Looks like a fun weapon to use overall. I like melee attacking for the most part and prefer it over ranged combat. I'll definitely be trying this one out.

Great sword requires a little more knowledge about the monsters move set, or at least, a little experience with the great sword move set, just because there’s so much wind up and animation built into the attacks. You really have to commit to each move. As you can see in the video, they charge up for a Level 3 Greatsword attack and get punished hard during the charge. You’ll also notice after that new wirebug move flying through the air with an attack at the end, the sword is stuck in the ground for a moment afterward and you can’t move.
Not to put down Greatsword. I’m even thinking about going a Greatsword run after seeing this video. The new augmented move set is killer. But know what you’re getting into with the heavier weapons (great sword, hammer and hunting horn). They do crazy damage but put you at more risk if you don’t know what you’re doing.

@JaxonH Ah, I wondered about that from watching the video; the trade-off for crazy damage is more downtime/exposure. Not too different from some games I've played, but it seems like one needs to practice quite a bit before becoming proficient with this weapon.
Yeah so far I'm seeing...eh, "normal" monster ai and stuff in these videos.
I am trying to get back into World with the PS4 version, and, yeah...monster still run away constantly. Also not too long ago I encountered Legiana that decided to roar like 3 or 4 times in a row...seriously...why? >.<

Keep it PG-13-ish.
It's been so long since I really played a MH game. Since Generations came out, basically. I'm super ready for this new one. I'll probably mostly play it on my TV with a Pro Controller, but I also have my Split Pad Pro to more easily facilitate monster hunting action on the go.
Currently Playing: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
First look at the character creator and palico/palamute creation.
@Ralizah
You know this game has gyro aiming, right? I believe split pad pro doesn’t have gyro. Then again, you probably won’t need it unless you’re playing as a gunner.

@JaxonH Yeah, I'm not expecting to need gyro for the melee weapons. If I do eventually try out a ranged weapon, I'll play with a grip instead for that sweet motion goodness.

...So apparently this game is getting a PC version...? Same with Stories 2...I dunno. Whatever, still getting the Switch version. But I hope they still do some crazy Nintendo collab events though.
Just imagine hunting Ridley in this game, or something.

It’s not 100% for sure. Leaked documents were from 2018 and a lot of those could’ve changed since then, though personally I do believe it. Seems to be the trend nowadays for virtually every PS/Xbox/NSW 3rd party exclusive. I think it’s a good thing because it makes the game more financially viable. Not that it wouldn’t have held its own as a pure exclusive, but adding PC just ensures it maximizes revenue, and that will increase the likelihood of other games being developed with Switch in mind without the need to prioritize PS/Xbox. Basically, including PC can increase likelihood of more Switch exclusive games (console exclusive, anyways) that are actually designed with the system in mind and not just downported from the power consoles (or not ported at all).
But ya, I’m pretty sure we’ll get plenty of collab content.
