I think I’m at the mid-point, and things seem to be happening at a break-neck pace with little to no build-up to them.

So far, I kind of wish the story were longer. So many things that happen, but barely have much of a reason to. I thought you would have to actually bond with ratha a bit more before he gets captured. Ena’s character is effectively cardboard so far, and it feels like the reoccuring characters only exist to make people ignore the low amount of new characters + fanservice. They don’t even really do enough with them to give the first time players a good understanding of their characters.

Anybody have any tips on dealing with the harder monsters that hit twice? I have no trouble with them when I am paired with a partner character and have a bit more space to set up but when it's just me I struggle.

Took a break from Skyward Sword and came back to MHS2. My egg finally hatched. And I got clobbered by the Mountain, this Durambouros that wrecked my whole entourage. Just made it into ice country.

@JaxonH Nice! Which monsters do you have in your party?

Still rockin Monoblos, Basarios, Royal Ludroth, Blue Yian Kut-Ku and Velocidrome, and Razewing Ratha, of course.

Was gonna slide in Nargacuga and Yian Garuga but I like the spread of abilities in the current lineup, and, I’ve put in quite a bit of work into the genes of Monoblos, Basarios and Royal Ludroth. Will probably change it up though because I found the field skills don’t really matter much. So you miss a chest with 3 antidotes or something- who cares. I get so much crap from scanning 10 amiibo every day it doesn’t feel needed.

@JaxonH Narcaruga stayed with me the whole game haha. His invisibility ability was really helpful and I have him a bingo build that helped him stay decent in stats. I also really like that monster. You probably have noticed already but just in case I'll mention that some field abilities have more use depending on the region.

Ok, so I've been cruising along without any real problems. Really just keeping my starting squad of Pokemonsties (ranmar, a bulldrome, kut-ku, can't remember what else.) I haven't really been farming eggs or "fusing demons" so far. The game hasn't really presented too much difficulty. Until the Reverto quest with the Plesioth. Suddenly Plesioth toasts me and my pokemonstie in 1-2 hits. I tried to farm other monsters thinking I needed better armor. The crab things give armor that doesn't seem so great. Tried to go after purple ludroth....he toasts my monsties easy. Everyone's lv22 or so.

So I have to figure out what kind of building I should be doing, and I'm not quite sure what I need.

@NEStalgia Well, gene modifying would definitely make a difference if you wanna keep the same monsties. About armor, I don't know what set you have but I think that armor and weapons should be changed and upgraded as much as possible. Some good monsters to have at that point are: Narcaruga, Khezu (white or red), Basarios, Monoblos, Anjanath and Zamtrios.

Oh, and Zinogre and Tigrex. Probably the best ones if you can get if you find them and beat them, specially Zinogre. Gammoth is also available but he's underwhelming at first and it's fight is hard, although perfectly doable.

@roy130390 So what's the story behind your avatar? My curiosity has been piqued.

Zelda and Sonic forever, just not in a shippy way.

roy130390

@inenai Oh, it honestly isn't anything special haha. I saw this video called " happy souls" and made a gif of a certain part of the video that I thought it was funny. I used to play Demon's and Dark Souls for the PvP quite a lot so I always found these semi naked guys doing rolls, teleporting and hacking or having bad connections. Sorry for the underwhelming story, you are probably disappointed haha.

@roy130390 I'm using the Zamtrios set still. I'd have upgraded to the last big monster, but that one has fire weakness I believe, same as Zamtrios which doesn't sound like a good bet for the desert. I've been keeping weps relatively upgraded. It's mostly armor issues right now (myself and monstie defense that they seem to get 2-shot easily now.) I guess I have to go fetch eggs (ugh, my least favorite part.) But then I have to grind those eggs to decent levels...and get rid of my early monsters since there's minimal stables room and I never have bottlecaps. I was hoping this game would feel less grindy than mainline MH

NEStalgia

VoidofLight

@NEStalgia it’s not really grindy at all honestly. Just do the side quests on the quest board to level monsties up, and make it a habit of going into dens and fetching eggs.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

NEStalgia

@VoidofLight I was going to do the eggs, but once I found out they limit how many eggs you can have to a handful I basically stopped getting any eggs after Hokolo and planned to stick with the originals. Otherwise I have to free them, and that sucks....

NEStalgia

roy130390

@NEStalgia You can upgrade the stable number with the cat that wants bottle caps as payment. Also, remember to push ZR and ZL to finish some battles instantly, that allows quick leveling up as well as what VoidofLight mentioned. Also yup, definitely another armor set should help a lot .

@roy130390 I never have bottle caps! I guess I'm not doing those quests. Or something. Or everdens. Because I haven't been collecting eggs, because I ran out of space!

Oh, I don't think I ever even realized there was a ZR/ZL thing. That's cool. I do have Nargacuga, he's like level 5 I should at least bring him back in. I was mostly using Ratha before that as a standard tank.

NEStalgia

VoidofLight

@NEStalgia Bottlecaps are from everdens. You can also release monsties you don’t need if you want space, and you need to hatch the eggs in the carton to get more space, as that’s the only thing which can’t be upgraded.

@NEStalgia
Everdens show on the map and are Square rather than an arch. Whenever you see one on your map or out in the field immediately go into it and get all the treasure chests and the egg. Bottle caps galore. You’ll have so many you won’t know what to do with them. My stables are already at 60 and barely just hatched Ratha. And I’ve bought other stuff like outfits and nutriments.

Keep one of each monster, and the duplicates use in the rite of channeling. Even if they’re level 1, there’s some skills you can grab to buff another or make a bingo.

Hello fellow riders, well met honorable hunters!

Maybe one of you can help. I'm desperately looking for HR Ash Kecha-Wachas to farm for materials. I ran into one in a HR hive in the gardens, but besides that, I just can't seem to find any. Any reliable way to farm them?

Thank you!
