@GoldenGamer88 yeah I have tried that many times and no success. They nibble then move away. When I quickly press y it just pulls up the line and that's it.

@Qwertyninty Press Y to lower the line, press Y to reel in the fish. Wait for the fish to bite, you'll feel a strong rumble, not a subtle one like when they're just touching the bait.

3rd nibble is when you press Y to reel up, then up on joystick while alternately shaking Joycon.

@Octane I have two favorites!

Metro Kingdom because it reminds me so much of New York and Paulines amazing return after many years.

And Ruined Kingdom! While it may be small, I definitely am interested in its past. Especially since that dragon was there and all.

@Dark-Luigi I actually like the Lost Kingdom. At least, the parts that I can access right now. I know there's a puzzle to get to the rest of the level, but I can't figure it out lol. Don't spoil it though!

Octane

@Tsurii Yeah I think so... on top of the mountain, but it's quite difficult to get to, and I love that fact. It's a puzzle, and maybe it's very simple, but I want to figure it out by myself!

Octane

@Tsurii Haha, that's what I was afraid of! I'll give it another go after Sony's conference.

I haven't gotten that far (Got FE Warriors same day so) but I have to say I am really seeing the creed of the switch in the new Mario game. Nintendo stated in the January presentation that the switch is an combination of aspects of all of the previous Nintendo consoles; and that the DNA is baked in and I'm really feeling that more and more with the more recent games (starting with ARMS IMO) in that they really have this seamless hybrid nature.

Odyssey has the sandboxes (and PAINTINGS! I giggled when I saw that) that made mario 64 a revelation, the secret levels and weapon mechanics of Sunshine (I wish that Mario could punch and kick sans Cappy though), the sense of scale of Galaxy, and yet it isn't just a 3D Mario, (much the way 3d world wasn't either) it pulls from the Mario pedigree to make a game that is an amalgamation of ideas, an evolution of all of them and still somehow seamless enough to almost make you think that it is unique all on its own. This is refinement in its purest form. Even the lack of a death mechanic feels like an evolution. The game still punishes you (you need the coins) so they are no longer meaningless (that is one thing I though sonic did well....making the collectables worth something to the player as they kept you alive and allowed you to access secret levels) and when you can't buy a suit or you get kicked back to the beginning of a stage or (because you missed a check point) next to the Odyssey it still feels like you messed up but it's less of a time waste.

I'm a Zelda diehard, but Mario 64 is what made me love exploration in games and playing Odyssey is like coming home for me. I swear if they had put a way for you to warp Mario's face on the pause screen I would have likely died from joy and shock. I have stated since BOTW came out that it isn't a new take on Zelda at all; merely the Zelda Miyamoto-dono and co had envisioned but didn't have the tech to make until now and I feel like Odyssey is the path Mario 64 was carving out as well. What a fantastic time to not just be a gamer but to have grown up with the building blocks that led to this wonderful game as well.

I think so many game companies get caught up in slapping a face onto a money maker that they forget the fundamental components that make that product a seller, the gameplay fun or a story memorable. Nintendo isn't perfect by any means but I feel that because so many of the star devs have stayed and either mentored the younger teams and passed on their vision for the series or in Sakurai fashion stayed in the trenches that Nintendo keeps that awareness of what makes their games so good. That isn't always in line with what the fans think should happen but that is how creative endeavors work.

I don't like to be considered a fangirl, and I buy every system and play most genres (shooters can fall down a well) but it's games like this (and the entire switch line up) that help me remember why I could easily be content being a Nintendo only gamer.

@Ryu_Niiyama To be fair, you only lose 10 coins, and chances are there are at least 10 coins near the spawning point, so in a way you're gaining more coins by dying than you're losing.

@Octane I've compounded a few deaths (still getting used to positioning the camera in a way that works best for my ability to "see" everything) and I've lost money. I view it as a sliding difficulty sorta thing. I don't go out of my way to collect coins (NSMB2 burnt me out on that) and secret levels are still the bane of my existence so I've been penalized but somebody that doesn't have that issue won't agree. Its all subjective, but I think this works better to accommodating various playstyles and skill sets.

EDIT: I'm a little hurt that is all you got out of my novel though. Kidding.

Just bought the Skeleton costume for 9999 coins. Thought I might just go for it while I‘m completing the Wooded Kingdom. Definitely my new favorite outfit!

@Tsurii I don't feel stupid, I'm just too good at the game. I knew you couldn't capture those enemies anyway, so I never even tried...

@Tsurii You can't jump around them, trust me, I've tried lol.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I did it!

What did I do that has me jumping with glee you might ask! Well I'll tell you.

This is not a spoiler. I'm just hiding it for the sake of suspense

I jumped rope 100 times! Wahoo!
