@VoidofLight Nintendo also reportedly holds on to many finished projects for some time until they release - take Fire Emblem Engage, which has concrete evidence indicating it was finished in 2021 (hence why its DLC waves were out really quickly). It's not impossible that Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD have met this fate, especially when they're essentially the only first-party Wii U games left that didn't either get 3DS versions, aren't heavily designed around the Wii U GamePad in some way, aren't smaller games, or aren't odd ones out like Xenoblade Chronicles X (it's been suggested its scope is too big for Switch by Monolith, iirc) or Paper Mario: Color Splash (which has mostly been swept under the rug). Many "leakers" are generally full of hot air, but other longtime rumors have translated into real games as well. A few have even suggested the Zelda games have been benched as well and will launch at whatever opportune moment Nintendo sees for them. A shadowdrop during what's become the biggest event in games (which will also have a prominent focus on the latest entry in the series) might be what makes the most sense, especially when "Z R 2023" kind of has to mean remaster or remake launching this year if the original Tweet from Toto for TOTK is any indication. And no, I don't think it'd be a Grezzo remake of the Oracle games or something along those lines, given we're beginning to see a trend of games being omitted from NSO due to faithful remakes being in the works.

@PikaPhantom I don’t know the Toto leaker that you keep talking about, but I’ll believe it when I see it. This rumor has gone around ever since wii u ports existed, and has been proven to be wrong year after year. This year will be no different.

@VoidofLight Less so a "leaker" as we know them than a guy who A) definitely has connections based on his job and B) has seemingly only made the 2 Zelda tweets in the past as far as "leaks" go. And nothing about the 2023 one suggests it will be Wind Waker/Twilight Princess either

The only “evidence” given is goofy ahh zippo stuff, a trademark filed in 2020, and an interview where the person behind Zelda said “I don’t think many people who played TotK know who Rauru originally appeared”
I like watching Nintendo Primes’ livestreams and a few of his videos from time to time but the clickbait is god awful

If a OoT remake gets announced, I will eat my shirt

@Kermit1 yep.

Honestly, if people are gonna make up BS rumors, they should atleast be creative about it and make it something like a Nintendogs sequel and not another OoT remake

@Grumblevolcano @VoidofLight, why Nintendo need to show something at TGA? they already have Nintendo Direct to show it games, it pointless showing Metroid Prime 4, or any games at the event, beside if Nintendo show Metroid Prime 4 and immediately Rockstar show GTA 6, everyone would forget Metroid Prime 4 was show and start hyping GTA 6, better show such games, when theres no chance of it games been overshadowed by a much bigger game

i like HD Rumble.

Grumblevolcano

@Giancarlothomaz By your logic, Prime 4 also shouldn't be shown in a Direct if GTA6 is coming to Switch 2. But in any case it's unlikely Rockstar would show off GTA6 at the Game Awards because it would harm GTAV holiday sales. A typical person buying a PS5 this holiday will probably be getting Modern Warfare III, EA Sports FC 24 and GTAV.

What’s with the sudden talk about something Zelda related being announced at TGA? I just want an announcement of Metroid Prime 2 & 3 remastered there along with a Prime 4 sneak peek but that’s copium

Probably doesn't mean anything but a gaming industry analyst has just put out this cryptic tweet which, according to many, MANY different people, seems to be hinting towards the release of a Zelda remake before year's end.

Maybe Wind Waker/Twilight Princess have a chance after all?

@PikaPhantom Still won’t believe it until it happens. It has been rumored every year since launch, and I doubt Nintendo were holding on to finished ports for 7 years.

PikaPhantom

@VoidofLight Definitely not that long. I just hope the rumor they get bundled together physically does pan out if the games do come

PikaPhantom

Grumblevolcano

@VoidofLight @PikaPhantom I think it was 2020/2021 when rumours started, before then it was just the speculation of "it's a Wii U game so of course Nintendo would port it to Switch".

How long has it been since a Partner Showcase?

June of 2022?

Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

Turns out you may be right, GTA6 is getting a reveal in early December:

FragRed

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo are definitely gonna wait to reveal Prime 4 until the reveal of the Switch 2 now. Though I’m sure Geoff Keighley has been pleading with Rockstar to get GTA 6 revealed at his trailer showcase awards thingy-bob just to please that ever growing ego of his.

Grumblevolcano

@FragRed I'm leaning more towards the Fighters Pass 3 theory at this point. It's the Nintendo announcement that has the best chance of competing with GTA6 (Steve broke twitter, that didn't happen with GTA5) and there's this reveal from the shareholders meeting regarding beyond March 2024:

"We will continue to release new games and content for Nintendo Switch without being bound by the traditional concept of the platform lifecycle."

Content means DLC and the only 1st party Switch game that currently has content beyond March 2024 at the moment is Splatoon 3 (even then it's possible that Side Order releases on February 29th given wave 1 was Spring 2023 and released February 28th). So I think this increases the chance of further Smash Ultimate support.
