I’ve put 25 hours in the demo already, and have already done some insane maneuvers. So glad Switch has video capture and can easily post to Twitter to share those special moments.

When Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate released, you couldn’t even take Miiverse screenshots for the game. Not even screenshots! I was so disappointed because the monsters looked so cool and the textures looked so good (at the time, this was hot off the launch of 3DS and the sun had just set on the Wii). Then MH4U and MHGen were stuck on 3DS where screenshots were a 2 minute affair due to slow load times for Miiverse. Wasn’t worth it.

MHGU and MH World were the first games where everyone had easy access to system level screenshots and video capture. And I’m so glad that’s a thing now, because Rise looks gorgeous and the things you can do in this game are nuts

I love that monster. It’s rare to see fanged beasts that predominantly walk on their hind legs. His move set is so slick, too. That spin move... wow.

And that Hunter armor set and weapon! It’s so gorgeous! I gotta have it. It’s a charge blade too? Oh ya. Absolute must have.

@JaxonH I do agree you really need to put time into this game I remember when I started out playing the beta for MHW (first MH btw) I was wondering what to do I though it was stupid that the monsters scream at you and you can get Messed up but after time I learnd form my mistakes like your really hunting, I don't play solo player to often tho bc I just love hunting with others it just make me feel like i'm on a real hunt with a real team. Love this game

Heck yes! It’s so good too! It actually has gold rather than the greyish silver of past designs!

I need two of them. One to display with the MHW PS4 Pro, another to use. And two of the Pro Controllers. Same reason. Gosh dang this is gonna get expensive. That’s like close to $1000, accounting for shipping overseas and all that jazz.

We gotta keep an eye out on Amazon JP (have a Tenso account set up in case it doesn’t ship outside Japan), Amiami and Play-Asia. Even though Play-Asia will tax. Like their $500+ Dragon Quest Switch.

@JaxonH Well lets just hope it comes over here. I don't why the wouldn't but I would give it like a day or two before they come out and say its coming to the west as well.

I love solo, but I also love hunting online. In fact I just ran a few hunts in the Rise demo and we smashed. It was so good.

Every new player ever, we know exactly what the stages of Monster Hunter acceptance are.

1) Rejection Game feels slow, sluggish, mechanics seem designed to annoy you. Why no monster health bar? Why do roars interrupt you? Why does it take so long to get back up when knocked down? Why does moving feel so slow when weapon is drawn? This game sucks. I don’t like it.

2) Intrigue Game still feels slow and sluggish, mechanics still seem designed to annoy. But the fun is starting to peek through here and there. Player feels first thrill of hitting a wall with a monster that smashes them. Player still sucks and has no clue what they’re doing, but they are starting to make incremental improvements in select areas.

3) Excitement Game is starting to open up. Player is learning the mechanics, and while they still feel somewhat overwhelmed, they don’t feel nearly as overwhelmed as when they started. Player is getting the rhythm of their combos down. Player is learning to dodge. Player has come to terms with the animation commitments the game revolves around. No longer is the player fighting without sheathing their weapon in between attacks. Player is starting to learn basic tactics.

4) Enlightenment Now the player’s eyes have been opened. They see the light. The game that felt so sluggish and unresponsive and boring is now incredibly exciting, and the thrill of the hunt continues to lure them more and more. They get it now. The player understands this is a very special game. They realize they had been wrong about it.

5) Addiction The player is now hopelessly addicted to Monster Hunter. There is no other game that can pull them away at this point. They’re all in. Monster Hunter is life. Hundreds of hours stack up. Weekend binges without sleep. Work call ins. If it weren’t for the fact all games must inevitably come to an end, they would play for the rest of their natural life.

Hi guys, I have a question about Monster Hunter as a series and I would appreciate your help. I'm considering getting Monster Hunter Rise, I'm really liking the Demo and even as a newbie (first Monster Hunter ever) I have some friends that are long time fans and are guiding me. My question is simple, I want to know how enjoyable are this games (more specifically Rise) without online. I live in a country with really bad and expensive internet and I will play 90% of the time in single player with the occasional lan play with my two friends. Thanks in advance and please excuse my English.

I can't really motivate myself to play more if the demo. It feels a bit redundant without progression (which make sense of course, not complaining). Maybe we should do that online hunt somewhere this week?

@Venus_Adept I would say its great but it depends on what kind of a person you are. do you like hanging out with lots of people and doing it as a team, or are you more of a lone wolf who dosn't play to many online games.

The best part of MH is that its super fun as a single player game, and as a co-op MP game.

Until you start getting the hang of combat and wirebugs and stuff, the combat won't really feel exciting, and until it feels exciting, the quests wont seem that appealing to keep playing.

Definitely let's do some online hunts. Especially because the online stops after this weekend. I'm just waking up for work, but in about 12 hrs time I'll be home and good to go.

@JaxonH I'll probably be in bed by then, it's past midnight if I calculate correctly. Perhaps in the weekend or during on of your breaks.

So, the MH Rise special switch & pro controller are definitely coming to Europe .... Presumably America, too! Who'll be getting those?

@Snatcher I like both sides of the coin to be honest so I'm in. I love single player games like Xenoblade and Fire Emblem but also enjoy going Online from time to time to do a raid in Pokemon Sword for example.

Ya, Saturday and Sunday are perfect.

I'm central time. UK is 6 hrs ahead of me. So however many hours ahead of the UK you are, tack that on to the 6. So maybe 7-8 hrs time difference. At 9am here it'll be like 5pm there at most. That means a good several hrs where we're both up.
