came out given that Switch 2 is either incompatible with current joycons or else we get another set of joycons as part of Switch 2.

@FishyS Don’t think announcing pink joy cons means much regardless of whether a Switch 2 reveal happens before they are released. I’m sure Sony and Microsoft did same thing in run up to current generation consoles being released.

@FragRed Maybe, I just can't imagine many selling if they say 'new joy cons selling in 2 months' and then literally a week later tell us they are useless. Although I realize that may not effect the average parent buying things for their children.

@FishyS Highly doubt they’ll be useless. Almost guaranteed the Switch 2 will be fully compatible with current joy cons.
