No. You can, however, use a skill (or item?) that guarantees them to evade the next move. I know I’ve seen that skill at some point in my playtime.

Gotta be high rank to get Palamute eggs (who woulda thunk it- doggos hatching from giant eggs! It’s a miracle!), and I believe you have to do co-op expeditions it said? I’m not far enough in to have that unlocked yet, but I’ll get there.
Currently doing all the sub quests I hadn’t finished yet. Finally did the last one, then I tracked down all the Catavan stands I missed, and all the everdens. There’s still one area I can’t access because I can’t fly- East Kamura, but all in good time.
LOL I'm just giving up on the royal Tigrex for now. I almost got to the end of the fight by using an ability that restores hearts to my ally, but he just died too often for me to be able to save him. Died to him like 5 times now. I'll just wait until I get a stronger partner character.

I got to one dungeon, which didn't have save points, and it wiped out my monstie and I, despite being full health. It used a fire breath attack I'm pretty sure.

As I was taking on all my sub quests I came across a Basarios that came out at night, he KO all 4 of us from full health right near the end of the fight, which was enough to push us over the triple cart limit.
I came back again and strategized more, used a trap as soon as he got enraged toward the end, then rode my monster in case of a KO it wouldn't take a heart. Barely won with a single heart left, and that was after using an item to restore a heart.
Felt great.

@DomGC I had the exact same experience with that Monster. I was just searching for a Red Khezu for a few materials when I ran into them. I was wholly unprepared and my armor was weak to his attacks so he kept one-shotting me when moves connected 😅
It feels good running into monsters that mop the floor with your entire entourage. Keeps the fear of God in you, rather than letting you get too cocky from lower level fights.
I'm coming for that Tigrex. Not now... but soon.

I'm already about 9 hours in, and I just got the flagship monster of the game. So far, the game's pretty great, but one small thing that broke my immersion is in the cutscene when you first get Razewing Ratha. In this scene, it hatches from it's egg, staying a baby for the entirety of two scenes. Then afterwards, without any explanation or time jump, it's instantly a juvenile, just with limitations on what you can really do with it. Am I the only one a bit bugged by the lack of time passing, or a proper explanation on how the Rathalos grew in between the two scenes?

@VoidofLight Probably because it just feels like a gamey mechanic with other monsters, which are sort of interchangable, but Ratha is actually a plot-relevant monstie.

Seems doing a few sidequests to go up a couple of levels, sacrificing a few of my extraneous monsties to toughen up my main party, and switching to somewhat more protective armor gave me the edge I needed. Managed to keep my partner alive and destroy the Royal Tigrex. Boom!

@Ralizah I've still been very cautiously walking around the Tigrex, around what level and gear did you have when you attempted it? Although, to be fair, I am not sure level matters all that much.
@Balta666 I've started to pick up on that/pay attention to it more now. Still early on mind, just entered the third area. If I'm right the smell has to do with the genes and the weight is related to the base stats, right?
