@Qwertyninty With Lakitu? Lower the hook into the water with Y, move closer to the fish without scaring it away. It should move its mouth to the hook. From there, your controller will vibrate lightly. Once the vibration has become stronger, quickly press Y. If done correctly, a text will pop up asking you to reel it in by quickly tapping Y and using the control stick to pull it into your direction. It‘s pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Question about the post-game: So I bought 20 moons in the Sand Kingdom Crazy Cap shop for 2K coins but I still could buy more. Has anyone figured out if there‘s a limit to how many you can purchase or if those even go towards the game‘s total number of Moons?
Yes, I use cappy to make some really long jumps, and to hang in the air that extra second or so, which is crucial really. There can be some tricky platforming in this game. Of course I'm trying to climb every freaking thing looking for moons. Climb more in this game than I did in Zelda 😄
@LuckyLand
No, you're gonna want HD rumble on for this game. I've used it for at least a dozen moons already, between feeling it rumble when standing on a secret, or fishing and knowing when they're nibbling... this game was built around HD Rumble. You've probably missed quite a few other moons and just don't know it, because you never felt the controller vibrate.
For the record, it does allow you to change how strong it vibrates from low to medium to high

For spoilers put (spoiler)PLACE TEXT HERE(/spoiler) but instead of ( ) you want to use [ ]
Be sure to not make it plural. It's spoiler not spoilers

My favourite costume is doctor Mario costume. I love playing a platformer game as doctor Mario. I also like the explorer costume and the pilot costume a lot. And the "nipples & underwear" costume is fun when you are on water based stages lol.
I don't think I need to use spoilers here since I mentioned costumes that I have already seen in promotional videos and pictures.
And I was so excited when I saw that doctor Mario was playable!

Gosh, half this thread is censored spoilers lol. I must take my games really slow in relation to others. Savoring every last bit. I will have beaten it hopefully by the end of today or sometime this week, depending.
Although, the ending is really just the beginning 😁

I think it's a great game. Love the script, had to laugh out loud when Bowser says he has no time to fight Mario because he's too busy planning his wedding and that's stressful. It's a fine line to walk between lightweight & childish and "funny for all ages" but this game does it pretty well.
More generally I think the design is really interesting. It really does feel like the successor to all of the 3d Mario games. I know that a lot of the conversation has been about it being a successor to 64 and Sunshine but I see a lot of Galaxy and 3d World in there too.
Pretty much any time you go into a door or a pipe the game becomes a self contained vignette that it's easy to imagine was left over from 3d World or Galaxy 2. I've just been through the snow kingdom (and - come on - this really doesn't need to be in spoiler tags does it? As if there wouldn't be a snow level!) and there were a lot of things in that one that looked and felt so much like 3d World part 2.
I think the most overwhelming feeling I've had of the game - around 6-7 hours in - is that it feels packed full of content and pulls you to move on before you've completely exhausted a level. Whether or not it actually is more game than 3d World or the Galaxy games is irrelevant. The real innovation of the game relative to its predecessors is to put all of that content front, right and centre whereas previous games have left vast vaults of the good stuff gated off until the late game.
I probably finished the game in about 12 hours, with a ton of side-tracking and exploring. If you're just going for fastest time, I've heard it's about 6-7 hours. Not to mention I'm still playing it to find secrets and such.

There are also things that reminds me 2D Mario games as well. I think that Mario games made a huge improvement when they became 3D (quite the opposite than Sonic) but it is still nice to see those references to 2D games too.

@StuTwo In a way, you could also argue it's a bit of Super Mario Bros.! I love those sections. Anyway, about the Snow Kingdom, it was a bit disappointing when I found out the race course wasn't a giant slide like those in 64.
I think I also found a very neat SMW reference that's pretty well hidden.
