@westman98 Other M is so frustrating, and it's a rewrite away from being a great game.
But generally, yeah. I think IS having a handle on how they want to present Fire Emblem really helps things. Metroid has a string of bad luck. That being said, I do think we see Metroid 6 a lot sooner than expected.

@Grumblevolcano I would be surprised if it was that early in February. As much as I'd hate to wait, I really want it to be the week of 2/20-24 because I'm off work that week, and I can guarantee a watch live.

@ElRoberico I would be cool with that for the same reason. But I could also see it being early February; last year was Feb 9th I believe so it wouldn't surprise me if it came tail end of January after Engage releases.
@ElRoberico I'm looking at it that there's a lot of DLC/update news to cover, the most notable of which is Splatoon 3 Season 3 which begins March 1st. For Season 2 (starting December 1st 2022), we got:
Flounder Heights and Brinewater Springs maps (both announced in the August Splatoon 3 Direct)
X Battles (announced in the August Splatoon 3 Direct)
Big Run (announced in the August Splatoon 3 Direct)
New catalog (content was teased in the September general Direct)
A bunch of weapons (announced in a November 14th trailer)
Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour Splatfest (announced in a December 16th tweet which the event started January 6th/7th dependent on time zone)
The only currently announced future content so far is:
League Battles (announced in the August Splatoon 3 Direct)
Paid Expansion related to Pearl and Marina (announced in the August Splatoon 3 Direct though nothing really revealed about it)
The game is being supported for 2 years including a new catalog every 3 months at the beginning of each season
Taking this into account, if they were to have Splatoon 3 in the next Direct then February 1st/2nd seems like it would fit the most. There are other updates and DLC incoming soon like Sparks of Hope wave 1, XC3 wave 3 and MK8 Deluxe wave 4 but Splatoon 3 Season 3 is the one that needs more info sooner.
@Grumblevolcano that's completely fair. To be honest, this is the first Splatoon that I'm playing as it's being supported, and even then, I kind of forgot about the catalog being a thing that expired. Plus the other DLC as well. I just selfishly hope it's later so I don't have to dodge work.
@NintendoByNature march is more likely for Nintendo to do the first Nintendo Direct of the year, april would be too late (specialy if they show something of Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in this Nintendo Direct, not only in a dedicated Direct for the game).
So this has been discussed on a few other threads, but emails are going on asking people to play Mario Odyssey and says "there might be even more to discover". Anyone thinking an Odyssey announcement at the next Direct?
@GrailUK Why do that after 5 years? It doesn't make sense to promote Odyssey specifically if they don't have more content planned. If the purpose is just "Hey, have you played the recent Mario games?", there's also games like 3D World + Bowser's Fury, NSMBU Deluxe, and Super Mario Maker 2 as well which are all more recent than Odyssey. Just promoting Odyssey now makes it look like they're trying to generate interest in future Odyssey content.
@Bolt_Strike Do you ever listen to Spawnwave or the Spawncast podcast? They have discussed Mario a few times and they think a 2D Mario game might be coming this year. As a tie in to the movie as a 2D game is more accessible to a movie fan who isn't a gamer and this may help them sell more units...This seems logical to me, they could save the new 3D title to be a launch title for the new hardware...
"Mario movie tie-in game" must be tied with "Switch Pro" as the most common myth in the modern Nintendo community.
If there is a Mario game this year, it will be totally separate from the movie, much like how Sonic Frontiers has nothing to do with the Sonic 2 movie.
