DUDE!!!

This game looks insane on Switch! Even in handheld mode it looks like MH World in the palm of your hand. This is nuts! I knew it would look good but holy cow, this is beyond comprehension. I’ve never thought in a million years they could get a Switch game to look so good.

And they options are nuts! An ENTIRE SCROLLING PAGE OF OPTIONS JUST FOR GYRO (@Ralizah we made it to motion controls heaven). Like 5 different audio options for tv, home audio, speakers, console speakers, headset... an entire sliding bar for camera distance... this is beyond belief!

Be sure to go in options and disable auto sheath, and there’s a bunch of other settings you can tune to perfection however you like.

Also stay away form online for the moment it will close the game, but only if you select a target,.

Thanks for the heads up. Checking out tutorials now to feel the game out.

YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH A HEADSET. If you have to buy a headset, then buy a headset. This sounds better than MH World 3D audio, for real! Pause the game in the tutorial quest when talking to the guy on the Boulder, and just listen to the insect noises coming from all around you. Near, far, behind, in front... it’s crazy! The audio in this game is SUPERB.

@JaxonH I havn't played MHW for a year it really wierd getting back into it I'm pretty rusty but I will get the hang of it, I will try it with headphones.

You can get around the 30 play limit by just deleting your save data for the demo.

So uh... ya. It’s that simple. You can play this forever!

I'm having a hard time with the last hunt manly bc you can't eat and it makes it harder, but I use the long sword and its a pretty hard wepon to use, I mean its been a wile.

Dude. You can DRIFT WITH YOUR PALAMUTE. How awesome is that! I’m just running around drifting corners and getting my Mario Kart speed burst and it’s insane fun! Hunters are going to have palamute races in this, I can already tell.

Also for gyro, turn it on, but turn it off for camera movement, that way it only activates for aiming (like wirebug, certain items, etc). And turn off auto sheath. Idk why that’s still an option.

....Mizu can drift too now...ugh, those sliding beam attacks. lol

My demo won't even start downloading 🤷🏻‍♂️

What a sparkling crisp looking and running demo. Performance wise perhaps the best third party Switch game to date? As I play using the hammer I can feel the weapon animations play out more quickly than they do in MHW. Right from the jump MHR feels like a 2021 GotY contender.

Can't wait for the full game.

I am confident in saying I love this more than World already, and World is arguably my favorite video game of all time. Which means, this game is on trajectory to be my new favorite game of all time. I didn’t dare to hope. I knew it would be good. Great even. But I never imagined it would be this good.

It’s the game of my dreams. Ya. That’s what it is. This is the game I’ve dreamed about having since the day I first learned hybrid consoles could even exist. And it doesn’t disappoint.

Capcom isn’t messing around here. This isn’t some mid-tier, AA budget handheld title to cash in on the Switch market. This game exudes top-tier quality. This is peak Capcom here, this is peak Capcom. Monster Hunter Rise is the crowning achievement of what they can do, and not just as a game, but as a technical marvel.

Ok the demo is finally done downloading. Let’s see how this game reacts to my internet. My decision to purchase the game will depend entirely on how it plays online.

Anyone else having issues with trying to download the demo? I tried to get it onto my switch, but for some reason it won't even appear on the home menu. I even tried to install it using Nintendo's website, but got the same result as well. I figure it's probably because loads of people are attempting to download and install it at the same time.

Update: After typing this, I looked at my switch, and it turns out that it works now.

It's going to take a lot of practice getting used to the palamutes, wirebugs, and so on, but the game is fun, and it looks quite good when undocked. Completed the tutorial quest and easier hunt, but I'm still figuring out the controls.

@JaxonH I'll have to check out the gyro options when I play with a Pro controller.

Wirebugs looks like something in Ratchet & Clank games.

I can't even find the demo on my Switch

Ok ok it plays perfectly fine online. Surprisingly enough. It's a very fluid and smooth game.

Looks like I'll have to relearn things though since this is rather different from the last MH I played.
