I take it you play inverted? Perhaps it would be a good investment to learn to play with traditional, non-inverted controls. I know that’s easier said than done, but I see a lot of people have this kind of issue because they use inverted, and it just seems to me like it could be resolved if one were to take the time and get used to a non-inverted control scheme. Especially if it means gaining the advantage of usable Gyro as a result.
@Shane17
It’s equally single player and multiplayer. That’s the best part of MH- it’s not only the best single player game- you can play from start to finish without ever touching online, and many people do, but it’s also the best MP experience. I would say the majority of people choose to play solo, finish the village quests, and then play the hub quests online afterwards. So a mixture of both.

Grrr... GameStop still hasn't shipped my order. Okay, they say it has shipped, but as far as I can tell, my copy is still sitting in a warehouse in Kentucky waiting to be picked up by FedEx. I could pick up a copy today from my local Best Buy which has plenty in stock, but since GameStop has declared my order "shipped" (even though it actually hasn't), I'm unable to cancel my order.
I think this is the last time I'll preorder from GameStop. I just thought it would be nice to have it shipped to my house, and I don't mind waiting, but three days after release, and it hasn't even begun making its way to me is absurd.
Edit: Now that I look at it, the shipment information was submitted to FexEx on THURSDAY, so it has actually been four days, and no movement.

Trying to reprogram my brain for gyro controls in single game would be an exercise in frustration. You can invert the joystick Y axis in Monster Hunter Rise, and pretty much every game with gyro aiming I've played on the Switch lets you invert the gyro controls as well, but not Rise. It would actually take mental effort for me to remember to tilt the controls in the opposite direction of what I want, and it's just not worth the trouble. If only the developers had included what should be a standard feature.
@Mountain_Man
I’m just happy they included Gyro at all because sometimes that’s not the case (and rumble! It has rumble, for Monster roars and fishing at the very least, something we didn’t think it was going to have judging by the demo).
But ya, I didn’t mean just for this game, I meant for all games moving forward, since, if you don’t play inverted, you never encounter these kinds of issues. I’m not saying they shouldn’t have included the feature, of course they should, but that doesn’t really solve your issue. I was trying to think of actual solutions that would also prevent the problem from ever occurring again.

I never understood inverted camera controls. I get that people prefer it, but I always felt it was weird that if you tilt the control stick right, it tilts the camera left.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Perhaps it comes from my extensive video production background where as a camera operator, you push the controls left to move the image to the right, and push the controls down to move the image up. Basically, it's like using the camera on your cell phone, where you point the lens at what you want to see, so, for instance, if something is above you, you tilt the phone towards yourself to look up. It makes perfect sense to me.
Ah. It’s moreso a thing that people are used to over anything else.
Well, yes. I don't think I ever suggested it was anything other than personal preference, although in this case, it's one that's so deeply embedded in my brain from decades of real world experience that it would be more trouble than it's worth to try to overcome it.
Okay, there is one thing in Rise that bothers the crap out of me...these stupid giant holes everywhere in the maps, and when I try to check them out I run into a invisible wall. WHY?! >.< lol

Loving the switch skill for the sword and shield. Between that and the wirebug I am flying around all over the place like the insect glaive. Love being able to get up in the air and smash down on the monsters head or tail whenever I want. Very satisfying to play.
It does seem a bit easy so far (up to 5 star quests at the moment) but I'm sure it'll ramp up. I just recall hitting difficulty spikes every 4 or so monsters in World eg Anjanath, but I haven't had any issues with the monsters in this one (of the 18-19 I've done)
I was kinda worried the low rank monsters in the hub would be mostly the same, since people have said this game is super easy. Do these people just rush through the game via multiplayer or something? lol
Anyways yeah, good to know they're buffed up a little bit in the hub like the older games, still not fainting much or failing the quests anytime soon. But Arzuros did give me a hard time, had Somnacanth stuff too. lol

Had a nice long play session today with some friends. We grinded Magnamalo for a while and then did key quests, and then the Urgent Rampage. Gosh rampages are intense. The Apex broke though our first gate and then we had to scramble to fortify our completely undefended second half of the map lol. Those Apex monsters are huge damage sponges. We had several guns and Wyvern artillery trained on it and the counter chime was active, and it was just sitting there sprouting numbers all over the place absorbing all of it lol.
Also, Magnamalo simply refuses to give me scutes. Good ol desire sensor at work.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
@Ulysses
Every single game released in the west, still sealed. Every collector edition still sealed. Every limited edition console released in the west also. Ran out of things to collect, so I moved on to the creator’s model figures. They’re so expensive though I was only able to get a half dozen of my favorites.
Btw, unlike World, you can redo your appearance at any time. Just got to item box, you’ll see change appearance option there.
@Joeynator3000
Idk. The game does feel kind of easy, but I’ve still had a rough time with even easy monsters like Royal Ludroth, who dang near carted me at one point. It feels like they just do less damage and have less HP.
But then again, I’m a vet with 2,000+ hours in the series, just practiced for 40 hours in the demo, played another 25 in the game, and it’s low rank in an entry meant to be a bit easier for newcomers. So it’s probably all of that combined.
If people like us want real challenge, it’s going to come from later in high rank, arena quests, rampages and apex monsters, elder dragons from content updates, and G rank in the expansion. But it’s still fun as heck regardless. That’s what I love about MH.
Village quests are a bit on the easy side, hub quests do ramp up slightly...but not too much. I dunno, I like it. Not too hard, but a little more challenging than the village stuff.

I like that I'm not pulling my hair out just yet, haha.
I'm sure some will disagree but when the G rank expansion DOES come, I really hope there isn't any bs like monsters with with a dps check that'll just outright kill you if you're not obeying the meta, or monsters with one shot kills in general.
