since Princess Peach Showtime will be playable on Nintendo Live 2024 japan, theres a possibility Nintendo will do a mini/general Nintendo Direct or a Direct focused on the game next january.
Yeah, I don't expect any mainline Nintendo Direct anytime soon. Probably we get a Pokemon Presents on Pokemon Day first, then maybe a Switch 2 presentation sometime between March and June.
@Bolt_Strike If Switch 2 isn’t revealed until after March, I do think there’ll be a general Direct in the first couple of months. But I’m still leaning on Nintendo making the reveal before the financial year ends.

I will say, it's odd how quiet things are about 2 of the 3 known remaining main releases of the year. Batman Arkham Trilogy releases in a week and we've seen no gameplay since the reveal in June and digital preorders aren't even live yet. Meanwhile TPC are being rather quiet about Indigo Disk DLC, by now in the Sword/Shield promo cycle there was big info about Crown Tundra DLC:

There's been plenty of info about Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince though.
Didn’t furukawa explicitly say that there won’t be a new console tease or reveal before march 2024? The next direct is February, so it will most likely be some trailers for already announced games and an additional remake
@TheBigBlue Thought he said there wouldn’t be any new hardware releasing this financial year which is why people like myself started assuming a reveal could well happen.

@Grumblevolcano The pokemon thing is because they want to keep most of the new stuff in the dLC under wraps. We got previews showcasing gameplay recently, but I doubt we’ll get a large trailer.

Nah, I think we know a lot about Indigo Disk actually. There's just not much to it. It seems like SV DLC just has less content than SwSh's and there's less in terms of extra features. It's mainly just new areas and Pokemon and a short story arc. But in terms of "extra features" we have plenty... by Game Freak's standards (not much to us, but Game Freak probably thinks it's enough). From the August 8th Pokemon Presents and the Pokemon World Championships trailer on we know the following:
-We seem to be able to unlock the ability for Koraidon/Miraidon to fly freely.
-We can catch all of the past gen starters somehow.
-There is a room called the League Club which we can redecorate and we can also invite Gym Leaders to visit and rematch them.
-Then of course there's new Pokemon such as Archaludon, Raging Bolt/Iron Crown, and Terapagos.
There's probably not much more than that in the DLC period and they're probably not revealing anything more than they already have.
@Bolt_Strike Feature wise, that’s about it. The main draw for this DLC seems like it’ll be the story itself. They’re teasing around 2 new areas, being an expansion on Area Zero and the bio-dome in the academy. The academy seems like both a post-game battle facility along with a proper secondary school. There’s also more pokemon than the ones that got revealed, but not that many more. Mostly legendaries and a mythical.

Well this aged poorly. Still not much, but it looks slightly better at least.
Not long after Indigo Disk though, we have Pokemon Day in February and they'll probably announce a new game for 2024. What, though, is an interesting question, the last year or two in the generation is typically pretty difficult to predict and that's where they do some of their wackiest things. I mean since 5th gen we've had:
-A sequel instead of a third version
-A break year with no follow up to the new generation
-A mobile inspired game on the next generation device
-A dual release with a similar looking remake and a prequel that boldly reimagines the same region
Fair chance the next game will take place in an old region of some kind (Johto and Unova are the most likely choices), but as to the exact execution? I think they're going to surprise us in some way and do something with them we're not expecting. What exactly that is is the million dollar question though.
Also, it feels beyond time for the main series Pokemon games to make the jump to NSO. At the very LEAST Red/Blue need to be announced on Pokemon Day.
Hmm... that could be related actually, maybe in the same way that they treat DLC as a "new game" they could do the same with NSO re-releases? That would be a nice way to have some Pokemon content while taking a break to give 10th gen the focus and polish it desperately needs. But then again, they seem to like having something where they can introduce new Pokemon, evolutions, and regional variants, and they can't really do that with an NSO port.
Alternatively, if they can get GSC and RSE on NSO, then they can give Unova the focus with a new game, then the Switch would have every Pokemon region playable in some form except Kalos and Alola (which could then get remakes on the Switch 2). Lot of moving pieces here which makes me even more curious about what they're doing for 2024.
@ElRoberico absurd, how could they disrespect the developers this much, 10 minutes for Kojima new game, but only 30 seconds for the winners, absurd and disrecpetiful for them
@Giancarlothomaz it shouldn't be one thing. The Game Awards should be an actual ceremony that's part of Winter Games Fest, especially since there were a few smaller announcement shows. The three hour broadcast shouldn't be crammed with game announcements.

@ElRoberico
I think viewership would be much lower if it were only an award show for video games, to be honest. Even if they pepper it with those live performances and some celebrity appearances, it would be a much harder sell.
@ElRoberico I think an announcements event (Winter Game Fest) in the usual December slot and The Game Awards in January (hence allowing the cutoff date for nominations being mid-December instead of mid-November) as an awards show would work best.
