I don't know what irritates me more... the guys who write knee-jerk translation articles, or the people who continue to treat them as fact long after they've been rectified.

The comment section of that article just makes me sad, they pretty much only read the headline, just like people who only look at scores in reviews.

Interestingly, Monster Hunter Unite was one of the most popular and long lived of the series in the West. That was a follow up of Monster Hunter Freedom 2. So I'm sure the reception to XX as an improvement of Generations (since it's actually X in Japan) would have also been very good.

I'm definitely going to be importing XX, without question. I'll just skip all the text, hunt the heck out of whichever monster I want an armor set from, and just check which pieces highlight as purchasable. Keep coming back til I have em all. Capture and kill hunts are determined by color, so that's not a worry. Items have icons, and common sense will solve a lot of issues. Plus Gaijin Hunter has promised tutorials for those importing. I think it's extremely doable and would be a wise investment in case the next entry is not localized... having done it once it'll make it easier next time.

But I'm super excited for Worlds now too. This game on a portable console would have been a dream come true. Heck even XX localized would be a dream come true. But much more so for Worlds, which is now the number one most hyped game of my entire natural life. More than a dream game. It's everything I ever imagined it could be and more. I've never felt this excited for a video game. It's time to get on board the hype train if you're a MH fan. Platform hopping sucks but gosh dang, screw it ya know. We should counter ourselves lucky a MH game that looks this insane even exists. I'll buy on Xbox One X, since 4K is confirmed as supported, and X1 will be better than the Pro.

Also, MHXX released on 3DS. And 3DS is hacked. And games on a hacked 3DS get fan translations. It turns out this game already has a fan translation- just items, menus and weapom labels but, it's a start and could be used as reference while playing the JP game on Switch. And maybe The translation will get patched with an update before the game actually releases.

I have MHXX preordered on Amazon Japan. I figure it can't be as hard as it seems. Generations was an extremely easy game to play.

I think I'll just import the JP demo. I can wait to play an HD Monster Hunter until World. I don't have a huge urge to go back to fourth gen now that fifth exists in the public ether.

If MH Worlds wasn't releasing 8-9 months after MHXX, I might care less. But that's the better part of a year to wait... without any MH action.

Not only that, but even if Worlds released same day, MHXX provides the ability to play MH anywhere, which means I will always have a nice, robust, full G-rank Monster Hunter (celebration of the series at that, with tons of content from all past entries) to play at any time, anywhere. And unless Xbox One X is folds up into your pocket, Worlds won't have any impact on my desire for portable HD MH.

It's still fun to go back to older games sometimes, I've been going back and forth between 4U, Gen, and 3U. Of course it takes me a bit to get used to 3U mechanics again, though. xD

Someone started a petition for MHXX in the west. Hasn't caught much attention yet but, thought I'd share it in the hope that it still could catch on

Just got ahold of MHXX v3 English tranlation on 3DS... I'm dead serious about playing this game on Switch. Will need all the help I can get.

Sadly this won't catch much attention due to being written in Italian. I'll sign it though.

Just be patient people, sheesh, even if it doesn't show up GaihinHunter usually posts tutorials on it. (especially if it's never localized so you have an easier time navigating and finding stuff) As for English/translation mods, hopefully one shows up somewhere, no idea if we'll be able to share it though. (maybe the other mods will make an exception to this one, I know I'm in though. xD)

I'm certain it'll be announced around the Japanese release.

Hey, just on principle I had to support it when I saw it. Thinking "this won't work" is why things like that never work.

But holy cow, screw the nonsense, I just hit the motherlode of discoveries!!!

Google Trabslate App let's you tap camera icon, and it translates Japanese text into English instantly! I'm playing MHXX right now on 3DS, just to get a save started and get through the intro and everything so I can transfer to Switch later. And while menus, items, names, Hunter log, weapons, armor, palicos, etc are all basically 100% translated already with the latest patch, the dialog and some things are not.

But this app, you just hold phone and it auto detects text on 3DS, and in a split second shows what it says in English. Holy moly!

@JaxonH Yeah, someone on the subreddit was talking about that. Seems like it'll help a lot, though it is just one additional step before typing it in and looking it up on Kiranico.

For me (And I imagine most) it's not just one additional step. There's no copy paste from a digital 3DS/Switch screen, which means figuring out how to get Japanese letters to even show on a keyboard, then looking for the right one like where's waldo character by character. Plus I hear Japanese has thousands of different characters used as words. So I always chalked Google translate to to being more trouble than it's worth. I'd likely spend 45 minutes just trying to find the first matching character.

This is literally half a second and it translates on the spot.

Not exactly ideal for translating dialog, but if there's something you run across that's questionable, have your phone next to you with the app open, and just tap the camera icon and read what it says.

I'm blown away by this technology.

Will make things easier when looking up favorite arts/styles, hopefully I won't have to deal with this.

According to one of the 'leakers' for World Capcom is already working on a new Switch Monster Hunter.

...It better not be the Portable Team, lol
