Do you guys think Nintendo has to announce at least one new game within 2 weeks after the Paper Mario release (like they did after Animal Crossing)? Or can they go 1 month+ without us knowing anything about the rest of the year?
@Yoshi87 I'd guess Paper Mario is the longer game and that's why it came first, droughts are less bad when games before the drought started are long. Like for me the wait for the January 2018 Direct Mini wasn't annoying because XC2 is very long. The chaos with flaming Chibi-Robo and the Odyssey image with Fe (EA leaked that a Direct was coming) and other Direct Mini hints was also very fun to be honest.
I saved DQXIS for times like these as that's a giant 100+ hour game. I'll get back to it if Nintendo's not announced anything by the time I finish Paper Mario and if Xbox is pretty much holiday 2020 packed but before then is barren.
Since WWE Battlegrounds is being published by 2K Games, it'll be swimming with microtransactions. I assume that's the reason for all of the ridicule. Otherwise I think the game looks like a lot fun. But I imagine more than a few people would've preferred a port of WWE All-Stars.
@Grumblevolcano That's a very good point - I hadn't thought about the length of the game, but I think you are probably right as Pikmin 3 Deluxe probably wouldn't hold people over very long.
Earlier this year Nintendo projected their 2020 hardware sales at 17m. Five million fewer Switches than what sold for the fiscal year of 2019. The Switch will have no problem reaching that goal. Investors will be satisfied while Nintendo consumers will not be satisfied.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
August 6th is when the Q1 results (April - June 2020) are released. It'll be interesting to see if Animal Crossing overtakes MK8 Deluxe, pretty sure it'll have at least overtaken everything else by the end of June.
Since it's so hard to develop new games from home, imagine if Nintendo had like a wealth of legendary legacy content that could be emulated on Switch with little to no effort and could be used to tide us over until their bigger releases are ready? It's too bad they don't have anything like that. 👀
@FragRed@jump Next year would be standard. Nintendo Selects usually launch between the 4th and 5th anniversaries since the rebranding from Player's Choice (which had similar timeframes I think?). Pushing that up by a few months isn't out of the question. My guess is next Summer though.
@Slowdive Ugh I tried to listen to that video but it was impossible. They talk so slow and meandered around without any sort of point. What was the upshot of it?
