Just imagine if Nintendo tried have Galaxy 2 as a $20 DLC in the future. A DLC for a limited game...that would be hilarious
(I mean, there's no way they don't throw Galaxy 2 in there sometime in the future, it was the highest rated game of the decade and held that spot for 10 years)
@Giancarlothomaz I just saw that on Twitter! That turned my day around big time! That's all I wanted out of a 3D World port. So that's huge, I'm definitely getting it now.
And if the motion controls really are optional, that turns around my opinion of the Galaxy port too. Sunshine's looking okay too (never really had issues with that), though the underbaked 64 port and missing Galaxy 2 still hurt.
@link3710 I wouldn't get too excited about the online in 3D World until we see how it runs though. Super Mario Maker 2 is basically unplayable a lot of the time so hopefully they can manage a lot better than that at least.
As for this holiday season, my prediction is that there isn't a retail release. If there is, it'll be either New Pokemon Snap or the rumored Skyward Sword HD.
I think we'll get a Sakurai livestream that reveals the next Smash fighter later this month, with a release the first week of October.
Then we'll get a Partner Showcase the last week of this month that showcases more 3rd party titles for November/December, with another one in late October to reveal stuff for early 2021. I think that will be the last one, at least for this year.
Throw in the Crown Tundra DLC in November and some Animal Crossing updates and that'll do it for this year.
As I was watching the Mario Direct I was thinking they'd sneak in a Smash fighter announcement who are from the Mario games. I was hoping for Birdo or I could have made do with Toad but I had a weird feeling it was going to be Waluigi.
@jump I feel like Pirahna Plant is probably going to fill that spot for the new Mario rep this time around. I don't think a single series repped in Smash has gotten two completely different fighters in the same game from what I remember
Richter Belmont & Daisy don't count because they're echo fighters based off of existing characters
@jump@TheFrenchiestFry Smash 4 had Robin and Corrin, Melee had Peach, Bowser, and then Zelda/Sheik, Brawl had Pokemon Trainer and Lucario (so technically 4 characters), and I might've forgotten about other non-clone candidates. I do think the lack of any Smash news minus a new tournament means there won't be another Mario DLC character, at least yet. But of any character who could get in...Waluigi's out of the picture, Paper Mario probably is because they just added Origami King spirits, Captain Toad is highly unlikely, Pauline has no real moveset potential, and that leaves...Geno, who could easily be upgraded to a special Mii costume or become a fighter because of the demand. But if they were going to do Geno, I think they would've made him line up with the anniversary. They've clearly been planning something for Mario's 35th for quite a long time, so it's feasible.
I would also assume that any subseries is off-limits, even though DK Jr. is making his return to Mario Kart as confirmed in the Direct. I'd be down for Dixie, though - she has some good potential, like her bubblegum gun being neutral special, the DKCR/TF Rocket Barrel being a side special, and her up special of course being her helicopter hair move.
Also any subseries is apparently off limits yet you still mention Geno and Paper Mario, who are characters originating from subseries lol. Also Peach and Bowser is a good point, but Zelda/Sheik were introduced as a single character, with the Sheik transformation literally being part of her moveset. They were seperated into two from Smash 4 onwards due to the technical limitations of the 3DS
@Magician I imagine one could happen close to TGS to provide updates on stuff like DOOM Eternal, Bravely Default II and No More Heroes III, and maybe some announcements related to games like Bayonetta 3 and SMT V
I wouldn't expect them to pull out any major announcements however

@BenAV Yeah, but if I play with my friends instead of randos it works pretty dang well with nary a hitch. I only have issues when I'm using matchmaking.
@damien33ad Well, I wouldn't say incredible. Wii games were €20 a piece on the Wii U. N64 games were only €10. So this was probably €45 by Wii U standards. I'd say it's a bare minimum collection for that price. At least they're not €60 each...
@Octane they did launch in the uk in 2015 with a price tag of 9.99£
That’s super mario galaxy and super mario galaxy 2 both for 9.99 each at launch week.
If you had super mario 64 on wii it was 99p for the wii u rom
